Poor, Innocent Rafe....he's got the look of a zombie!! (aha!! That's the answer, Stephano's still got him!) He's so expressionless (is that a word?) I guess in the Rafe School of Acting, that's a plus! |

I'm still trying to make sense of this whole "two secrets in a box" thing. It really doesn't hold up under scrutiny. So let's say you (Stefano) come to me (Alice) and tell me that you have this big secret that will harm my entire (Horton) family. I never bother to ask you what it is or question whether you're telling the truth. I never ask for evidence about this so-called secret. Instead, I tell you that I have a big ole secret about you that you're not gonna like. You don't question me either. So we're at a standoff. We decide to each put something in an envelope the other can't see. But what do you have? Is it evidence? Is it a slip of blank paper? Is it a smoking gun with fingerprints? Is it a faked DNA test or a forged marriage certificate you printed out on a home computer? I have no idea because I didn't ask to see what was in the envelope or to otherwise independently verify what you're saying is true. Even if your secret is legitimate, is what you put in the envelope really an original -- or did you just make a copy and you still have the real thing in your possession? I can't be sure. Meanwhile, we put these two envelopes in a box that only the two of us can open together. And even though we're mortal enemies, we promise (and accept each other's promise) that we'll never tell. Huh? 1) Alice did not trust Stefano. So why would she accept sight-unseen that he had some horrible secret that he was prepared to use to ruin the Hortons? 2) Even if she did see the contents of his envelope (and knew about the John-Hope marriage), then why would she want to hide such a thing rather than bring it to light and deal with it by having the legal papers resolved? 3) Putting the envelopes in a box that could be only opened by the two of them is useless and offers no protection to either party. If you suddenly decide to double-cross me and reveal the information in your envelope, then what can I do? I can't run and grab my envelope out of the box to use it against you. I would need your cooperation to do that. Like I said, it makes no sense. I think what the writers were after here was a response to all the message-board posts that said, "Alice would never...." They tried to come up with a way to explain Alice's actions by saying she didn't really know about the contents of Stefano's secret. But by coming up with this scenario, they did her character even more damaage. They just made her look dumb. I'm also not accepting that Stefano never bothered to independently learn what Alice had on him. He has vast resources and no scruples. He could have easily used all kinds of ways to learn what she knew. For him to display no curiosity but rather just be content to let something hang around in a box for years and years isn't like him at all. The characters of Alice and Stefano may be a lot of things. But "Dumb and Dumber," they're not. |

I gotta say Monday was disappointing as the resolution to Friday's show. its just didnt feel that their were "high stakes" with all the relationships. Hmm...Sami YOU have always wanted what Carrie had with Austin and any other guy...YOU are the "Jan" and she's the "Marcia." Go sell that shit to someone else. It was just bad acting all around with CC, GG, AS and PM. They looked like they didnt believe what they were trying to sell. So SAFE come back and I thought they were actually going to have a better discussion then "get out?" What a waste of a scene? Sami could of said that in the office? Then they could of showed her be more devastated than what we saw- first she learns about Will seeing beastsex and now she learns that Rafe played tonsil hockey with Carrie, her Ol' school nemesis. Carrie and Austin werent any better. CC played those scenes confused. Maybe she was trying to convey her confusion about the kiss...but the kiss didnt look confusing AT ALL. Austin could of brought up her cheating. It just didnt feel like people lost anything. Hope jumping up and down over the "fortune cookie" saying of Tom's that she found in ANOTHER old relic of Alice and Toms was so stupid. Kate really wants to know whats in Steffy's envelope. I think she might take a peek. The HTS happening were better. Abe straight out lying and telling Jennifer that he's never lied to her before in 30 years of marriage was good. But WTF Jen, show some fuckin sympathy. Are you so jaded that all you're focused on is winning the election? I hope when the election is over, there's some reflection by Jen. She really used Abe because she wanted to one-up EJole. EJole were funny piecing things together about how Abe and Jen cheated. There should have been more "cheating" stuff throughout the campaign on both sides. Its almost like the campaign started yet we know that it ends shortly. Looks like EJole took the cheating incident and got invigorated in their efforts to out scheme the other side. I wonder what schemes they will come up to make sure Abe and Jen get caught with their hands in the cookie jar (or ballot box.) Edited by Liz<3Days, Feb 4 2012, 09:52 AM.

I get the same feeling that it seems that Stefano may already know or think he knows what is in that envelope that is what has him so worried he must know something of that happened probably around the same time that Alice helped EJ, if that is not part of the secret then why keep bringing it up? |

This! Aside from all the gigantic holes in the story itself, it's lazy, contrived maneuvers like this that aggravate me the most. I really love a good mystery. At first, this one seemed to have potential. But it's turned out to be poorly conceived and poorly executed. Having an item from Tom that is usually never around suddenly just happen to be on the mantle at the exact moment that Hope says she's looking for a sign is the height of laziness on the part of the writers. And why have Hope suddenly be into signs and such anyway? She and Bo are usually hard-nosed and savvy investigators. They seldom accept things on face value and always question. But in this iteration, they completely accept the appearance of all these clues and signs without ever wondering whether they're being set up. Even worse, neither one seems to be bothered by the fact that things seem to materialize out of thin air. This tells me that Salem is once again entering an alternate reality and that the writers are going the supernatural route again a la JER. I shudder to think that we may be thisclose to having Tom Horton's head once again floating above the mantle. This time, Alice will be right there with him. Won't that be just peachy? :sarcasm: |

Susan walked around with the "real" baby Elvis in Salem way before EJ supposely got sick...and she left with Elvis when she left..I remember she took pictures of ELvis and mailing them to Stefano telling him where she was when she was lying...she gave stefano pictures of Elvis so Stefano wouldn't get suspicious...so when did Susan find madison brother keep EJ and pass madison brother as EJ????wouldn't Stefano know what his son look like when he was a baby  Edited by stefenohairychest, Feb 4 2012, 10:43 AM.

My hope is that Lexie divorces Abe after she finds out about what he did. "You're not the good, upstanding, moral man I married. You're a HYPOCRITE, ABE CARVER!" Dream dialogue from a future episode, I hope! Was absolutely DISGUSTED when he took the underhanded approach. Cheaters NEVER win in life, Abe! And winners never cheat! :moon: |

Keeping secrets from the marriage is wrong, no matter what. It's one thing to cheat, but to actually continue the facade that you're good and upstanding? And leaving your wife in the dark about your true self? That's almost scarier, because that brings about whiplash when the truth comes to life. IT's an inherent, unforgivable character flaw. Going to the dark side is not the same thing as a minor sexual indiscretion. |

Can't wait till Kate learns of Carrie's indiscretion. It's interesting that Kate and Sami will be business partners and actually getting along while CARRIE becomes public enemy NO. 1 for Kate! Great writing! |

Seriously? Did Sami really say CARRIE was always jealous of her and wanted what she had? Rewritten history much, Sami?? YOU, Sami, were always jealous of Carrie. YOU, Sami, always wanted what Carrie had. YOU, Sami, were nothing but a hypocritical, insecure, jealous bitch to Carrie, because Carrie was more beautiful, more popular, and more successful than you. Get your head out of your ass , Sami. As always, you are full of shit. |

The makeup on Sami and Hope is a little orange and heavy. Even Nicole's looks over the top. Their makeup needs to be toned down. Days need to fix it up! The wardrobe dept needs an overhaul! Some of the clothes are terrible! |

Yeah, it was one of those "WTF?" moments that, if I hadn't just witnessed the last five-plus years of Sami being unsubtly rewritten as the heir to Belle's glittery hoo-hah throne, I would assume was meant to show just how delusional and psycho this bitch really is. However, at this point I can only assume they want newer viewers (are there any?) to feel sympathy for Sami because Carrie was always a jealous vindictive bitch who wouldn't stay out of her sister's life and screwed her men just because she hated how much more awesome Sami was. It's all part of the grand plan of the last five years to ensure that no matter how much more attractive and appealing the other women on the show are, they must be jealous of and insecure about Sami. The plan was modified in 2008 to include NuSami in the person of Melanie, who no man can resist and no woman can hope to ever match, let alone best in a battle of brains, charm and/or beauty. It occurs that the reason I've enjoyed the show recently so much more is that Daniel is temporarily gone and Melanie isn't anyone's onscreen reason for living at the moment. But back to Sami for a second, she's actually semi-enjoyable at the beginning when she's flabbergasted at Cafe trying to explain how what she just saw isn't what she just saw. Then again, when one remembers that was the first card she played with Will while begging him to understand and forgive, it's hard to sympathize. But overall, it's just so nice to even briefly see Rafe without his head up her ass that I enjoyed it. I really hope that when he finds out about Sami, that he loathes her and himself for the self-flagellation he's undoubtedly about to undergo. I can't wait until this upcoming Friday's show when Will rips her for being a hypocrite. I wish Marlena could get involved too, it's annoying that she knows the secret yet hasn't spoken to Sami about it yet or even hinted. |

Cheaters often win in life, certainly in Salem life. I think it's realistic that an upstanding "saint in training" might compromise his principles to prevent a greater evil. And if Lexie would divorce Abe for this rather than trying to work it out and forgive him as he's done her lots of times, she doesn't deserve him. Edited by Dany_E, Feb 5 2012, 09:48 AM.

The Sami/Carrie/Rafe/Austin scenes sound really good! So excited that we're finally starting to see some real action on this show now. And I know it's wrong, but I still enjoyed that Rafe/Carrie kiss. I can't help it, lol...I like them together! :D Thanks for posting that 3 1/2 minute preview, Android. The Bo/Hope and Stefano/Kate scenes sound pretty good too, but I know the real action with that starts on Tuesday, so definitely looking forward to the rest of the week on that front. Looks like another great episode on Monday. :) |

I respectfully disagree. Being lured to the dark side -- as opposed to standing your ground, and as opposed to already being on the dark side, so your behavior is expected -- is much graver than anything EJ could ever do. This is the beginning of the end for Abe, once a "good guy." He can never be repaired unless he dies or something. |

Yeah...I don't agree. People make mistakes. It's part of life. The mistake isn't what destroys people, it's what the person does afterwards. |
