NBC UNVEILS INTRIGUING NEW DRAMA ‘AWAKE’ TO PREMIERE ON THURSDAY, MARCH 1 (10-11 P.M. ET)

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – February 3, 2012 – NBC will premiere its intriguing new drama “Awake” on Thursday, March 1 (10-11 p.m. ET), starring Jason Isaacs ("Harry Potter," "Brotherhood") as a detective who finds he is leading a complex double life that defies reality. The series will continue on Thursdays (10-11 p.m. ET).

“The Firm” will move from Thursdays (10-11 p.m. ET) to Saturdays (9-10 p.m. ET) beginning February 11, where the drama will resume with original episodes. Encore episodes of “Grimm” will air Thursdays (10-11 p.m. ET) beginning on February 9.

The announcements were made today by Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment.

From executive producers Kyle Killen (“Lone Star”) and Howard Gordon (“Homeland,” “24”), “Awake” is an intriguing drama about Detective Michael Britten (Isaacs) who finds he’s living two parallel lives. He’s involved in a car accident that seems to have killed both his son (Dylan Minnette, "Saving Grace") and wife (Laura Allen, "Terriers"), yet his mind creates an ingenious coping mechanism in which he now lives two separate lives – one where his wife survived and the other where his son did.

Trying to regain some normalcy, Michael returns to solving crimes in both worlds with the help of two different partners, Detective Isaiah "Bird" Freeman (Steve Harris, "The Practice") and Detective Efrem Vega (Wilmer Valderrama, "That '70s Show"). Michael is assigned a different case in each reality and quickly discovers that his dual existence is actually a powerful tool. He begins to solve impossible cases by using his two realities to gain unique perspectives and link clues that cross over from world to world.

Helping Michael to navigate his two realities are his bureau-assigned therapists Dr. Evans (Emmy Award winner Cherry Jones, "24") and Dr. Lee (BD Wong, NBC's "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"). While both therapists work to untangle his two worlds, Michael has no interest in proving either one is false. But when memories of the accident begin to haunt him, he is forced to confront the truth about what really happened the night of the crash.

“Awake” is produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television.

No matter what you think, I DO love you.

Thanks! I hadn't heard anything about this since I initially did months ago. I was hoping it was still a go. I saw the promo for it during SuperBowl and was pretty stoked. Looking forward to this series and I'm glad it falls in a time slot where I don't have a competing show to watch. Should be a good one!

As a die-hard Inception fan, I should be screaming "RIP-OFF!" But, oddly enough, I was intrigued by the Super Bowl preview and now this trailer. Looking forward to the pilot!

I am so fucking excited! I absolutely adore Jason Isaacs.

I thought NBC wasn't going to go through with this, so I literally squealed when I saw a commercial during The Voice. Really hoping this does well.

Thank God you posted that trailer I never would have cared to watch. Now I definitely will be. NBC has upped their shows to 4 on my TV viewing list joining Parenthood, Community and Parks & Recreation.

Y'all, the first episode is available online and On Demand, if any of you are interested in watching it before it airs.

My thoughts on the pilot:

Spoiler: click to toggle

I still have a lot of questions, but I'm really liking this show so far. Definitely worth tuning in, IMO.

I wanted to watch the pilot as close to the live date as possible so I did that today.

I echo your sentiments. The plot confused me to the extent that I kept forgetting which shrink/family member/detective partner are paired up in each reality lol.

I thought it sagged in the middle but the start and end were good.

If the show focuses on the serialized aspect like in the pilot, I'm interested. If they focus on the silly procedural part
Spoiler: click to toggle
then frankly I don't care.

Also, not a Laura Allen fan - hated her in All My Children. Rest of the cast are strong.

I thought it was good. It'll take some getting used but I think I could enjoy it. I agree about Laura Allen, I couldn't place her until you left the comment about AMC and was like oh yeah, that's where I didn't like her. I'm not a big Wilmer Valderama fan either so I could do without the both of them. I really like Michaela McManus, liked her on SVU for her short stint and I like her character here as well.

Yeah, Wilmer Valderama bugged me in the second episode.

I was quite happy to quit this show until the last 2 minutes. That intrigued me. But honestly, the crime procedural part of this show is so mind numbingly boring that I don't think its worth it. There's a reason I don't watch the 6000 crime shows on CBS. I don't see the reason to make an exception for this sub-par one. I'm out...
