Wow, when last did NBC win a night that wasn't Sunday? CBS and ABC seemed to cope ok though, FOX got crushed. |

I love that The Voice will be the #1 show of the week! Idol has finally lost it's title to a show that's 10x better |

Wow...how crazy to see "NBC wins the Night" and no football is attached to it. Hopefully this is the start of a resurgence for the network, they desperately need something to work so they can rebuild their lineup. Good to see a different drama like Smash win the hour against more typical drama's. |

Love it. This was a brilliant scheduling decision by NBC. The Voice is the biggest show they have right now and it was the perfect show to air after the Superbowl because you didn't have to be a regular viewer to watch, like say Glee or House. Also, Smash is the perfect show to air with The Voice...Finally, NBC makes a smart decision. |

I'm all for dethroning Idol...but I really wish it was a scripted program -- any scripted program -- that was doing it. |

So glad to hear that "Smash" was a, well, "Smash!" This is a phenomenal show -- I've never seen anything like it on network TV! -- with an incredibly talented cast. Instantly hooked. I will watch every week. And Katherine McPhee's character BETTER win the Marilyn role. I've invested way too much for that bitch Ivy to get it. I don't like something about her. It rubs me the wrong way... |

With BBT tieing Idol and beating them in shares, I expect BBT to top them by the end of sweeps |

Idol will pick up a bit once they get to live shows. It was bound to happen but the audition format being stale caught up to them. They need to retool that next year. They've been ignoring people complaining about that for years so it's time to overhaul it. Also, it doesn't help that the entire Top 24 list leaked. People pretty much don't have to watch now until the live shows. That was dumb. It's good for these shows because of how Idol has been so dominant for so long. I'm really happy for NBC because they need this. I just don't expect it to last. The Voice is coming off the Super Bowl high. These numbers won't stick. It will settle in, as will Smash, with lower numbers. NBC just needs to hope it's not much lower. I think The Voice was getting around 12 million last year. I see them doing a little better with 14-15 million. Everyone seems to only be into that show during the auditions and team forming shows. Once it gets beyond that, people don't seem too interested until the finale. It's all about the judges/mentors with The Voice and once they are no longer used as much the show doesn't seem to interest as many people, which is weird given it should be about the contestants for the audience. I actually get more into it then LOL. Smash may settle in around 8 million or so, assuming it holds interest. The only way Idol is screwed is if the contestants they have are not very good and not interesting. In that case, I could see them losing their title as #1 for more than a few weeks or so. Otherwise, I think they will lose it off and on until the live shows and then take a hold of it and hold it through the rest of the season. Edited by PhoenixRising05, Feb 8 2012, 01:35 AM.

I can't believe NBC beat CBS! And the Voice beat Two and a Half and all of those! I love the Voice's audition process, but Idol still beats it, IMO, when it gets down the competition format. And I think X-Factor season 1 had the best judges, but EVERYTHING else was a disaster. If only we could combine all three. Haha. I am so sick of Adam Levine and Carson. And I hate Cee-Lo. Thank God for X-tina! |

^I have to agree. Aside from Nicole, X-Factor did have the best judges/mentors. The biggest issue with that show is that too much focus was away from the contestants with the overproduction and all the judges/mentors fighting with each other. |
