I hate when impromptu pre-emptions occur. It throws everything off. Especially now with the taping schedule. Friday's "cliffhangers" will be on Mondays for months now until they catch up.

They only do that for local affiliate preemptions. If an entire time zone (in this case, East/Central) is preempted for more than 35 minutes, then it usually automatically becomes a national preemption.

That should have been the case today. I think Obama didn't start speaking until around 1:30ET. But, since he told the networks his speech was going to begin at 1:15ET (and thus, that would have caused a 45-minute preemption), NBC was forced to preempt nationally. If he had told the networks the speech would have begun at 1:30, which was what ended up happening, then East/Central affiliates would have aired the first half of "Days" and NBC News would have started the preemption at 1:30, leaving the episode to air as originally planned for the Pacific/Mountain time zones. That would have left each East/Central time zone affiliate to decide whether or not to re-air "Days" between 2AM and 5AM tomorrow morning.

So, does this mean that Canada's episode (tomorrow's US episode) will be preempted as well?

What happen now with Canada's episodes? Now they will air the new episodes two days before they air in the US.

Yes. Canada will not get a feed tomorrow. Billie was set to debut for Canadians tomorrow (March 7) and for the US on Thursday, March 8. So, now Billie will debut for Canadians on Thursday, March 8 and the US on Friday, March 9.

I was rather stunned when, at the end of the hour when NBC was about to return to regular programming, that Brian Williams announced ON AIR that today's scheduled episode of DAYS would air tomorrow. I'm not sure I can remember the last time the news announcer actually announced that on-air.

Well, I guess that's good in the sense that someone @ NBC still cares about DAYS.

Well its a good thing they don't really do Friday cliffhangers anymore. Brady and Madison falling into bed last Friday was a real shocking cliffhanger.

They need to take from the Ron Carlivati school of writing and make every last scene from every storyline a cliffhanger and this wouldn't even be relevant other than noting debuts.
