Didn't Rinna's tweet the other day make it sound like she was out the door? |

As I said in the other thread, I think it's about Nadia. Nadia's negotiations have not gone well all along while we've heard far more positive vibes surrounding Eileen. Even if it isn't and it is Eileen, it says the show is trying hard. Clearly, they want her. It doesn't say negotiations fell apart or anything. It says nothing has been settled yet. That's all. To me, this one isn't on Days. This one may be a case of Eileen trying to squeeze as much money as she can out of Days just in case the show does end up gone a year after she is back. |

I really wish I had your optimism. I feel like every time I hope for something with this show the almost exact same worst scenario that I envision is what plays out. I do hope you are right, though. Edited by Lil, Jun 19 2012, 03:07 PM.

I think it is. Until they're fired Casey Deidrick, Camila Banus, Josh Taylor, Shawn Christian, Peggy McCay, Galen Gering and the countless others who serve no purpose on this show, they won't have done enough to get Eileen back in my opinion. |

You can't just trade 5-6 characters for one. You need to fill out the canvas and stories. Also, it's clear Corday and Days are not calling the shots here. NBC is and maybe even Sony. Their hands very well may be tied on everything from how much money to offer to who stays and who goes. It's not as cut and dry as it was in years past. |

Well, whatever the case, I'm done with the show if they don't get Eileen back. I don't care whose fault it is. I don't care what the reasoning is. This is the last straw for me. I've waited 14 years for this to happen and if it doesn't, I'm done. |

Thing for me is McKay and Taylor don't really have any stories to tell and their role in the canvas can easily be passed on to others (Hope, Kayla, etc). The male leads are a thornier issue obviously, but while I can see that EJ and even Rafe have fans, who is Daniel really doing anything for? I'm not one who really needs to see Missy fired or anything but Dannifer is hardly must see TV, and Melanie will be gone soon, and Victor & Maggie have Brady to round out their family unit, and there's just no shortage of characters at the moment. Quite the opposite. It'd be so much easier for me to sympathize with this show biting the bullet if they were just smart about it, but I can't figure them out. |

You can when those 5-6 characters are used as filler. |

But not all those characters are filler. At least Rafe isn't. He's one of the most compelling characters on the show. Getting rid of him to bring back Kristen would be a huge mistake. |

Characters like Rafe are a dime-a-dozen. He could disappear tomorrow and I wouldn't miss him in the least. |

I don't feel that way, and I'm not the only one. Look, I want you guys to get Kristen back. Even though I've never seen her, except in some clips, I participated in that tweetbomb to get her back. But the way you feel about Kristen, I feel about Rafe, that's why I could never support trading Rafe for her. |

I like Rafe, but Kristen is so much more needed onscreen. Especially with the Cafe thing ending, Rafe doesn't really have to be in Salem at this point. Brandon actually has a lot more he could do. |

I don't think it has anything to do with ED, but has to do with Nadia B. NB has been hard to get before as well. Plus, ED said in a interview that she'd be happy to return to DAYS! |

I think getting rid of Banus, Christian, Yancy, Rinna, and Deidrick seems like a no brainer (yet those jerks got rid of MA instead). I suppose if CB, CD, and SY got the boot, the show would have to bring in a couple of other twenty-somethings, but surely they could get some better twenty-somethings than those three, probably without having to pay any more. But also, if the cash is such an issue, why keep Reeves and not send her off with Ashford? It's odd to me. Even among those who like them, I can't imagine many tune in because of Dan/Jen. I think the "leading lady" is Nadia, and I wonder if the sticking point isn't about money as much as it is about storyline assurances? Nadia really disliked the "Chloe is a hooker" storyline, so maybe Nadia wants to make sure that Chloe won't be destroyed in yet another shitty storyline if she returns. It could be a situation of Nadia wanting certain reassurances about what's in store for Chloe, and DAYS being unable or unwilling to give her those assurances. And Nadia has a good enough career without DAYS that she'd be able to hold out if she doesn't like what DAYS has to offer. (Money could also be an issue, but I do think Nadia might be reluctant to return to DAYS if she thinks the new writers will shit on Chloe in the same way that Hackley did for months and months.) |
