I'm all for anything that outs Tomlin.

Also, I think the assumption that Christie is back might be hurting her chances.

For anyone that would like to join me, I am going to do a twitter bomb for Christe on Friday June 8th at 2pm EST. I know many believe her return is a definite cause of some blog reports and SOD, but until there is confirmation from her or the show, I think she still needs the support. As we all know, things can change very quickly with this show. And like Lysie said if people already assume it is a done deal and people are quiet then that is hurting her chances.

Christie definitely got a lot of the initial support but I definitely think it would be good to follow up. Plus, I want to stick it to Tomlin that he fired the wrong people.

Come on Ron, We are counting on YOU !!

My only fear is that Tomlin if he stays on will be promoted to Co-EP again and then Whitesell and Broderick will take over HW...the latter is a great move but I still can't forget how the show looked when Tomlin was the co-ep and then I know that he would be meddling in the HW too and it just spells disaster.....having Tomlin there is really not a good move for Days, but then again maybe the network saw that the last time this show even gained one viewer was in 2009 and both CW and GT were somehow at the helm in terms of either EPing or writing. The thing is if NBC is really stepping in and running the show then how long will they give TomSell? If things don't improve by let's say December are they ready to toss out Tomlin and keep the other two? It really did strike me that LB didn't get the HW role before CW/GT.....

Gone, But Not Forgotten!

I think ED' s sudden availability, might make CC's chances of return difficult. TPTB can only write so many Stories. Having all these great actors on screen, require good stories and we just went through hell, having a bloated cast and short, rushed SLs. I think a lot will himge on where TPTB what to take things. The show going all Brady or swinging it over to add more Dimera? A good dilemma IMO.

I agree....TPTB might have initially thought they were going to play that card and have CC return, and then play her in a relationship with Rafe, while Sami was likely off being pitted between Lucas and EJ. But now that they have a shot for ED they might forget bringing CC back because they need the money for ED. They can still shift Rafe into a triangle with Lumi and that is solved....if Eric is returning then maybe he ends up in a triangle with Ej and Nicole and that leaves Brady and Daniel free to leave town.....they need to drop a few more people in order to get ED I believe so maybe they dropped CC's return and are planning to cut others too..

I'm on board for twitterbombing for Matt but a twitterbomb for better head writers should be organised too. NBC picked Tomlin to take over probably because the last time Days gained viewers was during the baby switch drama in 2009 when he was in charge. I'll bet his pitch to the network consisted of promoting his new, one dimensional, young characters embroiled in baby switches, Who's the Daddy? sagas and love triangles/quads that make no sense and the vets relegated to the back burner or written out like Jack. It really doesn't matter who is playing out these story lines it won't make for a better product. The show needs better writers.
^Agreed. I facebook messaged Richard Allen and Anne Schoettle, writers from the "good ole Days" and actually received a message back from Richard Allen. Ken Corday and the NBC execs even interferred back during the Cruise of Deception time period. Here is what he messaged me:

Richard Allen

11:51am Jun 4

Mary

I just saw now your kind message, because it went to some strange section of facebook that I never check. Thanks for the very many nice things you said about the days when Anne and I wrote the show. It was a great time for us...unfortunatley the network execs and Ken Corday weren't always so thrilled with our results. I tried to write for the show again in 2003 when Dena Higley was head writing...after 3 episodes, that never went anywhere either. I have been happily teaching college in Texas for almost 20 years now and doubt if Ken would EVER even think about bringing either of us back. But knowing that some viewers like you really enjoyed the stories we wrote and the way we tried to write them (with some real emotion, humor, and focusing on bonds of love and friendship betweren the characters) means more than you can imagine...

Sincerely,
Richard

Wow!!!
How could Ken Corday not like what they were doing as writers back then? There really is no hope for the show if the people in charge couldn't even recognize great writing when they had it. : (
~Sorta sounds like he'd be interested in the job again though, if offered.
I think that's cool that Richard Allen responded, and what he talks about trying to write, "some real emotion, humor, and focusing on bonds of love and friendship between the characters" is exactly what is missing now. I love Allen/Schoettle's time on Days (she's with Y&R right now, I think), but that makes sense, me being a JnJ fan. :) But they really did weave friendships, as well as romances, and they built relationships and created situations of real emotion then.

Good writers matter, but I think a good producer is also a major piece of the puzzle. I've said before that I think Days lost a its soul when it lost Al Rabin as producer. Either way, I think the prospect of Tomlin as producer or writer is not a good thing. All signs point to him being the major reason for MA being axed (and I'm sure part of the reason we got MR with no MA in the first place), and I remember what Days looked like before Tomlin was ousted, and I don't think it was any better than what we've got now.

I think it would be lovely if characters such as Daniel and (sorry, and there was a time I wouldn't have picked him) Brady were cut. Billie too. I don't think a lot of people have strong emotional ties to any of those three. I'm not saying they don't have fans (or, in the case of Daniel and Brady, they certainly have people who like to look at them), but they are not strong characters. Well, maybe Billie has been okay at times, but I find keeping her now to be odd.

Anyway, I'll be pushing for MA again Thursday, and I do want Tomlin ousted as well. I am completely unfamiliar with Broderick's work, but I do hear good things, though her lack of familiarity with Days does concern me.

The next Matthew Ashford Twitterbomb is Thursday June 7th at 3pm EST/12pm PST! This time we're not tweeting the show, we'll be tweeting the magazines, requesting them to publish a story on our campaign efforts for Matt. There's no doubt that the #RehireMatt campaign reached the show... but reaching out to the magazines now, and getting them to publish a story on what we're doing would be great! It would really add some pressure onto DAYS to get him back! We're not just going to the show anymore, we're also going to magazines... and in the process, we're making them look bad on SOD/SID for having upset so many fans... they'll want to fix it!

The hashtag is...

#PrintFight4Matt

Our 3 targets are: @SoapDigest @soapsindepthcbs @soapsindepthabc

Example tweets:

Quote:

@SoapDigest We made Matthew Ashford trend on Twitter because we want him back! #PrintFight4Matt - http://pic.twitter.com/ufv2GAQb

@SoapDigest We made #RehireMatt trend in protest of @matthew_ashford's firing. Help our fight! #PrintFight4Matt

@SoapDigest Matthew Ashford acknowledged our campaign... can you? #PrintFight4Matt - http://www.facebook.com/matthewashfordspage/posts/399305833443885

@SoapDigest No Matthew Ashford, no #DAYS for us! Help us get our message across! #PrintFight4Matt

This campaign is less about trending, and more about catching the magazines' eyes! Please join us on Thursday as we attempt to get our campaign efforts published! Spread the word!
I was RTing some info earlier about Thursday's twitterbomb to hit up the magazines and this was the response I got from ABC SID's Twitter:

Quote:

"Trust me when I say flooding a magazine's stream will NOT score you any points. Period. I think y'all know I always tell you the straight-up truth. And that's the straight-up truth. LOL. Mags have NO say in comings/goings. period. Best advice? Letters. Not tweets. To DAYS, not us. Only the folks at #DAYS can make that decision. Twitterbombing mags will accomplish nothing. Many execs discount tweets/internet fans. It's easy. Writing a letter takes TIME. Shows EFFORT. I've advised any and every fan campaign to organize on the internet, but use snail mail to have impact.Getting something to trend has no impact on us or execs. And again, MAGS aren't who you need to influence."

We do know that DAYS are taking notice of twitter for feedback but I guess the magazines don't want to be bombarded with stuff. All we realy were planning to do was try and get something printed but we don't want it to have the opposite effect of the original idea.

Yeah, I wonder if the magazines wouldn't want to print something about it, because they fear opening themselves up to being bomb targets in the future? I don't know.

Anyway, sounds like sitting down, writing a few lines on a paper, addressing an envelope and spending 50 cents might be the best thing to do. Though I'll keep tweeting NBC and Days.

CC had an opportunity to come back for story. Crappy yes it was, but I'd rather they let her have a longer break and spend the money on ED. I don't really care to watch another annoying round of Cafe when Kristen can add some real spark and fire to future story. I'm sorry but there is so much more potential for ED.

I really don't think there is much to worry about with CC anyway considering multiple sites have confirmed she was already hired back and she wasn't allowed to comment on it. The one site even mentioned she was only going to be off air two months.

That's interesting. I do think that new tools on the internet tend to have diminishing returns -- the first big twitter bomb is going to have more impact than subsequent ones, especially if they become routine. And seeing some of the campaigns that I haven't been involved in (like #snoballs), there is a fine line between enthusiasm and the perception of spam.

Still I do think twitter and the mags are great tools for campaigns. The mags do have influence in the perception of who is getting buzz.

IA. If twitterbombing the magazines gets our desired results, fans of any character/couple might start doing the same thing. I can understand why the mags wouldn'y want that and how it might have the opposite effect.

I too will start sending out some snail mail letters to TomSell, Evans, McGill...who else?
