J&J4evaJun 5 2012, 04:33 AM I'm on board for twitterbombing for Matt but a twitterbomb for better head writers should be organised too. NBC picked Tomlin to take over probably because the last time Days gained viewers was during the baby switch drama in 2009 when he was in charge. I'll bet his pitch to the network consisted of promoting his new, one dimensional, young characters embroiled in baby switches, Who's the Daddy? sagas and love triangles/quads that make no sense and the vets relegated to the back burner or written out like Jack. It really doesn't matter who is playing out these story lines it won't make for a better product. The show needs better writers.^Agreed. I facebook messaged Richard Allen and Anne Schoettle, writers from the "good ole Days" and actually received a message back from Richard Allen. Ken Corday and the NBC execs even interferred back during the Cruise of Deception time period. Here is what he messaged me: Richard Allen 11:51am Jun 4 Mary I just saw now your kind message, because it went to some strange section of facebook that I never check. Thanks for the very many nice things you said about the days when Anne and I wrote the show. It was a great time for us...unfortunatley the network execs and Ken Corday weren't always so thrilled with our results. I tried to write for the show again in 2003 when Dena Higley was head writing...after 3 episodes, that never went anywhere either. I have been happily teaching college in Texas for almost 20 years now and doubt if Ken would EVER even think about bringing either of us back. But knowing that some viewers like you really enjoyed the stories we wrote and the way we tried to write them (with some real emotion, humor, and focusing on bonds of love and friendship betweren the characters) means more than you can imagine... Sincerely, Richard ************************* I can't quote for some reason on this computer, but I really thought this was nice! I like him JUST becasue of his response! |

Love the response, but in fairness to Corday (can't believe I just wrote that), Allen and Schoettle were responsible for ending Shane and Kim and for the Shayla pairing. The former was a muddled, incoherent mess, though I have always assumed that Patsy Pease's sudden departure was partially to blame for how they ended the amnesia storyline and they were then saddled with Anne Howard for several months. As for Shayla, I thought Allen and Schoettle gave some reasonable and in-character reasons why Shane and Kayla would gravitate to one another, but the writers made mistakes by telegraphing the relationship way too soon after Steve's death and by they way they handled Kim once she returned in February 92. ( On the other hand, their handling of Shayla was far better than what Palumbo did with it when he took over in June 92.) |

^I think Schoettle/Allen were wonderful in many, many ways, but yes, Shayla is their black mark, though I wonder if they kind of got saddled with having to write that pair with SN gone and PP being gone for awhile. As I suppose they had to pair Kayla with someone, I think they should have gone with Kayla/Marcus, but I wonder if the show was still too afraid to go inter-racial then. Anyway, is there still a plan to bomb the mags for MA, or is that looking like it might just tick them off? Edited by AHM, Jun 6 2012, 10:53 AM.

I feel like a postcard campaign is in order, as far as Matt's concerned. Take the time to put some ink to paper, lick a few stamps and send them in. Hell, send in some magazine clippings or scans or something that would make a point, if you can. It's not as easy as tweeting but nobody said this would be easy. |

I think we should do another general twitterbomb. The more actors we include, the better. |

I know I'm in the minority here but I actually liked Shane and Kayla together *ducking rotten tomatoes thrown at me* I was never a big fan of Steve and Kayla and I watched them from the beginning. She was always too sweet of a character to me. With Shane she seemed more real. I liked the scene where they were painting some room (can't remember why) and they we getting paint on each other. I really liked them together. I was never a Shane and Kim fan either. Never liked Patsy Pease. Anyway, I think Allen and Schoettle were probably just trying them out to see how it would go over with the audience but I do agree that it was too soon after Steve's death to put them together. Not sure about that twitterbomb tomorrow, I really don't want it to have the opposite effect. Someone mentioned a postcard or letter campaign for a change, that sounds good to me. |

I agree. We need to concentrate on the vets again! Worried about all of them. Even if they are not let go, they will get no story. |

I'm up for the twitterbomb - actually it's become part of my morning routine since the firing annoucement. I agree the tweets for Christie has waned in the last two weeks because a lot of people still think her return is a done deal. Just because Christie is cleaning out her dressing room now doesn't necessarily mean she won't be returning in a few months. Carrie's still pregnant after all. |

ITA about Al Rabin!!! Besides the sucky writers, I think DOOL is also suffering from too much interference from Network execs. Who do they think they are? Frons from ABC? These suits don't care about or know anything about soaps or DOOL, or what the fans want. They need to get a GOOD writing team in place, and then give that team some time and space. BUT they also need to stop shooting so far in advance!! Tomlin"s plan for that may save money, but it's killing the show. TPTB have to stop thinking short terms and have a longer, bigger vision if this show has any hope of surviving and thriving. Do you think Al Rabin would come back? Nixon came back for AMC. ^I'd twitterbomb for that! He's got to be pretty old by now though. Wikipedia says he's been retired from working in television since the mid-90s (didn't list a birthdate though). I often think Rabin deserves at least as much credit for the "supercouple" thing as Sheri Anderson. Actually, Sheri Anderson didn't even write much for my favorite supercouple. But I think we'd have a better show if Anderson or Rabin were still writing/producing. Sadly, Tomlin is back instead. |

Is the twitterbomb for Thursday cancelled now? I was setting up Twuffer. I need to delete those, if it's considered a bad idea. |

I'm not going to bombard them with tweets, but I am sending a few tweets to them asking them to write about our efforts. I tweeted ABC SID explaining our campaign, after they said "they couldn't bring back Matt". I don't think we ever thought they could, and I told them we were only trying to get our efforts in the magazine to add some pressure onto DAYS. They've sent me nothing in return. |

What are they so PO'd about? Done by anybody else, they seem to welcome this kind of enthusiasm. Jack just doesn't seem to get that kind of love. Nor his fans. They are just not that into us, I guess. LOL! Oh, well! Long live Jack Deveraux!! |

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel that if we start campaigning to oust Tomlin now, before his new stuff airs... that the show and network might feel like they'll never please us... and they'll just end up giving up on Days altogether. I think we might do more harm than good if we act too soon. |

We really need to add Peter Reckell to the list of names on a general twitter bomb. His contract is still up in the air :( |

I want a #FireTomlin campaign. I don't care if NBC decides to just cut Days. I'd rather that than Tomlin run it completely into the ground. |

Honestly, me too. I'd rather see Days canceled than helmed by Tomlin. Besides, there IS some kind of power struggle going on, so there's obviously someone there who is not wanting what Tomlin wants. I don't think Corday wants him, I don't think the cast wants him. |
