No you are not the only one, I find the whole funeral setting unbelievable. I don't know why they could'nt have it at the church.
Seriously...I mean, if you're going to pull out the Chez Rouge set why not the church? Unless it is written that Lexie wanted her service to be a happy event/party? But I don't have that much faith in the writing. More likely is they wanted the CR set for Nicole and Dan's upcoming date. *puke*
My guess is since Ejami just have to dance, Abe and Celeste would not have appreciated them doing so in a church. Hahahahahahahahahaha

Lexie and Sami on friendly terms is on a long list of my least favorite things to happen over the last few years. But of course, everyone has to love Sami.

I like that Will is getting meatier storylines and is not just hanging around with the teen crowd too. I am happy to see how his dynamic with EJ evolves -- I want to see a quick-thinking, no-shit-taking, scheming and more adventurous side of Will's character develop. I just don't like the growing pains I am seeing right now. I skip over a lot of his scenes b/c they make me uncomfortable. His saying things like "Because you told me to stay" when EJ asks why he is still at the DiMansion. A lot of times I can't believe how whimper-y (just made up that word) he is. I don't like it so I don't watch it. But I am being understanding he needs time to season, and am patient for the day Will shows some balls and gets his hands dirty. That is why I am excited for this week's spoilers.
I don't not like the Ejill storyline totally, because I DO want to see an edgier, more interesting Will. I just don't like certain aspects of it, such as this being any excuse to give EJ and Sami any reason to be involved with each other (more than they need to be as co-parents, that is), taking time away from Will sharing scenes with Lucas (disagree with me, but that's what I think is happening), or to see Will acting like a whipping boy at the moment. When he takes a firmer stance and uses his brain to turn the tables on EJ, I will be happy. So if EJill is the platform from which such a storyline will take off, then color me satisfied. I liek that Will is getting meatier stories. I wish Abby did as well. They are ALL in their early 20's. They should all have lives other than hanging out at the coffee shop talking about the Black eyed peas or whatever.

Not having Sami at Lexie's funeral would look worse. Many dysfunctional families still get together in times of crisis, so Sami not being there would be odd. Supporting EJ is not that strange either, in recent epi's MARDAR's tried to bridge the gap in their relationship. Although it may seem like a lame attempt, you can't ignore their efforts.

One eyed Willy wanting his parents to dance at a funeral. Doesn't get much more contrived then that. :shame:

Sami only holds grudges when Sami wants to, and when she's done she's done until she wants to again. It's not like she hasn't done stuff to EJ because of her grudges. Obviously, she doesn't want to hold a grudge against EJ now, for whatever reason. This is nothing new. I like how they were at Stefano's funeral. I thought it was well done. The best part for me was when Sami said, (paraphrasing) "careful, EJ, it almost sounds like we're friends" and EJ said "I wouldn't go that far" and gave her that cute, friendly wink. They have them recognizing how even they think it's crazy they could get to this place again. They are enjoying each other's company in spite of themselves. I love that dynamic right now and to me it does make sense, because they don't have them just pretending like this isn't surprising them both. It is.
I disagree with your first sentence. The ONLY person that I can say with certainty that Sami has forgiven completely and forgotten about all the bad blood between them is Lucas. Aside from that Sami is still holding grudges with virtually everyone she was holding grudges with over 10 years ago. She still can't stand John, she has her beef with Carrie and Marlena, she has her issues with Kate. But with Ej, it's never actually made sense for her to be fine one minute and then hating on him the next and then back to fine, etc. After over a decade of fighting custody battles for Will, lying and scheming to get him away from Lucas for no reason other than to try to trap Austin with the idea of being around for Will, she does NOTHING like that with Ej. She gives him Johnny as if he deserved a prize for his behavior. It's so freaking out of character it's ridiculous....look how it is that the ONLY way that Sami was able to get full custody of both Johnny and Syd was when Ej GAVE it to her.
Sami did seem to forget the bad blood between she and Lucas but I would never think it out of character for her to recall it again if it suited her purposes. She would. She has with Lucas. Their history is not one consistent and fluid dynamic. Sami got along with him and all was forgotten in the moment, and then they'd break up and she'd do and say what she needed to say against him, if she felt it was justified in the moment. So no, that's not the way I see the Lumi history at all. Just as with any of Sami's men, she forgives and forgets when she wants to, but none of them should be surprised when her vengeful self can rear its ugly head again and stuff will come back to bite them in the ass. Same with John. They made a huge deal out of Sami finally making peace with him and all was seemingly right with the world. Then, when things don't go her way and she needs someone to blame, yes, she rakes John back over the coals. That's just how she rolls. I don't see why or how EJ should be an exception to this rule. The back and forth in terms of grudges is expected and I don't mind that....I hated when Nicole and Sami became besties..but that was a plot point and it went along with humanizing Nicole a bit after Grace's death, it worked but I still hated it, lol. Her grudges can come and go but Sami in character would never gloss over EVERYTHING and she's done it twice apparently with Will's blackmail. I know I'm jumping the gun based on a sentence of written spoilers so maybe we'll just have to see how it plays out next week, but for Sami to go confront Ej about the blackmail and then forget it, pat him in the shoulder and say, "yeah sorry your sister is dead..she and I didn't get along but whatever, she loved you...yada, yada...." and likely never mention the fact that she's pissed that he continues to blackmail Will again is really my issue with this show and has been for the longest time. But then again, we really don't know what the plan is, or if she's going to come back to get her revenge for what Ej is doing to Will, or what not....it's still to early to tell...but Sami in character would have likely gone to the repast for the SOLE purpose of chewing Ej out and left with her kids after she gave Ej a piece of her mind. Sami never seemed to care about others feelings or what they were going through either.

I think it will be soo cute. At Johnny's age it's completely natural to want to see his parents like that. If he's 16 and still harping on them to be "together", then I'll have issues and think the kid needs to get a grip.

I think it is very sweet that Johnny wants his parents to dance. I can just see him and Sydney standing to the side while they watch their parents dance and fall in love all over again... super sweet imo!

and how exactly do we know 'what stories MarDar wanted to tell?" was it Ejole reuniting and having a baby or was it Ejami getting closer or was it Lumi getting back together? Or maybe it was Cafe? Or Dicole? OR Racole? There is so much WTFery in all of the writing that until we hear from someone or we wait till September to figure it out, no one can say anything with certainty. having someone come in and take control of what use to be PR's role doesn't surprise me because it happens as the former leads get older. It's a staple on a soap....look at AS taking over Dee's role...look at Ej taking over Stefano's role...it happens....but what happened to PR seems to be directly related to Tomlin being back in some capacity...and MarDar being gone.
In my opinion, AS has never and COULD never take over DH's role. they tried that and it failed miserably. Swiney is no Deidre. Sami is DEFINITELY no Marlena! lol
I understand, but I just wanted to make the point that it's not unforeseen for it to happen....it's the nature of soaps....obviously those that have been on for decades that the new generation, specifically the 30s set takes over for the older generation those in the late 40s and 50s. But PR's issue IMHO was more about the old/new writers than it is about the new generation taking over for the old....it sucks...but it is what it is. I understand that different generations "take over" eventually...but the fact that they thought Sami of all people would be the one to fill Marlena's shoes was ridiculous from the get-go. Same deal with Rafe being "the new Bo." He hasn't earned it. He's not nearly as interesting. Hell, he's not interesting at all. It sucks. We definitely agree there lol

I guess I saw something different. They seem to spend maybe a whole episode of Sami trying to lift EJ's spirits and seeing the silver lining in his father's death, while understanding his relationship with this father. I don't expect it to be extremely huggy and whatnot, considering their relationship at the moment, but comforting? I think so. And I would figure death of a sister >>> finding out EJ blackmailed her kid in terms of importance for the moment. It wouldn't surprise me if she is upset but is respectful to a degree due to the circumstances.
Sami only holds grudges when Sami wants to, and when she's done she's done until she wants to again. It's not like she hasn't done stuff to EJ because of her grudges. But she's been inconsistent with her hate with most people, so why not with EJ? I thought it was odd that Sami didn't fight for custody of Johnny as a newborn, but her actions with Grace were worse than the original lie about Will. At least with Will, she didn't set out to deceive Lucas from day one. She was also planning a custody battle after the double Rafe story. EJ just ended things before they began.

We'll see how it plays out. Maybe Lexie stressed she wanted a 'celebration' of life more than a mourning? An Irish wake minus alot of Irish Whiskey and toasts? If so, her nephew is right in step with his aunt's last wishes. Obviously, I don't think Johnny is going to cue music all by himself. There's obviously music already playing in the background and/or maybe people already dancing. The kid's good but not that good. He must get the idea from somewhere.
But if little Johnny wanted to dim the lights a bit and cue Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" as EJami start to dance, I'd buy the kid a new pony. :D

Whether we agree they were the right reasons or not, she had a valid argument....she already was forced into raising one child into that family, she didn't want another suffering the same, but then why didn't she at least try to prevent the first one from that at all? It never made sense to me, but then again Sami's actions the last 5 years at least haven't made sense to me either.....

One eyed Willy wanting his parents to dance at a funeral. Doesn't get much more contrived then that. :shame:
It's actually been used before on this show, not just for Lumi either. So if it is contrived for EJami, I guess Lumi was contrived, so was Jack & Jen, etc....etc.... I think it will be soo cute. At Johnny's age it's completely natural to want to see his parents like that. If he's 16 and still harping on them to be "together", then I'll have issues and think the kid needs to get a grip.
yeah you don't really see Will supporting his parents getting back together, I think Will is going to be one of Ejami's biggest supporters. Will doesn't want his mother with ANY man, lol.....he doesn't want her back with his dad because he fears she will once again hurt him, same for Rafe and as for Ej, he doesn't want that either.

but with the others it wasn't at a funeral....lol and I had issues with Sami in her 20s wanting to have Roman and Marlena together.....I sometimes can't believe I liked that character so much, lol
I'm guessing it's not the funeral portion since it's at Chez Rouge. :D You aren't going to buy him a new penguin? or FBI jacket...the old one must be in ruins since he used it so much.
I kid....I kid

but with the others it wasn't at a funeral....lol It makes sense to me. Sex after your child dies, dancing after your sister died. I guess they forgot to do something in between, like making out to mark Stefano's death.
Seriously though, even irl, a lot of people see no difference between a funeral and a regular family gathering.
