She really shouldn't do interviews.

I wonder if her "stalker" is connected to the big event that likely leads to many of the exits?

That would be really bizarre considering Gabi seems to have no connection to anyone leaving in the big event. It would be a stretch to even explain why she would be there.

It's too bad that the plural departures probably include Andrew. He is one of the best additions to the show in ages.

My only thought is that Andrew has to pull some crazy stunts to keep Melanie hidden and that it snowballs. Unlikely, but seems a possibility given Camilla's answer. Considering her other non-answers, it probably means nothing.

LOL @ the "good for the _________, bad for the ________" line she kept using.

I also think that Gabi's stalker SL is going to be that "explosive" event before the Olympics.

I havent decided whether its ok for me to watch, or not ok to watch....but its good for "Gabi fans?"

I'm not a big fan of Gabi at all (though I do prefer the crazy loon version of the character) but I can't totally blame Camilla for this interview.

TPTB have obviously put gag-orders on the actors so I don't understand why they keep approving interview requests. If they can't say anything, then why wast everyone's time.

Thanks for the interview. You asked good questions, which most interviews wouldn't ask. I felt a little sorry for her as she seemed to be trying her best to answer, it was just very awkward to read.

Lame answers. Lame character. And we should care about Gabi because . . . ?

I kind of love this interview. Whoever said "dingy" is spot-on. It was almost like someone tried to help prepare her to answer these kinds of questions, but she's not quite there with how to handle it yet. And she's terrified of backlash for saying anything.

I hope there's not really a nice girl deep down inside Gabi. They need a full-on, unrepentant bitch, imho. Gabi could do that nicely. I wish the actress would embrace that. Make us love to hate your character instead of...just hating her (or, more accurately, generally indifferent).

I like Camila Banus. She's no Eve yet, but with work I think she could be. I used to like her with Will. I agree she could be used in various ways. I doubt the writer's ability to use her more than I doubt that CB could play out the stories.

The only issue I really have with Gabi is she's related to Rafe, and the less family he has in town, the better the chance for him to leave.

I think it matters more if Sami is in town. As it is now, it's as though Gabi and Rafe are strangers.

My reaction to current Y&R ...

Gabi is my favourite of the "teen" cast (Chad, Melanie, Abigail, etc), but this storyline is making her look so pathetic.

If Gabi is responsible for whatever happens before the Olympic cliffhanger, at least that's something for this character to do. She's so boring! Even this good girl, turned bad thing they have going is boring. And I completely disagree with what she said about Gabi being diverse. She's not. At all.

I actually kind of like crazy pathetic Gabi, at least in theory. No doubt the story will under-deliver but that's true of everything lately. Andrew is the real keeper though, yes, too bad he'll probably go with Melanie.

Giving interviews is definately not that girls forte. That being said, sure sounds like Andrew is going to somehow be responsible for the pre-Olympics explostion. Since it is rumored that Madison meets her maker, that's a plus in my book. Unfortunately, it's not enough to overlook Gabi's one glaring character flaw - she's just plain boring.

Alot of this makes no sense. What is she talking about referring to the departures? She makes it sound like they have something to do with Gabi which makes less than no sense.
Is she referring to Melanie's departure?? so confusing! What a crappy interview with great questions. LAME!

Earlier today, Daytime Royalty had the chance to catch up with Camila Banus. See what she has to say about the changes behind the scenes, the Hernandez family, and The Soup.

We’ve been hearing about some pretty big changes going on at Days. How will those changes affect Gabi?
Well, I can’t really say a lot, but I am going to say that Gabi’s actions indirectly affect a lot of people. So a lot of people that are going to be leaving the show in the next couple of weeks could or could not be because of Gabi’s actions. I can’t really say much.

Will these changes be good or bad?
It depends on what you consider good changes. I mean, you already know that Patrick, Christie, Matthew, and Sarah are going to be leaving the show. So that could be good for some people. That could be bad for some people. There are changes coming up that I feel are going to be good for Gabi, and I feel that what is good for Gabi is going to be good for the fans.

When the show has these big turnovers, how does that affect morale on the set?
It affects everything. Especially with the writing because people start storylines and then other people have to finish them. So you don’t have the same person writing the same storylines, so things change. That can be weird. That can be good for the storyline, and that can be bad for the storyline. As far as people leaving, it always sucks. Especially since we have such an amazing cast, and everybody’s so great. It gets so hard for people to leave because we get used to working with them every day. When they do leave, it’s kind of like something’s weird. Something’s off.

You have survived two major cast purges in your time at Days. What is it about Gabi that you think makes the writers want to continue to use her?
I just feel like Gabi is very dynamic. She’s been playing such a really nice girl for a long time, and I think they know that Gabi can play a lot of different spectrums. They know that Gabi can go from a good girl to a million different types of personalities because she is so diverse. She can go from being a very nice girl to being motherly, and then from motherly to being very devious. There’s a lot of different things that the writers can work for Gabi.

How is fan feedback for you?
It’s been hard, especially lately because of what Gabi’s been doing. On Twitter I’ve been getting a lot of mean comments, but that’s okay. I’m okay with that because fans are going to be fans, and they’re going to fall in love with characters and they’re going to hate characters. That’s okay. It’s just been negative recently because Gabi is trying to steal Chad away from Melanie.

Did you see the clip they used on The Soup?
I did. How embarrassing! But I have to say in my defense, if I ever opened a salad and even saw anything brown...I don’t even have to know that it’s a rat. I’m still going to react before even knowing it’s a rat. And honestly...I’m going to say one more thing. The tail was sticking out! Okay? No, it’s fine. I”m good with it. I’m good.

On-line, the Hernandez family is pretty controversial. What do you think about that?
All the families are controversial. Everyone has an opinion on them. There’s people that love the DiMeras. There’s people that hate the DiMeras. There’s people that love the Bradys. There’s people that hate the Bradys. It’s going to happen with every family. That’s the beauty of having fans, and that’s the beauty of having different storylines. Sometimes people are going to love the Hernandez family, and sometimes people will be like, “Whoa! Remove these people from the show right now.” That’s what makes good television.

What did you think about Gabi’s part in Will’s coming out story?
I think that Gabi played a really big part in his coming out because...I’m not saying that it made him realize he was gay, but it made him realize that there was a problem. And I think it made him realize that there was something not right inside, and there was something that he needed to clear within himself. And I think that being in a relationship with someone who really wanted to be with him and he couldn’t reciprocate those feelings, there’s some self analysis that I need to do.

Do you have a favorite moment from Days?
When Kinsey stole my earrings. Or when I thought Kinsey stole my earrings. That was fun because I got to scream at her and yell at her and curse at her. Even though she’s a great person, and I would never do that in real life, because Shelby is awesome.

Is there anything else you’d like to say to the fans?
Even though Gabi is in a really dark space right now, be patient with her. They know deep down inside is a nice person, and she’ll be good again.
OK.....I always, IF I come out against an intity on this sad, fallen, and degraded show, go after either the idiots behind the scenes running the damn thing into the ground, or useless characters. This is the first time I am going to pick a Actor/Actress to harp on. Of all the Hernandez family, she is my fave, but that doesn't say much, does it? And of course....she is going to be front and center with Tomlin in control, so she will be our new "Melanie"....This show just can't help but prop characters 80% of the fans loathe.

"Changes coming up that are good for Gabi" = No shit sherlock. You have the Hernandez greatest fan writing this show again.

"Whats good for Gabi is Good for the Fans" = Good for the 15% of fans that actually want your family on. The rest of us...it just means more free time on my lunch break.

"Patrick, Christie, Matthew, and Sarah are going to be leaving the show. So that could be good for some people." = Earth to Camilla.....3 of those actors portray legacy characters whom have been a major part of this show while you were still lodged in your mother's ovary. The other, Sarah Brown, is a very talented actress absolutely wasted on the canvas. She could have done wonders. Now, we lose them, and you are still here. The destruction of what makes this show feel like a second home for me is bad, and it's bad for everyone who has watched this show more than six months.

"There's people who love the Dimeras. There's people who hate the Dimeras. There's people that love the Brady's. There's people that hate the Brady's."
Oh My God. This one is the one that got me the most. The Bradys have been part of this show for more than 30 years. The Dimeras have been on just about 30 years now. How in God's name can she even compare her on screen family to that sort of legacy. I understand she was trying to make light of the fact that opinions vary, but the real truth is the Bradys have overwhelming support from the fans. They came into the show slowly, were woven in, and gave Days a HUGE boost in the mid 80's. The Dimeras? I will say it...the Dimeras are probably the most popular villanous family in the entire history of soaps. They are notorious, legendary, and when written correctly, sensationally complicated. Stefano, Tony, Andre, Anna, Lexie, Kristen, Peter, EJ.....and I could go on.....and she thinks it's the same thing? NO. We love to hate the Dimeras. I don't love to hate the Hernandez.....I just hate them.

So, to close....I know she is young, and I shouldn't be so hard on her, but Mother of God she doesn't get it, or this show, or it's fans. The interviewer did exceptional. The fact is, I hate Daniel Jonas, but when Shawn gives an interview he does a great job with it. I don't want him to stay on Days a second longer, but atleast he acknowledges the truth and doesn't come across as clueless or disprespectful to the show's history.

Gabi is not dynamic. She is not diverse. She only has four fans, and that's counting herself and her parents.

Why is she still here?

I guess I kind of feel for her, because it has to be hard to sell a character like Gabi, but this interview is basically the written equivalent of the patent Hernandez blank stare. Well, except for the information that people are leaving because of Gabi. Can she please get someone seriously hurt, then go to jail?
