I don't know what it is about Greg Vaughan in this role, but people have theorized him in it for years despite him looking nothing like Jensen Ackles, Alison Sweeney, Deidre Hall or any Roman, and despite him being a touch old for it. But his is always the first name suggested.
I was just about to bring this up. I like Greg but I never envisioned him for Eric Brady. I always thought he would be GREAT for Shawn Brady. I could see him in that role because he just looks the part. I could buy him as the son of Bo and Hope. Not sure I can buy him as Roman and Marlena's son and Sami's twin BUT he's a good actor and he will be a much better screen partner opposite Arianne Zucker than Eric Martsolf is. She will also have sizzling chemistry with him too. I like Martsolf but unless they can get Nadia Bjorlin back, I think his time may be up, sadly. I don't know what they can do with him.
He is too old to play Shawn though. He is going to be 40 next year.
I don't factor in real-life ages. If we did that, we could argue that most of this show is miscast. Lauren Koslow is way to young to play the mother to the actors that play her kids. What about how close in age Tanya Boyd and Renee Jones were? I could go on and on. Sometimes people look younger or older than they are. How many times has a show casted someone in their 20's or 30's in a teenager role? They did that with some of the Last Blast teens and other shows have done it too. GV, to me, looks younger than he is. Jay Kenneth Johnson is 35. Martha Madison is 35. Jason Cook is 32 and Brandon Beemer is 32 as well. Nadia Bjorlin will be 32 too. Vaughn is only a little older than Jay and Martha and not a huge amount older than the others. Regardless, I think he will do fine in the role. I just never envisioned him as Eric. Real ages do not always matter if the person looks and seems younger. I agree about Kate's kids. The only ones that fit are Bryan and Jay. Lisa Rinna and Patrick Muldoon look her age or even older.
Going by pictures of Greg, he looks way too old to be a child of Hope's. Jason Cook may be almost 32, but he could play 25-30 easily.

Sometimes actors' chemistry doesn't live up to the hype. I would rather wait and see AZ/GV and even then I still want EJole to be endgame, they have a child on the way, one that was conceived in love despite MarDar's poison pen since the reveal. At least I am sure of their chemistry, it's not ebbed away since they were torn apart unceremoniously and kept apart for unrealistic amounts of time.....obsessive EJ staying away from a wife he clearly loves, who he knows is carrying his child....yeah right!

I don't get why he is coming back, if he is going to be paired up with Nicole. Why have her preggo with EJ's baby? She could have gotten pregnant with his eventually! For this reason alone I am not on board with her pairing up with him.
I still want Ejole.

Greg Vaughan is good at playing the slightly flawed character, but Eric Brady has always been just a good innocent guy. It will be a chance and I hope they don't just make him Brady part 2...basically a whiny drunken fuck up. Greg Vaughan during Lucky's drug addiction put anything that Eric Martsolf has ever done in his life to shame.
I wouldn't call Eric innocent. He did cheat on Greta with Nicole.
LoL, wasn't that at that Titan photo lab? I remember Nicole snapping pictures without Eric's knowledge and later mailing the photos to Greta so she would dump him. Come to think of it, they should totally bring Greta back, the show needs females in that age bracket...and she has a history with Eric & Lucas amongst others...

Greta was such a BORING character....she'll be no match for either Sami or Nicole. I wish Carrie stayed or even Madison. I liked both actresses.

I still want Ejole. The people who wrote in a Nicole pregnancy are not the same ones who knew Eric was coming.
As for Eric, he also slept with Nicole while she was with Lucas. He had his moments where he did the wrong thing, but all in all, he's the least gray of all the men in that group, assuming he hasn't done anything wrong in the what, ten years?, that he was gone. Actually, didn't he get mixed up in some of Sami and Nicole's schemes, too? Although iirc, he never willingly got involved.
On Greta - I'd like to have her come back just to find out who her father is. TBH, she could leave after that, but it'd be nice if that story was wrapped up.

I’m just happy that Nicole may finally end up as the center of a potential triangle. I don’t see her ending up with Eric though, as she is a grey character and would be a better fit with EJ.

IMO, this show is old person top heavy as it is (and this is coming from an old person!). This show keeps aging their characters older and older by casting older and older actors in what should be younger-ish roles. And, yes, I still have problems with Eric Martsolf as Brady because I feel he's too old for the part (and looks too old even though we're the same age and I WISH I could look that young).

Greta mingled with the 20s crowd when she was around, so I still put her around the mid late 30s bracket.....if the actress is 40, then fine, so are GG, BD, EM .....but I do think that they need at least 2 females in their mid 30s to early 40 age range

I agree that the show is in desperate need of some people in their early to mid 20s, maybe some unseen legacy kids, and shelle, Philip, Chloe etc.* but unless some of the guys in their 40s are on their way out, they'll need something to do besides be involved with Sami and Nicole.
*Yes, I'm aware that with the exception of Belle #1 the actors are all in their thirties.

If this show NEEDS a late 30ish female, they should bring on Sarah Horton who is almost entirely a blank slate who has TIES to the canvas as Maggie's daughter. Unfortunately, despite what SORASed age she should really be (as Carrie's HS BFF & contemporary), but stating that Daniel (the father of a 20something daughter) is YOUNGER than Sarah (or, at the very least, the same age) they've needlessly aged Sarah off-screen to somewhere at least in her mid40s. Meanwhile, if an age appropriate Sarah were to come on (late 30s), you could THEN introduce a SORASed for the first time Noelle Curtis (Sarah's bio-half-sister) who would also be mid-30s.
Sometimes I swear TPTB deliberately fight against this show's ability to logically write itself.

That would make for interesting scenes between she and Marlena if the writers wanted to explore that dynamic.

I've been in favor of Sarah Horton, with a possible Sarah/Brady and drug addiction side story for awhile. IMO, the line about Sarah and Daniel could be easily ignored. I do think that if they quietly undo the 'John is a DiBrady' story it might be nice to revisit the John/Greta story. Maybe it could even be used to give Hope something to do.
Where are Neil and Liz?

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep

Neil & Liz divorced after Liz left to move to California to pursue her music career (when Gloria Loring left the show). Neil pretty much disappeared from the show with no mention. Presumably, he's off wherever Don Craig is (and I'm assuming they're both keeping Stephanie Johnson company). Neil went to perform rounds at the hospital 20 years ago and was never seen again.

DAYS really is going to need a new female in the Sami/Nicole age bracket....it warps my mind why Christie Clark was fired, she is EXACTLY what we need in that group right now.

I was thinking this exact same thing. If there's so big disaster that kills off people, I don't know why the show didn't use that opportunity to kill off Austin (while Carrie was with Rafe?) which would then cause Carrie immense guilt (throwing up another roadblock to Cafe). Meanwhile, Carrie is still pregnant with Austin's child which draws Kate in as the baby's grandmother who also partly blames Carrie for Austin's death and makes her determined to keep Rafe/Carrie apart while also proving that Carrie is unfit to raise her grandchild, then putting Kate in direct opposition to Marlena...
See. This fucking shit just writes itself.
