This is why I think ED's return played a role in what has happened with Reckell, Ashford, and Clark. I think Corday is the person in power who cares about the vets. That is why they never badmouth him in the press and keep coming back, no matter how many times he kicks them to the curb or they're treated like shit. I think Sony cares about whatever it is they like and NBC cares about making a profit and economics. |

Yep. Exactly. You can tell how much it ate at him in 2008 when he had to get rid of Drake and Dee. He kept referring to what the show was going through as "painful." He's the vet supporter in all this. |

Oh, I think John and Marlena will be used, but it won't be their story with Kristen. Since they're Sami's parents, it ties them to EJ and whatever Kristen will be brought back to do in support of the character, which will allow them to interact. But the days of a Marlena/John/Kristen storyline are far behind us, I'm afraid. |

OK- quickly- I have read only the first page on this- and so far NOTHING FROM KENNY??!!?? I'm sure he's somewhere in these 14 pages, either that, or he passed out at reading the actual news and someone needs to check and make sure he is OK. |

I am happy for all of you longterm fans who are thrilled by Eileen's return to the show. I hope the writers treat her well. However, I don't watch this show for its heterosexuals. I never watched an episode of this show until Sonny arrived in town. If Days intends on cutting its gay content or desexualizing its gay characters (as if that is even possible with the practically asexual writing for Will and Sonny), then I will stop watching it. If the show wants to say "Fuck you!" to the fans of these characters, then I will return the favor by reducing its viewership by as many people as I can convince to dump this disgusting cess pool of bigotry. |

I dunno. I don't agree that the show has this major plan in place for her. I just don't buy it. Just like the big returns of the past? Steve/Kayla, Tony/Anna, Austin/Carrie (return #1) of 2005/2006? Carly and Vivian in 2009. Austin, Carrie, Jack, Lucas, Billie, Jennifer ... Jack's promising PTSD storyline was kiboshed by NBC and he and Jennifer were given nothing to do. I won't totally blame MarDar. And they WERE all promising returns. I particularly enjoyed MarDar's efforts at giving John/Marlena/Carrie/Austin/Jack some new material. It sucks things were nixed. I think Carrie was finally on the verge of not being tied to life to Austin (and vice versa). She wasn't perfect. And Jack's PTSD being nixed really pisses me off to no end. That's why soaps are failing. I promise you viewers would rather watch that than say Gabi get a dead rat in her salad. Lucas and Billie are still new enough and I've enjoyed them immensely. I really hope Tomlin keeps Bryan Dattilo and Lucas. I was always meh to him (sorry! I know he's popular around here), but I feel like he has a nice place on the canvas. Same for Billie, though she has zero purpose. Lisa Rinna's basically just there to cash a paycheck in her cameo every month. I'm sorry. I'm just concerned for Kristen's return. I can't help it. And I'm not saying everything was wrong with all of the other returns, they all came on with some form of storyline but once that ran out, it was clear all of the different writers (Hogan/Higley-Tomlin/MarDar) had no idea what to do with them or were forced to backburner them (didn't Hogan swear up and down NBC/Corday forced him to NOT use the vets?). Which is why under Hogan they were relegated to reading letters for what felt like decades. And this is kinda OT, but fits with my post ... is Peggy McCay not being used because she's sick and unable to or is it because NBC wants youth, thus Kayla slowly taking Caroline's place at the Pub? I mean, Higley and Tomlin wrote the heck out of Caroline. Granted, I don't want super nutso Caroline back, but it did make sense she might of snapped (though we should have seen the reasoning behind Caroline's transformation). Even though in my head I made total sense out of it because it was nice to see her get something to do. I'll give Higley/Tomlin this, they used Caroline and Maggie a great deal and I appreciated them for that. I loved Maggie again. Too bad Mar/Dar turned her into a shrew. I will stand by my statement that I don't buy they have a major storyline in place for her. I mean, they could, but we all know what Kristen is going to be relegated to. Either supporting EJ (or corrupting him again, which I would love), bitching at Marlena and John. What real storyline can they give her? Who would she LOGICALLY be paired romantically with? NO ONE cared about Kristen when she was thought dead. Granted, the initial return will be GOLD. We all know that. It's the followup that counts and I just DO NOT trust the writers, or NBC or Corday. And BELIEVE ME. I am beyond ecstatic that Kristen's back. Kristen and Marlena in that secret room is what FULLY got me into Days. I was just beyond hooked. I am BEYOND BEYOND BEYOND thrilled she's likely returning. I just wish I could be happier about it. Sorry! I usually try not to be a debbie downer, just trying to approach it realistically and I can't say I think I'll be wrong. Three/four different writers have proven they aren't capable of sustaining the returning characters. MarDar, MAYBE. I'd really like to know what NBC has nixed over the years. |

Me too! Once DAYS is cancelled, I pray E! True Hollywood Stars does one on the soap. We could finally hear about these power struggles behind the scene from actors, writers, producers, directors, etc. |

If it is pretty confirmed that she is returning then what is taking the official confirmation so long? |

The show still hasn't confirmed the firings of the vets (MA, CC, PM, SJB) nor have they confirmed the hiring of BB, who is already tweeting from the set. ED herself is more likely to tweet and confirm before the show says anything. IIRC, the last hiring/firing confirmed by the show was the change-up in the writers (firing of MarDar, hiring of TomSell/Broderick). |

Just a note - Nelson did NOT say Chandler is leaving. He said the story may go on the backburner and that Chandler "is expected to leave" (with no source named) when his contract is up. In other words - typical Nelson garbage, where he's right no matter what happens. |

I cannot understand why Y&R said "no" to ED about doing both shows. DAYS let Susan Hayes go to Y&R to play Lauren's mom for some episodes couple of years ago or so, why couldn't Y&R let her do DAYS?? Yes, SH is on arecurring role on DAYS but still, she is part of the DOOL cast & she allowed to go! |

I don't think that's true at all. Jamey certainly has his sources, but from everything we've seen, Sony emphasizes the vets while NBC wants to skew younger. I mean, take the book tour as an example. That was "vet-heavy" with some of the younger younger group in there. The 'middle agers' were conspicuously absent. Or look at the daysofourlives.com site, which is run by Sony. SO many articles about the vets in comparison to the NBC site. |

Y&R probably feels above DAYS. DAYS may have done that as a favor to Susan Seaforth Hayes too, more than as a favor to Y&R. Who knows if it was Y&R or CBS with the real issue? |

The book tour and the show are so different though. They know that long time fans are more likely to buy the book. The show is supposed to be aimed at creating a newer generation of viewers. They don't expect them to buy a book about the history of the show. I'm not saying Sony always treats vets bad or that NBC treats vets good, just that Sony isn't as pro-vets as everyone is acting. I think Corday is the only true supporter of the veterans. Someone buying a book about the history of the show is going to want to see Doug and Julie, John and Marlena. Doesn't mean Sony wants them featured on the show. |

They probably said no because they know how popular Eileen was on Days. They would rather keep her on contract and not use her than let her go to a rival soap that might actually benefit from it. |

Chandler Massey possibly leaving when his contract is up is not surprising folks. We have seen the younger generation all bolt off before. As for Eileen, woohooo. I am so excited to have Kristen possibly back, just don't get injured or sick girl, cause Dr. McPerv will fall in love. |

I am with you LP. As a straight female who Meng things isn't interested in watching gay romance he's full of shit. Though it's probably him as the mouthpiece for NBC so I guess they are full of shit. It was the gay story that me back to watching the show again and I will stop if this is true and I'm almost to that point because so many things fit this being true. Even if Chandler was leaving the show it makes no sense because he is signed for another year and a half. It's there easy excuse for not showing any more "gay" on the show. I don't get why even put Sonny on so much coming up? It's either to give days owed to him since they could have easily just wrote him off since he wasn't shown for three months any way and they still had Will as a gay character. Or maybe they are going to bring in a different love interest for him and first they need to build him as a character. Yeah right, who am I kidding with the latter as this is typical Kish treatment with give the "gay character" lots of airtime before the grand exit. And there is no mention of Will even being involved in the meaty story coming up. One would think he'd at least be involved some how. I'd be ok with seeing a new guy come on for Sonny if Chandler really wanted to leave now now but he's signed for another year and a half... It just makes no sense to put Sonny on a lot when he hasn't even had been on any way. Many fans forgot who he was unless the plan is to kill him off and Will to feel lost and leaves town. Nothing would shock me :( . The fact this show has been more willing to show more sexually laced dialogue between Will and EJ with a relationship that is going nowhere vs. showing a real and raw guy-guy romance since the gay scene began pretty much sums it up. It's so insulting. Fine if some people enjoy Will/EJ it but it's offensive they showed that sick shit and won't even show a true romance of two gay guys. Don't even get me started on the fact that Abby/Cameron are headed for their second kiss after only knowing each other a couple of months and Will and Sonny will probably never share a kiss after knowing each other for a year and counting... |

Ok - we'll have to disagree. And I think the only person Corday is a supporter of is himself. |
