I don't know how to take the news about the gay storyline being put on the backburner. Its already there, IMO. I thought with all of the "I spy..."'s involving Freddie Smith that we would finally get some movement, but it could just be a summer storyline to see if it attracts any viewers. The problem is the 3 month thing. Nelson didn't say that Chandler is being backburnered so I just think we won't be getting a "gay story", but we will still be getting a lot of Will. I want to see DAYS grow some balls and play out the gay storyline, but Will is SO much more than that and doesn't need to be put in that corner. I wish if that was the case that they would bring on someone else for Sonny, but I'm confident that won't happen.

As far as Chandler Massey leaving I don't even know why it should be discussed now because that is so far down the road who knows what's going to happen? I expected him to leave at his first chance, just didn't know it was so far away.

Just a note - Nelson did NOT say Chandler is leaving. He said the story may go on the backburner and that Chandler "is expected to leave" (with no source named) when his contract is up. In other words - typical Nelson garbage, where he's right no matter what happens.
That is Nelsons calling card. He is always cloudy on the details, but puts out information that will no doubt be somewhat true because of it's ambiguity.

Of course Chandler Massey will eventually want to leave. I like him, he's a very good actor, but actors his age never stay on soaps forever anymore. That's a no brainer.

I do, however, believe MOST of the Eileen story. It just fits the evidence in front of us too closely. Every so often, Nelson nails it. This time, he has. Does that make him a good "journalist".......notice the qoutations and you see what i think. :blah:

lol Well its hard to even credit him in any way right now with the Emmys just happening. I'm sure a lot of people heard that story from drunken Y&R actors and friends of Eileen Davidson. Nelson is the only person with the lack of class willing to put it out there.

Chandler Massey possibly leaving when his contract is up is not surprising folks. We have seen the younger generation all bolt off before.

As for Eileen, woohooo. I am so excited to have Kristen possibly back, just don't get injured or sick girl, cause Dr. McPerv will fall in love.
God help me if they put Kristen with Daniel. That is beneath her. Kristen was very manipulative and down right evil, but sexually she didn't just lay down with anyone. She has a lot of sex appeal, but she's no whore.

Kristen is back, and I place my bet on John and Marlena having a part in this thing. Their history is waaaaay too meshed together to be ignored. John and Marlena will have to play a role in this, and that thrills me. Marlena fighting with Kristen has given me some of my greatest memories of this show.

Sonny is not a summer story from the sounds of it. It sees like more of a fall story. Either way the show has explained in their own way that it's ok for a gay guy to "talk it" with a straight guy but not ok to "talk it" nor "act on it" with another gay guy.

So glad they didn't toy with the idea of bringing Lowder back as Eric. Never could understand why he's so desired. I never thought he was a great actor like people claim he is.
I never saw what a lot of other people did either. Another reason I'm glad is that real life couples often don't mesh well on screen.

I'd forgotten what Vanessa Marcil looked like before her chipmunk cheeks.

After today's episode, it's clear that there is a plan to move Wilson forward, and we know Sonny's going to get a storyline. I'm sure we'll get some kind of romance - including at least kisses - for them before the story is dialed back (if it is).

I always figured Wilson's shelf life would be the life of CM's contract. And that it would never be more than a B plot, never given the air time of pairings involving EJ, Sami or even Nicole. It may be the most interesting romance they've got going, thanks to the timidity induced slow build, but that doesn't mean they ever would make it an A plot.

But this is a case where the three months ahead will work in Wilson's favor. We'll get some kind of romance, then they will probably be in love and moved into roles a supporting players in other stories. Not shocking.

Eh, I wouldn't be so sure about that.

Today's episode was written and taped before the regime change.

I have been waiting for this day since April 1998. Halle-freakin-lujah!!

I want Marlena to be heavily involved - these two were made for each other. Imagine the look on Marlena's face when Kristen walks into the room!!!

And please keep ED away from AS, unless Sister Mary is giving her another slap.

A few months back, I would have been anticipating the day he left but I hope he stays. I grew to like him and respect him as a young actor, if they are looking to get rid of teens, they can start with Gabby.

Will working with Ej is one of the highlights of the show and I will hate to see him leave.

I am happy for all of you longterm fans who are thrilled by Eileen's return to the show. I hope the writers treat her well.

However, I don't watch this show for its heterosexuals. I never watched an episode of this show until Sonny arrived in town. If Days intends on cutting its gay content or desexualizing its gay characters (as if that is even possible with the practically asexual writing for Will and Sonny), then I will stop watching it. If the show wants to say "Fuck you!" to the fans of these characters, then I will return the favor by reducing its viewership by as many people as I can convince to dump this disgusting cess pool of bigotry.
I am with you LP. As a straight female who Meng things isn't interested in watching gay romance he's full of shit. Though it's probably him as the mouthpiece for NBC so I guess they are full of shit. It was the gay story that me back to watching the show again and I will stop if this is true and I'm almost to that point because so many things fit this being true. Even if Chandler was leaving the show it makes no sense because he is signed for another year and a half. It's there easy excuse for not showing any more "gay" on the show. I don't get why even put Sonny on so much coming up? It's either to give days owed to him since they could have easily just wrote him off since he wasn't shown for three months any way and they still had Will as a gay character. Or maybe they are going to bring in a different love interest for him and first they need to build him as a character. Yeah right, who am I kidding with the latter as this is typical Kish treatment with give the "gay character" lots of airtime before the grand exit. And there is no mention of Will even being involved in the meaty story coming up. One would think he'd at least be involved some how. I'd be ok with seeing a new guy come on for Sonny if Chandler really wanted to leave now now but he's signed for another year and a half... It just makes no sense to put Sonny on a lot when he hasn't even had been on any way. Many fans forgot who he was unless the plan is to kill him off and Will to feel lost and leaves town. Nothing would shock me :( .

The fact this show has been more willing to show more sexually laced dialogue between Will and EJ with a relationship that is going nowhere vs. showing a real and raw guy-guy romance since the gay scene began pretty much sums it up. It's so insulting. Fine if some people enjoy Will/EJ it but it's offensive they showed that sick shit and won't even show a true romance of two gay guys. Don't even get me started on the fact that Abby/Cameron are headed for their second kiss after only knowing each other a couple of months and Will and Sonny will probably never share a kiss after knowing each other for a year and counting...

The Will storyline is really the only thing that has kept me watching. I initially started following the show more closely when Matt Ashford was reported to be coming back. I was so excited! So I started watching and had also heard that they were making Will gay, so that also peaked my interest. Now that Matt is leaving (and really I haven't been too excited about his story lately anyway because he's NEVER on) the only thing I really watch for each day is Will and/or Sonny. If neither one is on I don't even really watch. Like some others here I am a straight female and I LOVE Will's storyline. The fact that Meng said those things just baffles me. Seriously...it's all I care about right now. I know not everyone likes the same thing, but this story is really very popular. If they backburn Will or his story I will not be watching as much I guess. Well, unless things get good elsewhere (but I doubt I'll be as excited to read the day ahead as I am now because of WilSon).

Also....just wanted to say I'm happy for everyone who wanted ED back. I did watch when she was on, but I was never a huge fan like a lot of you were...but I do think she will be good for the show. I too can't wait to see her in scenes with James Scott. Should be good. I kind of wonder what the dynamics will be between them. Will they hate each other from the very first scene?

IIRC, the day the news broke about the vets' firing was right around the time everyone was on set for Lexie's memorial service (or thereabouts). The news that MarDar were out was a few days (a week?) before that.

Such a shame we couldn't get Vivian & Kristen together during the same time again. I always loved their demented working relationship :)

I'm not sure what they would backburner. Will being gay is a minimal part of his story, overall. His main story is yelling about the evils of Sami, and doing his smirks and one-liners at EJ. They can still keep that going. I like Sonny, and I know some fans like Sonny/Will together, but these are both very undeveloped. If Will spent every day for the rest of CM's contract having "witty" lines with EJ, then most viewers would probably be happy, and the show could just ignore what they've already mostly ignored in the first place.

I wish Vivian were still around, as I would have liked seeing Vivian and Kristen together again.

I really wish I cared about Kristen. It would be fun to be excited like a lot of you are. :) I'm just not a fan of Reilly-style Days, and I fear a return of Kristen might lead to moving away from human, character driven stories and instead it being all about da plot with characters sort of acting willy nilly. However, I don't think the show is doing good character driven, human story now anyway. Days is insta love central, and even I think Reilly style shock tactics and camp beat that. I, as someone who loved EJ for a few months, am also wary of the fact that Kristen/Susan will be so much about EJ, because I am so over EJ.

I can't blame ED's return for MA's firing no matter how you slice it though. Even if they did decide they needed his paycheck for her (and I doubt that in the first place), it shouldn't have been his paycheck that was sacrificed while Shawn Christian remains. ED coming back and TPTB's seeming hatred for Ashford are separate entities. I don't agree that MA's firing was for creative reasons either though. Any competent writer should have seen mega story potential with Jack.

I just have no faith that Kristen's return will be great because there's such good story potential, when I don't think a character could come in with more story potential than Jack did this time, and the show still managed to squander it. And as for a great villain returning to shoot some life into the show, I adored Vivian, and look what Tomlin and Co. did with her. Also, ED is over fifty.

However, there are things that make me think ED's got some advantages to having a successful return. She's not youthful, but she is a villain, so they might not care about her being older as they would a romantic lead type (and she's certainly still gorgeous). She's not coming into any fanbase warring. In both of these areas, I think MA had more going against him. (Those idiots wouldn't just hose Dannifer so that a great JnJ story could be told. Morons.)

But, as has been said, even if the show sucks, those who love Kristen might enjoy it sucking more with her than without her. Let's just hope they don't pull a Jennifer and completely decimate the character, because that is worse than not having a favorite on the show at all. But I think being a villain makes for less chance of character decimation too.

Lastly, I'm so ticked at what the show did to Jack/JnJ, I kinda worry that ED might actually up the ratings (though I doubt anything can), and I want this show canceled, because I'm a bitter jerk like that.
