Really, I have no illusions that this run is going to be anywhere as good as her run in the 90's. Anyone who believes that is fooling themselves. I'm just happy she's back and I'm going to celebrate it until the writers undoubtedly screw it up with their incompetence.

I don't understand why Y&R writers weren't willing to negotiate and let her do both shows.. They haven't used the character of Ashley right in years. They could have put her on recurring or something, let her pop in from time to time like they do the character of Tracy.

And that's exactly how I feel. I'm going to try and enjoy it for what it's worth.

So much has changed since Kristen left. I wonder what she'll think about the current canvas. I recall Kristen being fond of Sami back in the 90s when Sami was a little schemer. What will Kristen think of Sami today with everything that's happened with EJ? Will Kristen interact with Brady, the little boy she helped raise? What will happen when Kristen and Jennifer are in a scene together? The would certainly be hard for the former BFFs to be in a scene together with no mention of Peter. (Sidenote: Scott Reeves needs to get over it!) And of course, who can't wait to see Kristen's first scene with Marlena? I can only imagine Kristen is going to have a field day taunting Marlena about being a serial killer and killing half the town, LOL.

I doubt anyone thinks Kristen is going to bring up the ratings. No character can do that anymore, it's all about the story. But what she can do is to inject some life into this show again because right now it's extremely dull.
I agree.

Kristen DiMera is just the shot in the arm that this boring ass show needs.

For everyone thinking ED/Kristen will be brought in to save DAYS is wrong. But bringing ED/Kristen to DAYS is just to make DOOL fans happy & I am one of them. We have been waiting for this for a long time & I believe DAYS/Sony finally listened to their fans! Yes, the writing might suck (we haven't anything yet) but I am just happy ED/Kristen is on my screen again!

I use to watch Y&R and every time I saw ED, I would think of Kristen not Ashley!

Greg Meng lisping/slurring his way through saying "traditional, midwestern values" was one of the most uninintionally ironic parts of that interview.
And the second ironic part was when he immediately followed that by saying his favorite storyline was the Marlena-is-possessed-by-the-devil storyline.

Forgive me if this has been already stated but I still have lots of pages to read.

Regarding the no to KL as Eric. In the case of JT as Roman and AB as Taylor, neither of their previous characters were on canvas when the actors were brought back to assume new roles. In this case, KL would be Eric with EM as Brady. We'd have two Brady's on screen at the same time.

Greg Meng is a puppet. He'll do whatever he's told to do and say whatever he's told to say. Notice Deidre led him in saying the possession story was her favorite. He probably just went with it because he's afraid of having a thought of his own.

Looks like this will be what prompts my annual "Watch DAYS Again for A Few Weeks!" lapse back into viewerhood.

If it's true I hope that the writers don't try to turn it into a John/Marlena/Kristen triangle. Hated John and Kristen as a couple back in 1996, hate even hints that it would happen again, would not be happy if the writers cause a rift with John and Marlena. It's bad enough that we rarely see them, and to add a third party in the mix would suck!

I do want John and Marlena to have lots of story, but would prefer fresh, new story rather then a rehashing of "The Secret Room".

John and Marlena happy together, working against a common enemy is what I'd like to see....And lots, and lots of J&M romance!

That ED is returning - it's good. Hopefully, she'll bring something to the table. I'm certain she'll not be left out of the loop; there'll be stories aplenty involving her. Personally, I'm most excited about seeing her portaying Kristen. I've always been unable to stomach the character Susan, her goofiness wasn't my cup of tea. And concerning GV - it remains to be seen whether he's going to be a good Eric or not. He's good-looking, no doubts about it, but that doesn't necessarily ensure a good chemistry with Ari. Gayless? It's a shame if CM gets backburned.

I just wonder how much longer the show will keep quiet about this. At some point someone's going to have to address the elephant in the room. People on Twitter are congratulating Eileen and welcoming her back to the show. They're tweeting the Days account acting like the news is already confirmed. With this many leaks, surely the show knows it's pointless to continue trying to keep it a secret.

And once again, and I cannot stress this enough, I am reminded of how shocking it is that in a country will millions upon millions of people that a show cannot find a handful of super-talented, serialized-story writers that are able to take the soap medium and kick some ass with it. People like Tomlin's and Corday's entire livelihoods revolve around these shows, and they can't find these people?

Some of the best stuff on network and cable TV is soapy and cliffhangery. It must simply be a matter of not caring, or wanting such control over a show to the point where they choke it of its potential because they just can't bear to let anyone who may have more talent than them step in a do what they couldn't.

You know what? I think I'm just going to take this attitude. If the show's going to suck, I'd rather it suck with my favorite character around and be happy for that much.

Now watch Tomlin make me eat my words in about six months.

Totally agree. At this point, I think they should chuck the headwriters out the door and turn the show over to fans for its last year. We surely couldn't do any worse than the idiots who are paid to do it.

As for the news, I'm holding off on premature celebration until we get official word, but I am excited by the prospect of ED's return!

Greg Vaughan is pretty, I may tune in to see what I think of him and his interaction with Nicole. I do think it's funny that KL tried to get the role - then original Bricole fans and Ericole fans could have been happy. ;)
