More than anything, I'm just excited to see Deidre and Eileen in scenes again. And of course Eileen and Joe. You can't fail with those three together. |

Yep. That's really how I feel about EVERYTHING on the show right now. I'm resigned to the fact that the show sucks and will continue to suck. And if I'm going to watch a sucky show, I'd rather it star the actors, characters and couples I like than those I don't care about. |

I would not mind seeing SMM actually...just as long as they dont go crazy again. I want Kristen 95% of the time, Susan for 3% and everyone else the other 2%. |

Eileen Davidson @eileen_davidson It's official. I've been let go from Y and R. Not really sure exactly why but in the big picture I guess it doesn't really matter! This tweet TOTALLY makes sense now...and makes me think Nelson is right about all the BTS stuff with Sony/Y&R/DAYS...of course she doesn't see to really be bothered by being let go from Y&R cause of the backup job of going to DAYS. While I try to avoid expectations about Kristen's return I've been thinking about the "gay-less" comment. If Massey is planning to leave and the show knows that, I can see them phasing Will out and isolating the character for a long time before that departure date. It seemed like they did that with Rachel Melvin, and with whatshername who plays Melanie. So a shift in Will's role wouldn't necessarily be about the gay thing. Just their thing of isolating the younger cast when they know an actor's gonna leave. |

Wow....this is as close to official as you get. It reminds me of when we found out J&M were returning from a Michael Logan interview. We won't get confirmation right away, so I think we should just forget that aspect till closer to the airdate....but it seems to be a deal set in stone. I never really thought I would write this...but Kristen returns to Days......My all time favorite villaness..... I wasn't thrilled about TomSell.....but this happened on their watch. They just earned points in my book. seriously. This is going to actually be fun to watch. It won't be near as good as the 90's, but it will atleast be enjoyable to see her back. Welcome back Eileen! You have been sorely needed for a very long time, and very missed! About the "gayless" thing...that worries me. It is the one thing this show has done right. CM is a goldmine. I will be very pissed if that is dropped, however....Kristen is back. It's hard for me to stay mad at anything right now. |

I'm curious to what her first scenes are going to be like. Since everyone in Salem thinks she's dead I would have her make a grand entrance at a party. I loved Tony's return 10 years ago at John and Marlena's party. And if Stefano is still dead during her arrival she should be the head of the DiMera family. |

If DR ever gets the chance to interview him, I hope they call him on this "traditional midwestern family values" BS. And a follow-up question should be "Have you been to the Midwest? Lately?" As for de-emphasizing the Will is gay storyline, he did basically preview that in his TV Guide interview. We also heard that the writers were generally shying away from so-called "issue" storylines, including PTSD. So, the two most generally popular storylines -- the ones that won them the most accolades, awards, and overall positive buzz -- are the ones they drop in favor of insta-pairings, bed hoppings, and superficial plot-driven fluff. Mkay. |

And that stuff with Sony and Y&R is probably why everyone stayed quiet about it. It's such an awkward, tension-filled situation that I think they wanted to get everyone on the same page. Maybe that made negotiations difficult too. Maybe Days had to throw more money at Eileen because she was only going to be working at Days. If she was doing both shows, Days may have gotten more of a bargain. That may also be why we had all the uncertainty surrounding all the comings and goings. Christie Clark and Matt Ashford may have been considered as possible comebacks but they needed more money for Eileen and both were already written out so they opted not to bring them back. Same goes for Peter Reckell. Maybe the show had to offer him less as a result of this and that is why he walked. Peter seems to be up for returning, even for cameos, so I wonder if maybe he understands that the show is doing this because they feel Eileen is more needed than him. I think the uniqueness of this situation is why everyone is quiet and still staying quiet about Eileen and everything going on at the show right now. As for whether Kristen can save the show, of course not. No one character can. However, she will inject much needed life into it and sometimes you need certain characters to tell the stories you feel can save the show. I think Sony and everyone involved thinks that is the case. They need her for a story they feel can help save the show so she can certainly be a big part in saving the show. I know many on this board hate Tomlin and Whitesell but I have faith in them. I enjoyed the show when they clearly had more influence in 2009 and Fall 2010. You could tell Higley still had pull but the show was better. I look forward to seeing them without Higley in the equation and, even if there is interference (like there always is), I think they can handle it better than MarDar can because they have experience and have dealt with it before. They both have been in the business for years. They are well-respected. They know what they are doing and Kristen is a character that they will enjoy writing for. They are campy writers and writers who like to write for families like the Dimera's and Kiriakis' so I think they will do good things with her. As for the Gay-less Days stuff, if that happens, I think that will tie in with Chandler leaving. We've seen Days do that before. The minute a young actor or actress makes his or her intentions known about leaving, they get backburnered. It happened to Darin Brooks, Rachel Melvin, Shelley Hennig, and Molly Burnett. If Chandler has told people he will be leaving, I think the show will backburner him and, as a result, Sonny as well. I don't think it has anything to do with the show wanting to get rid of the gay story. Tomlin first pitched the story, afterall. Chandler even mentioned how he knew they were going to make Will gay well before MarDar were hired and Higley and Tomlin were fired. The show has gotten so much praise and attention for it that there is no way they would get rid of it. Maybe not feature it as much? Perhaps. However, backburnering the characters, to me, will have more to do with Chandler leaving than anything else. |

The BTS stuff makes so much sense. First of all, it confirms that there's a pretty big divide between what NBC wants and what Sony wants. Sony has always seemed a lot more supportive of vets. For me, I think it's a good sign that they seem to have been the one to make this call, and it actually makes me a little hopeful. I have no interest in what NBC wants, but me and Sony could watch some Days of Our Lives together. |

Aw, PhoenixRising, you are always the voice of reason! I love your posts. I know that the return of Kristen will not catapult the show into the #1 position, but I don't even care at this point. I just want to see something different than musical beds and Kristen can provide that. She was an amazing character and if she's written even half as well as she was written in the 90s, she will be a breath of fresh air to a very stagnant show. I think you're right on the money with the Will story. If they know CM will be leaving at the end of his contract, they will use him less and not give him a front-burner story. he will be there but probably as a supporting player. That happens all the time. Even before it was confirmed MB was leaving, I knew she was because we hardly saw her and when we did, it was in the "friend" role to Abigail. |

I doubt ED coming to DAYS had anything to do with not hiring back CC or MA or PR. DAYS offloaded some money with SB, IB, MB, PM and RJ...ED could not have costed ALL of that, plus the amt of CC/MA/PR...sorry no way in hell am I buying dat bullshit. |

You also have to take into account anyone else they are thinking about adding and whether or not they want to keep a lower budget because of upcoming negotiations with NBC. It's not just as simple as some people were unloaded so you had money that would be used on them to use. I'm just saying they may have taken a little out of the offer they made to Peter and decided not to bring Matt or Christie back because that would be even more money on top of Eileen, Greg, and whoever else they may want back. Or, given there is a divide amongst NBC/Sony/Days/etc maybe Days had to make some compromises. Sony clearly wanted Eileen but, if NBC didn't, they may have had to make concessions such as not bringing back Christie or Matt and/or keeping on Peter. |
