I don't think Jack will die, just be presumed dead, right?
There's generally not much difference when it comes to Days.

Excellent interview. So nice getting some insight into what happened backstage. I'm glad he praised MR, I don't see her guilty of anything. She's an actress who wants to keep her job, she's not going to bash the show and she's going to support the storylines written for her character.

Also, nice to see more conformation that Eileen is back..I'm sure Matt Ashford will be back at sometime. They always bring him back..

Oh and Sarah Brown and Matt Ashford would have been dynamite. I'm so pissed that Days didn't pursue this. What a waste to bring an actress of her caliber on the show and not do her justice.

You've got that right! TIIC at Days could get Jodie Foster and Denzel Washington to join the cast and they would somehow find a way to waste them and/or write shit for them.

I remember they were on GH at the same time in the 90's but they didn't really interact too much. I think seeing them together on Days would've been interesting.

When I see the names Jack & Madison together it always reminds me of Jack & the fake Jennifer in 2005 (her name was Madison too) LOL. Last time Jack was with anyone other than Jennifer but even then it must've been written in his contract or something that he could only have love scenes with MR.

Love Matthew Ashford! He's such a class act. I rather have Jack back, than the ones they are bringing back.

I liked that he wished Dannifer would prevail, so Jack could persue other woman. An interesting thought that so many of us posters wanted it to happen.

I didn't get that from what he said. I got that he wished Jack hadn't hung around pussy whipped but had kept his eye on Jennifer.
AHM, I guess this statement from MA is a little open for interpretation. MA says, "I would have preferred if he had maybe accepted Jennifer at word and then said, ‘I’ll go look for my list of girls, too, and maybe start seeing some other people.’ Maybe pursue some other avenues all while keeping an eye on her."

IMO, if Jack accepted Jennifer at word, he would have accepted Dannifer and Dannifer would have been the rooting & winning couple, while Jack moving on with some other people will keeping his eye on her. (A totally believable SL from how it was being showcased on screen)
I think that would have done the opposite of make Dannifer the rooting couple. Dannifer would have been left without story to be the bore fest they are. If Jack had taken Jennifer at her word, the tension would have been between Jack and Jennifer.

If they do (gag) revisit Dannifer, Jack will still likely be what feeds their story, as he always was, even before he returned.
In the short term, Dannifer would have held their ground, popular with their fans, while most JnJ & MA fans would have rootedfor Jack and his new lady friend. The pairings would have needed to be an equally matched, each feeding off each other and yes the tension and opportunity for agnst would have probabally manifested amongst the two couples. Jen and Jack would have has to out play one another with their significant others being the third wheel, until Jennifer came to the realization that she wanted Jack back. Over enough time, this would have been the SL fans wanted to see. It would have left Daniel and Jack's new lady on the sidelines, while fans sat through another Jennifer/Emilio SL, this time where Jennifer is the one in denial.

Or pair them with Daniel or Rafe.

Matt Ashford is a class act! I loved the interview. I honestly hope they can bring back Jack soon. There are so many possibilities with that character. If the writers don't like Jack and Jennifer together anymore I would be in full support of seeing Jack with another love interest.

I don't understand how DR doesn't get more interviews. I guess its easier to open up once you're off the show, but it seems like a great platform to say how you really feel and know you're not going to get asked the same old questions. If I was an actor I feel like I would welcome that over doing the same interviews every week.

As long as Matt is fully employed and doing projects that are important to him, fans can be content with that.
Sadly, I guess it's inevitable that Jack will be presumed dead again, and Jennifer will then become a love interest for Daniel or somebody else - you can't blame MR for any of that, she's got to do what the writers put before her.

It's not MR i'm frustrated with, it's the people in charge. The fans have made it pretty darn clear that they want Jack back, with or without Jennifer but TPTB don't give a damn. I thought they wanted viewers. I would even be happy with MA having a recurring role where he came back for a decent storyline every six months. Easy enough since he has been a war correspondent. The storylines are wrapped up so quickly that he would only need to be back for a couple of weeks at a time. But instead we get another "presumed dead" scenario. I'm just so over it!! :soapbox:

I'm also over Jack's "deaths" and his so-called "abandonments." But I'm even more over Jackless Jennifer moving on to her next Generic Himbo at warp speed. Maybe Jack will be back when the dust eventually settles, but I hope it won't be to play the third wheel in another Jennifer-centric triangle. The show's gone to that well far too often.

If this were anybody but Tomlin, I might hope that the writers were sending Jack off for a short time to allow Jennifer to do what she should have done the last time her husband disappeared -- get busy trying to find him. It would allow us to see the Jennifer we used to know and love, and it would pave the way for a much better reunion story in a few months (maybe she'd track him down only to learn he's amnesiac as some have said they'd like to see).

However, Tomlin was part of the 2010 decision to bring Jennifer back without Jack and to have everyone in Salem trash him so Jennifer could move on and be paired with someone new. Tomlin was the one who told Matt there was no story for him on several occasions. And I'm pretty sure he was heavily involved in the decision to fire Matt this time around. So I have no hope. Thus, Himbo #47 it is.

^When MarDar were first fired, I thought we might get writers who'd see the potential with JnJ that MarDar were squandering, but then when I heard "Tomlin," I figured it was hopeless. Sure enough, a few days later, word was Matt Ashford had been fired. I wish Tomlin would do something like what you describe, in which case Jack going missing could turn out well, but Tomlin. . . :shame:

I feel the same way. It's not MR's fault, and I can't blame her for wanting to remain employed, but Jennifer staying for the next generic himbo not only makes me sick, it's also overplayed. If Daniel, that's just too awful, and based on what SC said to fans and based on MR's tweets, it does seem it will be him, and it does seem it will be at light speed---so lame; D/J were worse than a third rate pairing the first time. And now Dr. Love 'Em's added Nicole to his list of conquests. For them to stick him back with Jennifer, and probably try to use the Nicole thing as angst . . . ugh. What I want most is a Jack and Jennifer story, but if they have to get rid of one them, why not her for once? I'd be interested to see Jack deal with that, but they don't want to give Jack anything, even when good story is sitting right there, as it has been in spades for Jack and Jennifer this time, yet they wouldn't use it.
