No matter what insane direction MerDe were going, no matter what TW will do, Ejole are so good. I don't care if the details don't make sense (I don't ever expect them to get it right, anyway. "Twins" with different fathers, e.g.), I just like seeiing Nic and EJ together. Ejole Love!!!!! |

He really did do a wonderful job. I thought the whole tie thing was so a husband/wife thing too--especially when Lexie told him to make sure his tie was straight. It was nice to see-- heartbreaking but still nice. |

Yep, Nicole will finally want EJ back, right after he sleeps with Sami for the 1000 time! Don't bet on it! |

If EJ sticks his dick into that vast, flaccid, crusty, teeming hole again, he deserves every disease he gets and a trip to the looney bin. |

Absolutely. Having Abe run back into the house alone with it all quiet and talk to Lexie's picture was a very touching way to end it. JR really got me. I felt like he was almost talking to RJ throughout, and it would make sense if he was. Walking out and then turning off the lights showing a dark and quiet Carver household was a fantastic way to fade today's episode out. Well done. Edited by spartan, Jun 28 2012, 01:37 PM.

Today's show is quite possibly one of the BEST "everyday" episodes of this show that I've seen in EONS. It held my attention throughout the entire episode and I can't even remember tha last time THAT happened. I also saw a flow throughout the episode that I don't normally see and scenes/character groupings never felt annoyingly drawn out. Production wise, I can't stop raving on the lighting changes. Turning the lights off or down has really impacted the look of the sets. Everyone seems so much more rich and luxurious now. I know it's the same ol' cheap stuff, but the show as a whole LOOKS better and more dramatic. Also, I distinctly noticed a change in the amount of background music and its volume. In particular, there was one scene between Nicole/Rafe/Roman that was almost completely WITHOUT any kind of musical cues whatsoever until the very end. For so NOTORIOUS for over scoring a show to the point of where you can't hear the actors because of the bad background music, this is greatly appreciated. I can't say enough good things about Lacey Dyer's script today. It was chock full of accurate (and logical!) historical mentions from John mentioning the time he thought Marlena was dead when the twins were little (a definite reference to 1987) to Agent Spencer mentioning the "rumor" that Marlena put Stefano in a coma as well as the time she shot him and Roman jumping to her defense by citing the rumor as just a rumor and pointing out that Stefano had abducted THEIR children (he definitely said "their"). Everyone wants to make the point that the police are witch hunting EJ, but that's FAR from the case. Only Rafe is doing that and it is very explicitly pointed out by BOTH Agent Spencer & Roman that Rafe is only looking at EJ due to his own bias and is acted that way. Both Roman & Spencer agree that while EJ is a definite suspect, there is far more evidence to consider before than can declare his guilt. Even once Nicole brings the bullets, Rafe is quick to try to link EJ to the crime, but it's ROMAN who knocks him down actually using FACTS that we've seen given on the show about the case. I was really impressed by those scenes. While I do enjoy John & Marlena, I'm not one of those fans who wet themselves over the couple whenever they so much as sneeze in the other's direction. That said, I totally got them today. I didn't feel the least bit of cheese from them. I thought their scenes in the garden were subtly played and written from the point of view that they each know what Abe is going through because they've EACH thought they'd lost the other to death at least once in the past. It was a nice moment that I greatly appreciated and I wish this show had more moments like these between couples. I also like how it was mentioned that they were in the backyard and then when they came back into the house, they came IN from where the back yard would be. I appreciate little directoral things like that. IMO, James Reynolds is doing some of the best work of his career. When Abe said he didn't remember who he was without Lexie, it nearly broke me. And then the Lexie video (and his voice cracking). *sob* I also liked when Kayla showed up. I appreciate when characters just pop up in the middle of an episode. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I really liked the Brady/Ian scenes. There was a nice give and take between the characters. Brady continued to spiral out of control was nicely contrasted against Ian's cold collectedness. It would've been easy for Martsolf to go COMPLETELY OTT, but I thought he played it really well (I'm sure credit has to be given to today's director, Steven Williford who's been a godsend). I also thought the scenes managed to sustaint and hold the dramatic tension between the characters while also setting up future conflict. And even though their confrontation took the entire episode, it never felt drawn out to me because it wasn't featured in every single act! I thought each individual scene had its own dramatic build and didn't become repetative. And Ian looking at Brady and snarkily going "Are you high?" made me chuckle. And I can't rave enough about the EJ/Nicole scenes because I thought that they BOTH played some wonderful subtext. Yes, they had a tender moment thinking about the baby that they lost, but it was layered with SO MUCH suspicion that it never went to far into schmaltz. I thought the baby kicking & the reflections on the lost baby was genuine true emotion from both characters, but I thought both JS & AZ played everything else as if we weren't supposed to be sure whether they were being honest with one another or were actually PLAYING the other one (as we'd already seen Nicole do with her fainting fakeout). You could almost see Nicole think "Hmmm... is EJ being honest with me about his feelings or is he just trying to charm me so that I tell the truth about the baby so he can then take it from me?" while we, as viewers, watched Nicole going "Is she really acting honest about how she's feeling for EJ or is she just trying to fool him so he'll let his guard down and trust her enough so that she can find evidence on him." And you also have to remember that EJ has flat out threatened to take her baby. I'm sure part of Nicole's motivation in search for the evidence is that if she can prove he killed Stefano, she can keep him from taking her baby (because it's not like he's never taken a baby before). Personally, I think that while they're both trying to play the other for their own purposes, the feelings and emotions that they're each "putting on" to do that playing are very real and the "pretending" is allowing those feelings to come out. I thought JS & AZ gave some really nuanced and subtle performances today. Seriously, I can't rave enough about this episode. I loved everything about it. |

James Reynolds is an amazing actor (and from what I tell a really, fantastic guy in real life), and I'm glad his talent is finally being shown. Matt, I can't wait for J&M now! Because I know you're not hardcore, like me, so it makes me more excited to see it. Someone upload, quick!

I'm a little bit confused by today's episode. Nicole searched EJ's apartment and found the bullets, which she handed over to Rafe and Roman. Looks like she's scheming to take him down, right? But then she says she knows EJ, has lived with him, and he wouldn't leave bullets lying around and if he wants someone dead, he'd hire it out. So....is she trying to get him arrested for murder, or is she trying to protect him? Maybe I missed something here, but this scene confused me. |

I can't believe I'm crying watching this. I just read Matt's post and though I'm not through the episode yet, agree so far! Jim Reynolds, Deidre Hall and Drake Hogestyn are OUTSTANDING. They're coming across as old friends exactly in this situation; thankfully nothing has happened to Renee, but that's the emotion that's coming through, that something really happened to make them this distraught. What a powerful performance. |

The lighting is excellent too. As Matt said, it's like it all came together for one episode. As for J&M, this ep reminds me of, I think it was Caroline's funeral (or "funeral") in December 03 where J&M talked afterwards in the church. They're more emotional here, but that conversation also got to the core of their relationship. |

Also I really like the contrast between Stefano's death and the investigation and Lexie's death. They're being handled completely differently (of course) but it sets a theme to the episode, like one can leave an impression either way after he/she passes on. |

Ugh the Santeen music. I didn't like when they used it for J&M the first time, and I don't like it now. |

Should have ended the ep on Abe and Lexie's pic. But seriously, great episode. Josh Taylor was the weak link (as always). Can't he go to acting classes or something? Good "sweat makeup" or whatever on Eric, and though I don't care for that story, the scenes were done well. Also I like EJ's apartment set - it's very 'masculine' and fits the character well. Looking forward to tomorrow - when was the last time I thought that about Days lol? |

Oh poor Abe I just wanted to jump through the screen and give you a nice warm hug. James R did a great job today. I bet he is going to do anohter amazing job tomorrow too. Ah John and Marlena I loved their scenes in Lexie's lovely rose filled garden today. Drake and Deidre did an outstading job as well today. :wub2:  Lexie looked so beautiful in her video that she made for Abe. It was so touching and sad. Just when I though that this can't get any sadder it does. I know htat it is going to be devestating to see little Theo. Tomorrow I think I am going to need a box of tissue. :tears: Goodbye beautiful Lexie. :rip: :blowkiss: |
