Interviews with Days of our Lives stars Suzanne Rogers (Maggie), James Scott (EJ) and Molly Burnett (Melanie) from the red carpet at the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards Days of our Lives star Suzanne Rogers (Maggie Horton-Kiriakis) was thrilled about the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy awards, telling TVSource Magazine, "It is exciting that it is at the Beverly Hilton and that [Days] got 15 nominations and that HLN is putting it on." The actress herself is a Daytime Emmy award winner for Outstanding Supporting Actress (won in 1979). As she reflected on her Emmy win, she said, "It was exciting and thrilling. They can never take it away from you. It is something that you got that you can look at and be proud of yourself for." Rogers' on screen granddaughter Molly Burnett was nominated this year for Outstanding Younger Actress and the veteran couldn't resist gushing about her co-star, rooting for her to win. "Isn't that exciting? I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope," she told us beaming from ear to ear. On screen, Maggie's relationship to Victor has hit a rough patch. "We are going to play a little tennis match back and forth. He is used to getting his way and she's not going to just roll over," Rogers told us. Rogers says since the passing of Maggie's ex-husband Mickey, "Maggie has become strong willed and has had to stand up for herself. Victor doesn't like it sometimes but sometimes he loves it. His other wives wanted something from him, Maggie doesn't want anything from him. She is her own person and I think he likes that." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When we last spoke with James Scott (EJ) in November, the heavy topic of discussion was the writing changes taking place at DAYS. Guess some things never chance, considering that's exactly what is going on this time too. James echoed previous statements about maintaining a consistent character. "When the previous writers came on, they did make some changes – and as an actor you have to try and maintain the integrity of the character – they obviously were not as familiar with the show as someone like Gary Tomlin, who's coming back." So, does someone with experience have a better grasp on how to write for characters? Scott tells us, "As his scripts are coming through I am feeling myself regimenting a character that I played for a long time." On-screen, James' alter ego EJ has been mixing it up with his old flame Sami. We asked the actor if the future holds more in store for the popular and controversial duo, Scott teased, "I will tell you this; I am working a lot more with Alison Sweeney in the last few months than I have in the last few years." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Molly Burnett was nominated for the second time for Outstanding Younger Actress in a drama series for her role as Melanie Jonas. Burnett says co-star Chandler Massey (Will) called her the morning the nominations were announced and shared the good news of her (and his) nominations. The next thing she did after learning she was now a two-time nominee? "I called my dad and told him he better get his suit ready for the Emmys!" The actress was tight-lipped about what is coming up for her character in the near future, saying, "only a lot of kidnap talk, a lot of kidnap work. It is going to be awhile." Sadly she recently taped her final scenes, ending her four-year career on the soap. Burnett says leaving "was a hard decision." We wish her the best! http://tvsourcemagazine.com/interviews/television/2753-red-carpet-interviews-39th-annual-daytime-emmys-suzanne-rogers-james-scott-molly-burnett |

looks like Melanie might be kidnapped until the end of her tenure. That means more Andrew screentime so I'm down!
The polly is bubbling up but I'm so damn scared because of TomSell. :scared: Aww, hell. Why not? :chee: :cheer: I'm hoping for the best! Fingers crossed! Edited by JamaicanBeauty7, Jun 28 2012, 04:04 PM.

TFP. I've always enjoyed the onscreen dynamic between James and Alison, and I was bored silly with Safe and getting there with EJole, so this spoiler gives me hope that TomSell isn't resurrecting either. :cheer: |

As to the bold, is JS saying that he feel like TomSell is writing EJ the right way? I'm about as pessimistic as it comes in relation to Tomlin and Ejami, but his comments about working with AS so much give me a little bit of hope. |

I don't really understand where Scott is coming from because from my perspective EJ has never been consistent. There's never been a core identity there that a writer would be expected to pick up on, just a bunch of different threads that they pick and choose as the story requires (imho). So I'm not getting this whole "Tomlin knows the character better" thing. I also think that generally MarDar did well with having people in character. Their pacing just sucked, as did some of their major plot points. |

Is James trying to say that he's able to kind of pull in all of these different variations of EJ we've had since he came on in 2006 and kind of get a consistent flow going now? Maybe the scripts don't have EJ acting one way this week and then the next week have him completely contradicting himself the next by actions and/or words so he's got a better grip on all of it? I dunno but I think he's saying it's a good thing. He's able to pull all the versions together and feels he's got some sort of a cohesive feel now to the character? Atleast that's my semantics interpretation from his use of "regimenting". I know I can't get my hopes up that high when we're talking about character consistency and Tomlin, but if James wants to, more power to him. I'd love to be pleasantly surprised. Same with EJami. I can't get my hopes up yet for good EJami, but it does seem evident we are getting more EJami scenes. Whether that's good for EJami or bad for EJami remains to be seen. Or I guess we could ask Camila Banus. Edited by spartan, Jun 28 2012, 05:36 PM.

sheesh, I've learned to hate the word "brillant" because of JS. Love him to pieces but clearly there is a huge difference between what I consider brilliant and what he considers brilliant. :shame: |

TFP. I hope the EJ/Sami stuff is positive and that we'll get more Maggie in the coming months, too. Like JB, I'm glad to hear that the kidnapping won't be wrapped up soon. Maybe Andrew can frame Gabi, then he can stay and she can leave. Edited by six, Jun 28 2012, 07:40 PM.

Gee, James. Tell us something about the show prior to 2006. This pissed me off. They may not have known much about his character, but they know about the show. They're just bad writers. The other two annoy me, too, but just because I find them both useless. |

Well he did say they weren't AS familiar with the show as Gary Tomlin and I do agree with him on that. I think he did infer that they didn't really know much about the show at all and I would have to disagree with that. |

Based on his previous work, I don't find Tomlin to be particularly familiar with the show either. Tomlin wrote for Days for a year in the 80s and then was an EP for three years. Marlene was a writer for 8 years in the 90s and then for a yearish this past year. I'm not sure how long Darrell was with the show before. |

I had already figured out that it will be story with Ejami in the near future, I saw that they changed course in April and I'm pretty sure it's higher up who decided this, now remains to see how GT and CW will write EJami ? But my gut feeling says that this time it's for and not against them! |

You mean there was a show before James Scott? Surely you jest?! I doubt JS remembers much about the show three years ago and I guarantee he doesn't care enough to actually find out about the show's history. Why? He's never had a reason to do it and I doubt he feels compelled to know the show he's eating up. Edited by Aliaron, Jun 29 2012, 09:46 AM.

JS makes it sound like EJami is going to prevail..... wondering it they will get custody of Nicole's baby? Could you Sami playing Step mom to a little Ejolette? I already here the Ejole fans barking up a storm!!!! |

I don't know. I think AS/JS worked together quite a bit during Tomlin's previous time on the show and it wasn't positive interaction. I've got a scintilla of hope for Ejami getting the writing I want for them, but GT's love of SuperRafe and DamselSami make me pretty skeptical. |

Yeah, JS said back in the spring of 2010 that he was working a lot with Ali Sweeney....that turned out to be much about nothing and as in anything even if they do go there doesn't mean they will not go somewhere else in 3 months. This show's biggest problem is that they film so far ahead that if a story is failing with the audience they have no way of changing it....6 weeks is the max they should be ahead....that is about enough time to get audience feedback on a story and write it to continue or stop it and shift gears. |
