I agree with a lot of this. There are a lot of us out here, me included, that are really only watching anymore because of EJ. For me, he makes almost any storyline bearable. He is s good soap actor, he manages to play the badass with enough softness to make him empathetic and, let's face it, he is really easy on the eyes. But, there is the catch-22. Because so many fans love EJ, they stick him everywhere and then soon, no one matters anymore except for EJ. I want EJ on in a leading man role, but I also want to like and care about other characters and storylines that don't involve EJ and, right now, I really don't. |

I don't feel that way. I mean, I like EJ well enough, but I think he gets way too much airtime and story, and other actors are capable of acting too. They just aren't given much chance because the writers have tunnel vision where EJ is concerned. They write for James. They write for Shawn Christian (such as it is). They write some for Ari. They write for Ali. They have written for Molly. If your name isn't James, Shawn, Ari, or Ali, or Molly these days, you aren't gonna get much attention. That's not smart. Yes, it makes fans of those actors and their characters happy, but it annoys the fans of other characters who wait and wait and wait and wait to see their favorites and then have to listen to certain fans complain if their favorite isn't on for ONE day. I mean, honestly...EJ wasn't on today and some people complained. I found it a little strange. Try waiting as long as some of us wait and imagine how it would feel. Then imagine having it happen for years. |

I agree, Kriss. Some of us have been waiting years (yes, Kenny, I mean you!) I waited years for Steve and Kayla to come back, then they were given crap and written off, now at least Kayla is back and what are they doing? Trying her with Abe. No way will I accept Kayla with Abe. If they want Kayla in another relationship, the one I could accept would be Mike Horton if played by Michael T. Weiss. I have never thought that James Scott was the second coming and I am tired of EJ being connected to every story being aired at the present. There are a few others hogging air time too but unfortunately, I don't see that changing regardless of the writers. I continue to watch because a 45 year old habit is hard to break. |

Bring back Jack!

You should try being a Jack fan. Two lines last Friday and no sign for the next 2 weeks when he probably only has 3-4 weeks (excluding the Olympic break) or so left before his last appearance. Seems there will be zero build to whatever his exit is. Not even a few moments to remember before he's gone again. I too don't get the big deal with JS or EJ or why he needs to be in every.single.storyline. |

I am a fan of EJ and it annoys me. I don't understand why the show can't use James' popularity to keep viewers watching on any particular day, but then write good stories for other actors too, so that we get hooked on those stories and want to tune in on days when our favorite actor isn't on. |

Right. They're putting my Kayla with Abe. I love Kayla, and I like Abe. But I never figured on having them together, you know? Of course, Tomlin might not take them there...but then do I have to give up Kayla? I don't want to. I'd much rather Mike Horton come in for her...or someone entirely new. And how come I have to lose Jack? We're losing Jack AND Bo, and all within a pretty small period of time. It bothers me. |

Yeah it has been a while. At least there is a chance of future appearances though with JE being recurring (as rare as that may be). I'd swap another Jack dead/Jennifer moves on period for a recurring Jack. |

It's strange they are actually writing a story for her when she's still recurring - especially something like pairing her with Abe. Though that could change when GT/CW come in. And you know Kayla has been on more than Jack this year too (not that she shouldn't be on but it's ridiculous he's getting less story than recurring characters now when he only has weeks left). |

Yeah, and I love Adrienne too. I've been waiting for a scene between Adrienne and Kayla, or Adrienne and Jack. I mean, Kayla and Steve are getting a divorce, and Adrienne would have something to say about that. She adores Steve, and she would wonder if there was more going on than just Steve joining the ISA. Jack could have voiced some concern about that too, when Kayla revealed their troubles. I don't know that Kayla would do anything differently, but those of us who wonder if there's more to Steve's reasons would be heard. And if Adrienne did ask questions, that would be a good conflict for Adrienne and Kayla. What's the matter with reasonable conflict? But it'll be like the Jack/Jen thing, where Adrienne is either never there or would react in a way we longtime fans don't think she would. |

I don't think they're gonna go there with Abe and Kayla, actually. That was a MarDar idea, and I don't think Tomlin will necessarily want to do it. And really, I'm not in favor of Kayla and Abe as a romantic pairing. Friends, sure. But nothing more. However, I don't want to lose Kayla if Tomlin doesn't go there, and frankly, I think Tomlin may send her away. He seems to like to use Mary Beth, since he used her several times before while Kayla was jetting back and forth from Africa to deal with Stephanie and Caroline, but a romance? I don't know. Jen's going to be without Jack (Boo!), and Hope's going to be without Bo (Boo again!) so I think maybe Kayla's days are numbered. Or if she's kept, she's not going to have a romance for awhile because Tomlin's going to concentrate on Jen and Hope. Edited by Kriss4, Jul 5 2012, 06:37 PM.

^ I'm sure Adrienne will show up soon enough to badmouth her other brother and push her sister in law to dump him and move on immediately with someone so much better :sarcasm: . |

Which we know Adrienne would not do. She loves Steve and she loves Kayla too. She would be CONCERNED. She would try to talk Kayla into giving her marriage another shot. She would compare Kayla and Steve's troubles to Adrienne and Justin's...and Adrienne and Justin worked things out eventually. She would encourage Kayla not to give up just yet. That's what Adrienne would really do. |

^Yeah she would but that's not how she reacted to Jennifer and Jack's problems. She badmouthed her brother and took Jennifer's side whilst pushing her towards Daniel (even though she was still married). Still maybe the writing this time will have more respect for Steve & Kayla's history than they did for J&J's (and they aren't pushing Kayla towards one of their pet characters). |

I know. I know what she said to Jennifer about Daniel, and how she wasn't too supportive of Jack at that time. That's not true to who Adrienne is. Just like when Kayla found out Stephanie was hiding things from Nathan about Chloe's baby. Kayla didn't approve of all the secrets and Adrienne kind of made fun of her for it. Not something the Adrienne we know would do. She wouldn't condone lying, but she was all for it, and didn't seem to have any reservations about it. That's not who Adrienne is. |

This episode marked a changing of the guard unlike any other I have seen in recent memory. Abe and Cameron had a conversation and they spent most of their time talking about Abby. Kayla and Abby had a conversation and they spent most of their time talking about Cameron. The years of Abe and Kayla being major characters are long gone. That scene with Cameron, Abby, Ciara and Theo at HTS was almost mindblowing once I realized that Theo (Terrell Ransom, Jr.) was the most experienced actor in the scene. He's what 8 years old? Maybe 10? Given how swiftly Andrew progressed from fake stalker to kidnapper, can he continue on that rapid trajectory to serial killer and show his support of population control by taking out several residents of Salem? As long as his body count reaches double digits, I don't think I would care who he killed. Edited by LonePirate, Jul 5 2012, 06:51 PM.

I think it's good if Abby gets some focus. She's a longtime character and she's Jack and Jennifer's daughter. I just appreciated the fact that Kayla and Abby HAD a scene, and a real conversation. It's about time they did. Kayla is Abby's aunt. My only problem is that I don't know or care about Cameron. They're moving too fast there. |

It's awful how they're using vets to prop newbies. Abe and Kayla were all about Cam and Abby. Abby asks her Aunt Kayla about Steve, but do we hear more than two seconds of a reply? No! Then, bang, it's all about Cam and Abby for the REST of the episode. Horrible. But even worse is how they're using supercouples and long-term pairings to shore up insta-pairings. So Cam and Abby are now supposedly in the same leagues as the great love between Steve and Kayla or the long-term pairing of Abe and Lexie? Puh-lease! There is no comparison. At. All. They pulled something similar with Carrie trying to liken what she feels for Rafe to the story of Marlena and John. Or when they tried to make some kind of great love story of Madison and Brady. Now, they're attempting to convince us Daniel and Nicolu are in twu wuv, too. Infuriating! This show is skating around on the surface and is too lazy to actually build real relationships and real love stories. They just invoke great love stories of the past and say, yeah, this is just like that. It's an appalling case of exploiting their own past for future gain. And it ain't working. |
