Who says they are writing EJ as a hero?

And villains are allowed to have romance.
The hero role is someone who has all the odds against them but they have truth and right on their side and they will prevail and be cheered and his enemies will be defeated.

That's the role they've given EJ. Eve adding the few faithful, will and Sami, who will stand by his side like he's Robin Hood.

This is not about romance. This is about a storyline that has been given to a character who is not equipped for it just because they give nearly every storyline to this character.
But why do the writers favour this character?

You would think it would be in the interest of the show to spread the love around.

There has to be a reason for them to want to give nearly every storyline to this character.

Maybe its because this is the character that they see gets them the most positive feedback.
Where is all this positive feedback. The only measurement that counts is ratings and I've never ever seen EJ or any story he's fronted lead to anything positive in terms of ratings.

They write him as a victim which is just as bad to try and elicit sympathy for him.

Victor Newman proves you can write a villain as a lead consistantly with no need to portray him as poor poor weak Victor to gain sympathy. The audience loves him and still does. Granted the writing for him the past few years has suffered and its been tiring at times, but Victor Newman has never needed to be written as a victim to elicit sympathy. As a result we never see him weak or needy either. But he also has had a consistant love of his life which helps portray him more empathetically and not a viper like Sami is, a woman with a genuine and kind heart, Nikki.
With any luck maybe EJ will get his own "Nikki" and then concentrate on becoming a Victor Newman type villain rather than rearranging chairs on the titanic.
heehee, he did have his Nikki but he screwed that up too. :P so now we're left with Dikki. lol
Nicole is NOTHING like Nikki Newman. She's a viper same as Sami is

Idiot.... (EJ the character not you).

I think its time for EJ to settle down with one woman (Tony and Anna style), there can be momentary confusions and dalliances but really make it clear who the one he is going to be with. Then he can get down to business and concentrate on other types of villainry.

I don't mind it being Sami that he settles down with my only problem is I just don't see it lasting. It will be all on for three months and then it will be back on the merry merry merry go around.

I can see him settling down with Nicole, I can even see him settling down with Carrie, Hope is a bit of a stretch for me.

Just make the spinning stop.

but it doesn't....it gets them both positive and negative feedback and probably 50/50 if you ask me. He's too polarizing, he's not a character that people 'love to hate', like Stefano or Kate are..or even Kristen. He's a character that you either love to death or hate to death...or you like him with xx female only....

I don't know but there has to be some sort of reason for why they are doing it...

Maybe James gives the writing staff chocolate chip cookies each day.

I agree with you I think the show would be vastly improved if there were more compelling stories spread across all of the characters.
In each show there should be at least 2-3 storylines you are interested in not just the storyline of your favourite character.

I can't comment on the YR Nikki, but EJ has Salem's Nicki. She's smart, she didnt care about the schemes or lies as long as it wasnt in their relationship. She has helped him scheme before...but...noooooo...we had to go back to the Summer of suck '10 and all the shit that comes with it...fishing hat included. I just hope these spoilers get better soon.

This summer feels different. 2010 we had them being way too nice to each other and walking on eggshells. This time around it seems like both are not afraid to let their dark sides show along with their vulnerable sides. Huge upgrade, IMO, and I'm enjoying it.

Yes, I feel the same way this is not the summer of 2010 writing this time it's a whole different level. :P

Souds like ag great week of spoliers. Knew all along that it was Ian setting up EJ, but why.

Really interested in MOST of this. Don't want to see more of the Ejami rollercoaster though.

The smell of gas and tunnels lools like events leading up to the huge cliffhanger before the Olympic Break.

Word. Hearing D&D haven't taped much also leaves a lot of free time for me. Plus, EJ and Sami are already 90% of the show, so that's FF anyway.

These spoilers makes absolutely no sense...when and how did Nicole develop feelings for Rafe? And if they wanted to pair them then why the hell throw Daniel in the mix and have her pregnant with and still married to EJ. Like really none of this shit is even mildly believable, I mean my 3 yr old nephew can write better stories then this crap.

It's not just positive feedback that gets attention. Negative does as well. For both Sami and EJ, it's love or hate without much middle ground, and in all honesty people post on forums, twitter and Facebook just as much about stuff they hate as love. EJ generates buzz. So does Sami, when she's off pulling idiotic stunts.

I think a lot of people on sites like these think that they're representing the majority, but the simple truth is that Days has over 2 million viewers. I didn't even know sites like this existed until last year, I'm sure I'm not alone. And I don't post much, even though I'm a member, because my opinions seem to be unpopular, and negative votes would crush my poor little heart. :scared: Again, I'm probably not alone... That's why I say that people who post about their "boycott unless x gets more airtime" like they're hurting anyone, or who say "if b and c keep going with this story, Days is OVER!" either don't understand statistical sampling, or are fooling themselves. Unless you have a Nielsen box on your TV, your voice probably isn't getting heard. 5,000 households representing 99 million US households with TVs is a tiny sample. Now say there are only 100 people your gender, race, income and education level in the sample. What are the odds that the majority of them like the same pairings and storylines you do? In my experience, statistical sampling isn't as accurate as it's claimed to be- hence all the soaps being canceled last year and replaced with shit that's now tanking.

I'm not pretending to know what the Days writers think or who they write for, but as a writer in a different industry, I know that there are a lot of times that any attention is good attention. So watching Internet boards and seeing how many hits come up for each character's name seems like as good a way as any to plan out who to give the most screen time to.

/rant

As far as the spoilers, I'm glad they're revisiting Nicole having a crush on Rafe... Didn't expect Dan to be such a jealous douchebag, though. That's kind of funny.

Where is the recall election and the pissed off voters. This show just chewed up crap.
Yeah, that'll help our rating woes.

A recall election.
Its the perfect c story since they made such a big deal out of the election. Not every story an a story. Sometimes events happen around story lines to make them more realistic.
But wouldn't this scenario give him more screen time? #counterproductive

If Chelsea could come back from the swamp, EJ could have come out of Kristen's glittery hoo ha.
Kristen was like 3 months along, if even that. Billie was further along. She actually gave birth. Kristen's baby died in womb because of the tunnel collapsing.

Re: Susan/John - Then Stefano had to have inseminated Susan with John's sperm... which he got from where? You're saying he just stole John's sperm when he was under mind control incase someone, some day might need it?
Yea, it's not like he's harvested someones gametes for safe keeping before. *cough*Kaman*cough*
