The last thing they need to do is put Jennifer OR Brady in a relationship right now--together or otherwise. Both of these characters have been defined by their relationships for as long as I can remember and I think that both of these characters have suffered because of it.

Brady has been defined by a relationship since he's been on the show (we aren't counting the 4 or 5 years when he was a child, of course). Even when he was a brooding teenager, he spent much of his time brooding over Chloe. Then as an adult he became a brooding alcoholic who moped about Arianna, Nicole, and now Madison. He just needs to be alone so that they can focus on his character, rather than his relationships. I don't see EM lasting much longer on the show because they obviously don't know what to do with him when he's not in a relationship with someone.

I'm going to be completely honest and say that I don't remember a time when Jennifer wasn't hooking up with someone. By the time I was born, I think she was already married to Jack. Then there was that Peter BS, Patrick Lockhart, Colin Murphy, Frankie, Daniel......just let the woman be alone. Given recent events, her character could really benefit from reevaluation/resetting. I don't care for Jennifer with or without anyone because she's always been one half of a couple for me. She's dull.

I don't want MR to leave. Not because I want to see who they pair her with next but because if she goes there is no reason to bring Jack back. The show has effectively killed his interactions with other characters. If jennifer wasn't there who is there to welcome him back?

For me, with Jennifer, it's because I once liked Jennifer so much, and she's just been hammered into a nothing of a character. They did try to give her a non-romance story when she came back, with investigating the organ ring. Problem was, that whole thing was lame anyway. But I enjoyed it more than the subsequent "romance" for her. I want them to get rid of Jennifer so that I can hang on to what I used to love, and it just gets further and further away.

I think if Days has any hope of improving ratings, the show needs to be compelling on a daily basis. I look at the reboot, and they got ratings for a minute, but then the stories weren't told. It's not even that the stories weren't there (okay, some weren't even there or were boring), but mainly they just failed on the execution and the follow up miserably.

Here I see them going for another big event. But the event isn't really where it's at. The real drama is in the aftermath, and Days doesn't seem to get that. (Exhibit A: Sami shoots EJ)

Maybe ED's return will spike things. I see a lot of excitement here, but honestly, that surprises me.

Going back to jason's clues, the elevator set is interesting. I'm sure MA once likened his departure to a door closing behind him. I wonder if he is trapped in the elevator when there is an explosion or something like that.

^^
To be honest the best Jennifer has been since her return was some of her work with Carly and that was overshadowed because we knew she was hooking up with orange glow

And I agree that the story is in the aftermath. I'm enjoying B&B because I think they are maintaining some level of drama even after The wedding with the fallout to the events surrounding it. Frankly the aftermath to Stefano's murder has been terrible. We got a couple of episodes of followup before it zeroed in on Will and EJ and that's been a total snooze. And potentially throwing Ian in as the one who setup EJ is like who cares to me because there's been nothing established linking him to Stefsno or EJ.

I did hear somewhere (I am completely unable to substantiate this, so take it with a very large grain of salt) that Jack's exit involves elevator doors closing or something to that effect.

So maybe they survive the initial explosion but then get stuck in an elevator in a second wave. (Don't elevators have signs warning you not to use them in emergencies??)

Yes that was the original Jack exit info I got from a source of mine. That the elevator doors closed on him and that's the last we saw him. But she didn't have any specific details and also seemed to think that happened before any of the drama started (I guess that part was incorrect).

And we already know the chemistry is there with Reeves and Warlock Ashford. Now all we would need would be the story.
Fixed :D

That would be some bullshit. If you're gonna dump the character, at least do it well. Get your money's worth out of your Emmy-nominated actor, maybe go after future nominations for cast members who, y'know, still work for the show.

Crazy. Wonder if he'll wink as the doors close, if that's what happens.

OMG..if they were going to have Jack perish in the elevator...reminds me of LA Law and when they got rid of that bitchy lawyer...she stepped into an elevator shaft and POOF...gone!

You'd think but this is Days. He probably steps on the elevator and that's where the bomb is. Or he gets trapped on the elevator and the doors closing on him means he doesn't get off in time. I'm sure it's something that's going to be so he couldn't possibly survive (like the bomb exploding in the elevator just as the doors close). I thought MA said at the recent Days event that he has a more heroic exit. Maybe he sacrifices himself for someone else. Now some people may like that but anything that permanently kills Jack is not good in my book. I don't care who he's saving it's still an unnecessary exit.

Matt tweeted this on April 18th

Matthew Ashfordž@matthew_ashford

thank you all for so much wonderful support! I hope to repay youy with some well played scenes!

IIRC his thanks was referring to one of the twitterbombs and I'm hoping his "well played scenes" means that he's not just going to disappear after the elevator doors close.

Maybe Jack and Abby (because I think his heroism has to do with her) are in the elevator when the explosion occurs. The cables are ready to snap. He tells the rescuers to get her out first, then as theyre getting Jack out the cables snap and he dies.

^Or at least that we'll get something decent first.

It doesn't matter how soap characters die. They can always come back . . . if TPTB don't hate them.

^Maybe it could be like the scene where Hope was "killed" during the Cruise of Deception. He'll have a big dramatic goodbye with his loved ones before stepping on the death elevator. I'm just thinking worse case scenarios here. Perhaps they are trying to fake us out with this death stuff and he just leaves Salem with the elevator being his last scene (I realise that is not going to happen though).

I can't wait for this cliffhanger and the aftermath scenes to play out onscreen. I'm tired of feeling sick that they will show Jack's death as permanent. Yes I know, no death is permanent on soaps but I want his death to be more mysterious or simply that they don't find the body. It can be a "heroic" death but I don't want it to feel like the writers wanted us to believe that Jack really is dead this time.

Clue #8 looks like K____ Man, so I'm thinking Kate Mansi.

Clue #9...The -e name looks to me like there's an i before the e and so that would be Billie. I could be wrong, but it seems like that to me. The s name would almost have to be Lucas. And the longer name before John is probably Marlena.

The August peak is interesting. Is Nick going to still be in prison at this point?
