I'm pretty sure Matt's last airdate is the 14th -- the day after the show returns from the Olympics break. It's not clear whether he's on the 13th. It's possible the dates slipped somehow because of a pre-emptiion -- but back when he taped his last day, the 14th was said to be the last airdate.

The point about no lead-up is a valid one. Every one of the other fired vets is getting airtime this month except for Jack, especially Madison and Carrie. But Jack had a line or two at Lexie's funeral to prop up the story of Kayla dumping Steve and that's it. Nice, writers.

It's pretty clear that MarDar had already mapped out the cliffhanger as part of the lead-up to the Olympics, and TomSell just tacked on a scene or two to quickly get rid of Jack per their preference. They had no desire to do more than the bare minimum to get him out of the picture.

Unfortunately I think you are right. Plus, Tomlin has a history of giving shitty exits to vets so I doubt Jack will get anything better than what Tomlin gave John, Marlena, Steve, Kayla, etc. back in 2009.

Much prefers sweevil, snarky EJ over Father Figure Fucktard Eejiot.

I had some hope after the Atlanta event in April because MA mentioned that from 'what he'd seen' he thought they were giving Jack a heroic exit - but if it all happens in the space of an episode that just sucks. :(

Well if Jack is being killed off, I want him to go out by saving someones life, like Abby's or something...I don't know how I feel about him perhaps sacrificing himself to save Jennifer.....but if it were for Abby or anyone of (John/Marlena/Bo/Hope) then I would be ok with that.

I would rather Jack be dead than have him simply abandon Jennifer again, chasing a story.

I am not watching this show anymore. I read the spoilers and that is about it. I refuse to watch this vomit inducing crap with EJami. Love EJ, detest Sami. My only hope is that EJ is playing this bitch, making her fall for him and will then kick her ass to the curb. I just don't know why they veered from EJole again! If they aren't going to go the EJole route I'd rather see him with Hope, Kate, or heck, even Abby! Anyone but Sami!

I don't care who's life he saves I will never be OK with killing Jack - again! I realise an abandonment would be worse in some ways but I guess since they can't be bothered to write any build to Jack's leaving then death is the only way they can rush him out the door without any effort needed. IF they had cared enough to give Jack & Jennifer any story in the last few months then an amicable separation would have been my first choice (knowing Jack was out there somewhere maybe moving on and finding some happiness elsewhere is better than him being really dead). The fact they couldn't spare one episode for a wedding of some sort (even though there was no resolution in their relationship beyond the insta reunion) makes it harder that we don't even get a semi happy ending. He'll just be Jennifer's dead ex/fiance.

I really hope this cliffhanger isn't as big of an epic FAIL as the safehouse embarrassment in May. I still feel bad for the actors who had to be a part of that.

And you can bet that JJ will be too busy at boarding school to attend his funeral, if they even bother to have one.

Y'know...if they went for it full-force that way I might be able to twist some sick enjoyment from it. I like it intentionally over-the-top sometimes.

Why not have Jack die, relatives appear at a memorial via text, the funeral ends in a meaningful look between Jennifer and Daniel as he shows up to offer his condolences, clutching a letter Jack wrote in which he requests that Daniel care for Jennifer if something happens to him...? Just go there all the way.

I can't wait for Will is to drop the letter for Lucas to find. HAHAHA, that kid is so pathetic its not even funny. He really did learn from his mentor. How to be careless and leave things around for other people to find!

The one thing that bugs me is they don't reveal how they know for sure that Alice was right. Did she do a DNA test??

National Enquirer spoilers

Lucas confronts Sami about her always being with EJ
Melanie calls Chad to give him her location
Carrie and Rafe say their last words.
Roman makes plans to arrest EJ again.
Andrew prepares to reveal Gabi’s secret.
An eventful confrontation takes place between Victor, Maggie, Daniel and Nicole.

Shouldn't more information about the Olympic cliffhanger be leaking by now? Days was beating the drums 3 solid months before MarDar's material hit the airwaves, which might have been too soon, but it's been eerily quiet now for four months.

Do you mean so the writers could make it crystal clear the contempt in which they hold the character of Jack (and his fans)? Sure, why not.

The thing is, Reilly already did something similar back in 2005/2006. Granted, there wasn't much texting going on back then, but the rest of it... pretty much. JER had Jack sanction the pairing of Jennifer and Frankie ahead of time and push them together so that Frankie could "take care of Jennifer" when he was gone. Then, to really rub it in, JER had Jack show up in the bedroom where Jennifer and Frankie were about to do the deed (as a vision in Jennifer's head, but he was there and Matt had to play that scene) in order to encourage Jennifer to go for it with his blessing. That's pretty OTT, in-your-face, stick-it-to-the-fans, imo.

But yeah, it might be better for the writers to just pull the gloves off and not even bother to pretend that they'll write a touching, emotional story. They're just going through the motions and doing the bare minimum as it is.

I agree with the anti-EJami sentiment....my god that is played out and each time they hint of going back to it, both characters get more destroyed than the last time....and also much more annoying.

I don't care if EJole happens or whatever, I am a shipper of no relationship of Sami anymore or EJ....I am just BEYOND annoyed and completely uninterested with all the characters involved due to overexposure and dreadfully bad kindergarten writing that is attached to all of it.

Its truly insulting to read, let alone watch.

Sooner or later there had to be a confrontation about Ej. Its better its out of the way so Lumi can rescue Will before he ends up a Dimera pawn.

Sooner or later? When is Lucas not confrontational about EJ? It's all he does. Harp and rant and rave about EJ to Will, to Sami. Last week, the week before, today, next week, the week after. EJ-EJ-EJ.

Will's liking where he is, he doesn't need rescuing by anyone. He even said outloud he has more loyalty to EJ than his own mother. Lucas's actions will push him to that side with Sami and make Will have more loyalty to EJ than Lucas now too. Will and EJ is going to be here to stay with the media love they get and based on Chandler and James's recent comments doesn't sound like they're not together (in EJ-Will sense) anymore.
Lucas is the blame for this nonsensical writing? For Will's disloyalty? If he just accepted everything then none of this would be happening?

Ohkay...
If he reacted different then may be he can do good. What good is he going to do for his son when his son hates him?
He came to town announcing to Rafe his actions were pushing Sami to EJ, so Lucas decided to up and behave the same way with Will
and Sami too?

They are ways to support and behave even when you don't like the situation. Lucas's behavior i sjust going to make him lose everything and he will have nobody to blame but himself.

Isn't this right before Jack will be exiting the canvas yet we haven't seen one spoiler mentioning him. Ridiculous.
Matt Ashford's last air date is August 15, the same as Sarah Brown's.
Which is the 1st day back after the Olympic Break, which directly follows this week...so still pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
Isn't the 13th the first day back after the Olympics? Not that it's much better, but we could have 3 days surrounding Jack's exit rather than just one.

I swear if they focus more on Madison's exit than Jack's I'm going to cut a bitch.
....enter the Monkey's Paw.....
