That's what I keep asking. And that explains the ratings. |

Partly yes. And its a lot longer and three years of bad ratings. Good news is I've stop asking why they are letting the nuts run the asylum. I realized that's because the sane people left years ago. Ha! Edited by Aliaron, Jul 19 2012, 12:54 PM.

I love Freddie Smith as an actor and this scene annoys me greatly. What a waste of a great talent/actor ... he returns to a scene which is going through the garbage? I guess it is appropriate for the way his character has been treated on the show. |

EJami have spent more time apart than together the past three years - and the ratings have not reflected it much one way or the other. I agree the ratings have been shit for a long while - but I disagree that it can be blamed on which couples are being featured at any given time. It has much more to do with the overall writing and production values - if those are exciting and top quality it really wouldn't matter who is screwing who. |

It's astounding how boring this show is. I literally don't care about anything that's happening. At all. |

One would think but I doubt I'd watch Buffy screwing Giles I don't care how much of a BTVS fan I am and I don't care if it was written by Joss Whedon. Sometimes couples do matter. Ask B&B fans about Ridge and Bridget. ATWT fans about Holden and Carly. Or Meg and Paul. Ask OLTL fans about Todd and Marty. Sometimes people just don't want to see characters together. Even in the best of circustances. Certainly not in the worse, rewritten mess of circumstances. Edited by Aliaron, Jul 19 2012, 01:03 PM.

ITA. I also wonder if it's because people just don't watch that kind of tv much anymore, period. Reality TV seems to be ruling the roost on the regular channels and there's so much good stuff now on cable, there's just a helluva lot to choose from. Plus, throw in our iphones, ipads, facebook, twitter, etc., and I hardly watch any tv compared to what I used to watch. |

How long do you think the excitement of seeing Kristen will last for? Because we already know the story itself is going to be utter shit. |

Oh they missed a great stroy withi one. Would have LOVED to see Jarlena vs. Kian, but since Ian is leaving the rivalry will be very shortlived. Damn it saw so much more potential there. Still do not think that Ian deserves some of the Dimera pie just because his girlfriend is Stefano's presumed widow. Unless there is something more there that Ian is hiding like he too was a Dimera, but he is leaving so it is too late to go there before Ian B's exit from the show. BTW those yellow stockings totally messed up Kate's pretty outfit. |

Sure - there will always be people who don't want to see certain couples together. But it's a huge assumption to think there are enough of them overall to truly impact the ratings. It's like the tired argument over who's fan base is the biggest. No one can really say for certain. So who's to say that the ratings are a reflection of how many people dislike couple XYZ versus hate the ABC story that's being featured (but has nothing to do with that couple) at the same time. On any given day I may be tuning in to watch my favorites while someone else who could care less about them is watching to see Jarlena, or the teens, or Nicole or Lucas or anyone else. Who gets the credit for good ratings on those days? |

Yeah, I'm not trudging through 12 pages of gushing. You can obviously tell that there are rewrites going on. Little by little, stories, scenes, and episodes (heck, the entire show) have a completely different feel and flow. When Carrie said to Roman that "For a lot of reasons, we've decided to leave tomorrow" in my head I heard her finish with "The number one reason is that there was a change in head writers." And I have to REALLY hand it to Christie Clark. No matter what the scene, she ALWAYS gives it 100%. The story might be loaded with WTFery, but she never fails to put her all into it. I also really liked that good-bye moment between Roman & Carrie and I thought both Clark & Taylor played that nicely. The John/Marlena Ian/Kate showdown in HTS was nearly orgasmic for me because this sort of faceoff should've happened months ago. I also like how John & Marlena are dealing with Brady's story (more than Brady is at the moment on screen) which is another way I can tell that MarDar have left the building. They had everyone SO islanded into their own stories. I also liked the sideways reference to John & Kate's history. That said, DEAR GOD IN HEAVEN WHAT THE FUCK WAS KATE WEARING?! It didn't look that bad close up, but once she walked away?! Who in their right mind other than Helen Keller wear all of that brown with the NEON piss-green tights?! Jesus be a stylist. I do admit that I liked Kate's hair style today, but can the hairdressers PLEASE stop this obvious contest to see exactly how many different colors they can put into her hair? Right now, it looks calico with a bug chunk of blue mange. Dare I say it, but I actually liked the EJ/Sami scenes today. IMO, THIS is how they should be written and I thought they each played off of their *difficult* past (to say the least) well. My primary problem with the pairing has never been the chemistry (which, to be honest, is quite often not utilized appropriately, but was really focused on today), but the sheer amount of WTFery and violence drenching any potential pairing. Of course, it's never helped them that TPTB have never seemed to be able to make up their minds what the hell they want to do with them. I swear there's a giant "Wheel of Fanbases" in the writers room and the simply give it a spin every so often & where it lands is what direction they write the story. I do have to say that little speach by Sami about her and EJ's relationship was quite possibly the most accurate, most succinct description of the couple I've ever seen on screen. IMO, they need to copy that monologue and attach it to the official couple breakdown the writers use. David Levinson can be rather uneven as a writer, but I thought he hit a home run with today's episode. IMO, it's been the best of the week so far. |

Wow! Amazing episode! And I hadn't read the days ahead so it caught me off guard! Ejami was just... indescribably amazing! James Scott was stunning - he delivered his lines perfectly! I was glued to their scenes - practically holding my breath! John/Marlena/Kate scenes were great! I especially loved seeing Marlena voice such concern for Will and seeing John's protectiveness over Brady! Awesome that Kate seems to largely know who she's dealing with with Ian. Would have loved to see more Lucas/Kate interaction in the scene, too, though. I haven't been a fan of Cafe and their scenes are, in general, terribly boring to me, but Christie Clark did very well with her scenes today. |

Lucas stealing the letter is an obvious rewrite and they failed to fix the follow up. Marlena even said "you found it because it fell out of Will's backpack." At least she was voice of reason stating that Lucas should have talked to him first. |

You know, the way that Lucas hung his head when Marlena said that made me wonder if he told her that it fell out of Will's bag. I think she would have been pretty upset to know that he actually found it by snooping. |

Rather watch paint dry than EJami. Jarlena are really the only thing on the show I care about and there on what once or twice a week, three times if there really lucky,I guess the only good about Kritter's return is they might be on more. |

Promise not to overdo the gushing, but this is how I've wanted to see EJ and Sami written for many eons. EJ walking away after Sami finally gives in was the cherry on top, but loved the entire sundae. :cloud9: From admitting straight out how disastrous their history has been, how they always end up together when all the chips are down, Sami's talent for lying (especially to herself), and EJ's spin to catch Sami's arm as she heads out the door, this non-sex scene was steamier than all love scenes of the past few years of musical beds. Loving EJ having his mojo back, and Sami sneaking around, doing that which she was explicitly told not to. :chee: When Josh Taylor brings more to the scene than actor X, then actor X is in the wrong profession. I'll leave it there. To whoever said Christie always brings her "A" game, I agree, and while I'm going to miss her, I'm wondering why Ian (or Madison) are still in Salem. Are they ever going to exit? :shame: |
