of course James is a fan of Tomlin. It's under Tomlin that he gets to be on 90-95% of the episodes. As for Tomlin knowing characters well....ummm... riiiight.... that's why, under his direction, Bo became a hollow shell of man without a soul (pardon the Celine Dion lyric quote), Hope became a drug-induced anti-man mugger, Jack (off screen) was a complete loser that didn't give a crap about his family, the list goes on. I wouldn't be surprised if OOC Bo returns, & we know Jack is pretty much gone the min Tomlin officially takes over. NOT impressed at all. I don't see the ratings going up after the official take-over date, except maybe for the cliffhanger/post-cliffhanger since they're essential writing transition stunts.

Edited to add observation: no John, Marlena, Bo, Hope, Jen mention in that blurb & it doesn't seem like there will be reactions on the writing change from Drake, Dee, Peter, Kristian, or Missy in the actual article.
James has been in 95% of the shows for 6 years under various writing teams.

What a sad thing that DAYS cannot be original and keep Stefano, who's done in my opionion storyline wise, DEAD! Rest sounds good except I am worried about no mention of John, Marlena, Bo, Hope, Jennifer, Abe, Maggie & Victor, or Roman or Caroline. Sounds like possibly more of the same. Sarah Joy Brown(Madison), Christie Clark(Carrie) & Matt Ashford(Jack) should've NEVER been fired, Ian Buchanan(Ian) either for that matter. The money they're paying Joe Mascolo could've went to keep some of these, along with not bringing back Blake Berris(Nick), who was over-rated and fugly imho.
My guess for why none of those vets were mentioned is because they don't matter in Tomlin's world. Sami/EJ/Lucas/Rafe will get the A stories & be on 4-5 days/week & the vets will alternate & we'll see them once every few weeks. With the exception of Marlena who will give Will & Sami advice. & then when Kristen comes back John & Marlena will get some B story that will maybe get 2-3 days/week, but not consistently every week.
I have no doubt that the balance between the characters will go back to the way it was before Tomlin & Higley were fired a year ago. You can see it already come through in the rewrites.

Lucas getting get the A stories & be on 4-5 days
even as lucas fan i know it its very unlikely to happen

btw and what your definition to vet someone taht been over 15 years or someone that started from the 80

The new writers have no intention of dropping the gay storyline. Chandler Massey says Tomlin was the first person who came to him in February 2011 and said there were plans to make Will gay. Look for Will to get a possible love interest in the fall.

So I'm confused. No mention of Sonny. Does that mean Will is going to have someone else as a love interest? Or is Sonny just so non-existent on the show that they don't bother mentioning that he is the love interest?

Freddie has already confirmed he is on pretty much nonstop from end of Aug through at least October. And he already teased about a Wilson pairing saying he was dating a potential Emmy winner. I just think that might have been Chandler talking and he's tried not to give anything away.

So Tomsell wrote the cliffhanger? Sounds great. I'm a smidge hopeful they aren't going to break my neck on these changes in direction, especially ejami :) I'm not getting too excited b/c I don't trust Tomsell as far as I can throw them but who knows.
I don't know. TomSell seemed so in love with writing EJ as this evil manipulator of poor, little, innocent Sami and Rafe as her superhero. That's why I'm going to enjoy the hell out of the awesome Ejami scenes we are getting this week and next. I hope it lasts for longer, but I'm skeptical that it will.

It was the same amount under MarDar if not more. The actors contracts with their minimums have nothing to do with the writers, if IE he's got to be on 5 days a week in his contract, that's what they got to write.

I'm really excited for the cliffhanger, so it's good to know the new writing team penned it and that there's not going to be a drastic change once the break is over.

I'm guessing that the love interest will be Sonny, and it should probably be phased as "love story" - though you'd barely understand Sonny and Will as anything other than friends from today's episode. In any case, they are saying Will will get a love life. It's hard for me to believe they would cast someone else, since we have heard that Sonny isn't going anywhere. So, this is good news.

Also, SC's statement is obviously false if JM is returning.
Not when you consider that Stefano returning was supposed to be MarDar's plan all along, according to Toups.

i don't consider Sami (or anyone else in her age bracket) a vet. She's an overused character brought on by the fact that NBC is in love with Ali & will give her whatever her heart desires (which probably explains why Galen is still around). When's the last time Sami didn't have a story?

I really do hope we see some changes, but the current mess that is airing is unwatchable. I'm giving until September to see what happens, if Days blows it again I'll be gone for good.

It's nice to see a mention of Justin and Adrienne. Hope they finally start utilizing them and giving them more material to work with. :)

They don't HAVE to write anyone with a 4-5 epi/week guarantee into 4-5 episodes/week. The guarantees are a maximum, and actors used more than their yearly guarantee have to be paid extra. There are no minimums, however, signing an actor for a 3 epi/week guarantee & then using them twice a month would be a waste of money.

I consider her a vet, but she's never been a lead until she got TBL and NBC let her take over DAYS.

I absolutely agree that they give her what they want, which means Sami front and center...

this current mess is TomSell rewriting MarDar's script and setting up the cliffhanger.

I kind of figured there were some rewrites, but the overall outlines are still MarDar's. I'm giving until September to see changes. If not I'll be gone and I'm sure a lot more feel the same way.

I have no desire to continue to watch every character being thrown under the bus to pimp the Ej/Sami hour. :shame:
