Also, SC's statement is obviously false if JM is returning.
Joe never really left. He's still on contract. Just being paid to not work! Now there's a job I'd like to have.

Why can't the dead just stay dead on DOOL? So sick of the CONSTANT return from the dead storylines. DOOL has overused it so much, that it's lost all drama or surprise. There are absolutely NO consequences on this show. It's ridiculous. Nothing matters, because it will all be taken back the next day - history, death, love, hate, etc.
Meaningless = no stakes = no drama = dull, dull, dull.

I laughed hysterically at James Scott saying Tomlin: "knows the characters very well." And: "His understanding of the characters is comprehensive".
Is he serious??? This is the guy who led the show when just about every character on there was unrecognizable and written totally out of character, and he reveled in it.
With all due respect to James, Shawn & Casey, I won't believe a word until I see it on screen for myself (that's if I can even be bothered watching Toxic Tomlin Revisited). Actors pissing in the pocket of the new head writer is nothing new. They want a story and airtime not a pink slip. Period.

This is the same man that was rumored to be dancing down the halls when Tomlin and Higley were let go. IDK if that was just an outright lie, rumor, or what. Either way, Tomlin has had less experience on Days than Marlene and Darrell and he doesn't know the characters. This same man was in charge when JS rewrote one of his scenes. IDK if the actors are just being brown nosers, if they truly believe this crap, or if someone is telling them to say it, but I wish they'd stop getting the actors' opinions. We learned a long time ago that all of them are full of it. At least KA and LK's opinions seem to be missing, lol. I trust them the least, and I like both of them.

Well, actors generally try to hype writing. I hope I'm not mixing threads inappropriately here, but in his Diva of DOOL interview, MA talked about how it would be pointless for him to be on the show with writers who won't use him and then went off on Tomlin being the bomb and how if Tomlin did have something for Jack, it would surely be fabulous. I had to wonder at his Tomlin praise, but I suppose it's best not to burn bridges.

I had to wonder at his Tomlin praise, but I suppose it's best not to burn bridges. I know they do. And it's annoying. The worse was KA and LK making such a big deal about how awesome last summer was going to be...only to have the writers get fired and they both start implying how much their characters had been written OOC under Higley. Then they start praising the writing again. And we get Alamainia and....well...nothing for Kate really. It's fine if that's what they like. They're opinions may completely be legit, just different. But I now know that what they like is not something I'm interested in.

I've started to believe that if the actors are saying the writing is genius and wonderful and exciting, then it's usually the exact opposite. I'm sure the show's publicity team must tell the actors to talk up their stories on Twitter and in interviews, to get fans excited so they'll tune in. But now, it's like the boy who cried wolf. They've said it so many times, I just don't believe them anymore.

Glad to see the casting news confirmed, finally. As well as Tomlin/Whitesell being responsible for the cliffhanger. Cleared up that confusion for me.
The rest is a lot we already knew from previous interviews and such.

The scene where he was supposed to choke Nicole ?

Whatever the writing team come up with they sure as hell are going to need some new women of a certain age. Not only am I tired of the Sami/EJ show but at the moment they seem headed for a Sami/Lucas/EJ/Rafe SL and then we'll likely have Nicole/Daniel/Eric/Rafe/Brady/EJ. Seriously, that's supposed to be interesting? Not only is this a stretch having so few women of that age bracket versus men but considering how many times Nicole and Sami have been in 'love' I find it impossible to root for any of these, knowing that they'll simply switch to another pairing the moment one of these couplings is set. sami and ej or sami and lucas and suddenly she'll have feelings for the other...round and round we go. Hard to see how any writing team can resolve/end it.

The first script from the new writers (Gary Tomlin and Christopher Whitesell) airs July 24th. Christie Clark says she really liked the one script of theirs that she read. This "reboot" is much more low key than the last one. Shawn Christian says it's a seamless transition in that the new writers stay true to what's been created but they also take the story to some extraordinary places. James Scott is a fan of the new team. He feels that Gary Tomlin not only knows the characters very well, he has lots of experience writing and producing soap operas. His understanding of the characters is comprehensive. The new team wrote the July 27th cliffhanger. The show will be off the air for two weeks but when it returns on August 13th, "certain lives will be forever changed." Eileen Davidson's first airdate is October 11th. Blake Berris returns August 27th. Stefano will rise from the dead and Eric Brady will return to Salem in the fall with Greg Vaughan in the role. The new writers have no intention of dropping the gay storyline. Chandler Massey says Tomlin was the first person who came to him in February 2011 and said there were plans to make Will gay. Look for Will to get a possible love interest in the fall. Wally Kurth and Judi Evans have both been on set taping new episodes. Casey Deidrick is excited for everyone to see the new writers material. He says there are important and nice things coming up soon. Stay tuned! Pick up the new issue of Soap Opera Digest to read the full article. Courtesy of Rogue Ejami. This sounds exciting, and I'm glad some information is finally leaking out. There is a difference between low key and a silent as a tomb. :P TFP.

Excited for the return of the Phoenix! :D Will be nice to have Stefano, E.J., and Kristen on the canvas together. Now, if only they can redeem Chad, if they do indeed plan on keeping him. I always get so disappointed when Casey Deadweighteric has something to say. lol I could like the Chad character if he were played by someone who could actually act!
but yes...sooo stoked for the rise of the Phoenix. I love the idea of him and Kristen scheming again :-)

So by that logic everyone should just stay weak, I guess? The canvas is littered with Hortons and Bradys...they just don't have a threat. The show is a total clusterfuck right now. I have to wait and see how Tomlin sets the canvas up. I think bringing Nick back was a nice start. I want Shawn and Belle back. I want Philip back and Chelsea, SORAS Ciara. They have to work with what they were given and hopefully write off some of the randoms clogging the canvas. I would also enjoy a SORASed Theo with psychic abilities like his grandmother. I think that would rock.

Celeste isnt Celeste without Tanya Boyd... I totally agree!! Beverly Todd licks monkey nuts. But the character Celeste (who should always be played by TB) is psychic. I think Theo should be too.

Stefano is coming back? AGAIN??? ALREADY???? Gawd this show is so predictable and it highly sucks!!!
Not that I don't love Stefano, because I do, but I am tired of people never really dying! I'm kind of with you, but I also see Kristen coming back first, then secretly talking to someone for weeks until Nov sweeps when we see it's Stefano who she's talking to. Bringing him back should not be known until Nov sweeps. TPTB don't have years to make people tune in. They have only a few months before they need to decide whether to renew, right?

If EJ gives Sami an evil grin and drops her (ON PURPOSE!!) then I will know Tomsell is back. Gary likes his EJ evil and seeking revenge, Will is repsonsible for the entire town knowing the truth about him not being Stefano's boy. Ej told Will that if he shared that news with anyone he would get deadly revenge....and EJ did ask Will what he thought of his Mom, hmmmm. HA! Come on Tomsell--Let EJ have some fun--drop her drop her good!!! Lucas will be there to pick up the pieces!
Even though I would love it if he did, I don't think he will, simply because she is the mother of his children and not because of any great love he has for Samantha. He is fine with doing things like putting a stranger in her bed, and feel no way about the stranger having sex with her, and he is fine with pretending to be concerned and loving towards her over her child being kidnapped, even though he was the one that kidnapped her, but I don't think he wishes her dead. He would not deliberately drop her. I think he will unfortunately try his best to save her. If she falls, the show will probaby end with us not knowing whether she is dead or alive. I hope they are giving us way more than that with this cliffhanger to make the rest of us want to tune back in after the break, and not make it alll about Sami. It realy would be shocking if EJ deliberately droped her. I agree that it would be very shocking, especially with the build up they have been getting. But he's been trying to seduce her to only walk away when he knows he has her. They haven't really kissed or bumped uglies even though they could have gone there. I totally see TomSell changing their course with that one simple scene. It would be payback for her shooting him in the head, and converts EJ right back to villain status. It was done did with SAFE last November with deadbabysex, and it would quickly change the course of one of the storylines with months of follow up. Not sure it will happen, but I think it would be an awesome shocking twist if it does!

Hey, Tomlin!! I hate you and your buddy Whitesell. You can't write your way out of a paper bag and this show is doomed.
Thanks for nothing, shitbag.
No way am I giving this a chance.
