It's such a shame that Days seems to have completely forgotten how to do the big epic gala events. I think back to "The Cruise of Deception"; "Alamania 1.0"; "One Stormy Night" and "Night Sins" as classic examples. Those were big events that were showcased for several days and the tension and anxiety was amped up the entire time. I remember being on the edge of my seat for those storylines. Those were the gold standard in my book. Even "Maison Blanche" and "Melaswen" and "Greta's Coronation" (while not as good In my opinion as the 4 above) were even well done epic cliffhanger, nailbiter storylines and gala events. Even last Fall's reboot was done better in terms of pacing and spreading the storyline around. This was supposed to be the cliffhanger that brings people back wanting more after two weeks away. Sadly, it did the opposite for me. It made me totally pumped up for the Olympics and totally psyched for 2 weeks Days free. Hope TomSell have some real magic up their sleeves for Fall! |

Today was the first time in a long time, that I watched the entire show, without skipping it. Melanie, Andrew. Madison and Ian are the only people I think that did'nt survive. I thought that we as going to see Jack trying to save Abby in the elevator? I enjoyed all the scenes, Ejami was amazing as always. Abe speech in the beginning was heartbreaking, Theo stole the show. The explosion was greater than I anticipated. Overall great show all around. |

i thought it was beyond boring. The only parts I liked were Jack & Abby, Abe & Kayla dancing & Bope eating cake. There was no buildup for the ballroom at all. :shame: |

Even if I still shipped ejami I would be disappointed in this. The scene they had with ej walking away from the kiss was more exciting. Just felt like it was very poorly paced /written Edited by deletemyaccountplease, Jul 27 2012, 04:08 PM.

Pretty boring episode. The explosions were cool, and I enjoyed Kayla/Abe/Theo. Marlena's and John's scenes with Madison were cringe-worthy. |

The episode was a tad better then safe house but still a letdown because everything happened to fast. If they wanna know how to do cliffhangers they need to look at old reruns of Dynasty and Dallas, because this just left saying WTF. |

Well, I liked it. I thought the slow build of everything above ground vs below ground was very suspenseful. I rewatched the ending is slow motion about 40 times. The explosions were fantastic and I thought the acting was great. Everyone was FREAKED! From the exploding glass, falling chandelier, fires, Abby's look in the elevator, Marlena's duel with the dish, the tunnels caving in...WOWZA! I am wondering what happened to the water that was supposed to come gushing in, but maybe that got cut by TomSell. |

You can't sell a show with an exciting forty seconds now and then. This is TomSell, yes? I thought this needed build. Not that it matters all that much when most of the characters suck anyway. |

I seriously loved this episode. :X Not only could you see that they spent actual money on it but it just seemed a lot more fresh than anything from the past few months. I really enjoyed the whole hour. |

Trying not to fast-forward the talking parts, but it's hard. I did appreciate the scene with Hope and her giant gun. Shawn Christian is an awful actor. Just...awful. God, as this progresses he just gets worse. And Datillo...a little bit of inflection as you rapidly spit your lines might be nice. Hey, the actress playing Julie dialed it down today. Yay. Oh, let's pause in the tunnel and have a convo about how Melanie is one of my best friends. Poor Gabi- I hope it increases her psychotic-ness that nobody's having these moments worrying about her. OMG Sami touched EJ's shoulder reassuringly. Awww. Or something. I'm choosing to believe that when Roman mentioned bringing "that sonofabitch down" he was referencing Sami. I love the the actress who plays Abby. I'm really digging Melanie in this episode, too. Madison should have been Marlena's daughter. I hope she gets a scene with Brady before she dies, even though I'm not really invested in them. Don't warn him, cowboy. Just fucking shoot him. Jeez, when do they blow stuff up? Oh now- finally! That was well executed. The final shot of squealing Sami, though...that platform did not look that high. She'd break some stuff when she fell but would otherwise be OK. Overall- meh. I don't feel any kind of lure to watch again in a couple weeks. What's missing for me is...the emotional element. They were all kind of standing around waiting to be blown up, y'know? Also missing- a belief that anyone important is in real danger. So, I mean...what am I looking forward to? I don't think I get it. It just feels kind of incomplete. Y'know what part of it is- where were Marlena, John, Bo, Hope, Kate and so on? It feels like a lot of major players were left out in favor of showing Abby/elevator, Gabi/Chad/Andrew, and squealing Sami. So unless you're connected to those characters they showed...I don't feel like I know enough about what happened to them to be worried and therefore have an urge to tune in and find out, if that makes sense. I had to look at the explosion on YT because I didn't really have an idea and while the explosion were definitely good they should have ended the episode with everyone bloodied and bruised and left us wondering who died not that Sami crap, that's how you do a big cliffhanger. |

Guess my DVR won't be set to SoapNet. Sorry I missed the Sweeney convo earlier. But I do want to say that an actress's job is to..........act? |

I think Winston is a skeevy dirtbag who'd kill almost anyone to get either in Marlena's pants or to get a DiMera somehow... but he wouldn't shoot Sami. And Sami thinks her daddy walks on water, so chances are she knows that too. |

If they had a two-for-one coupon for "I Only Have Eyes For You" rights that was expiring soon, they could have thrown one of them to Carrie and Austin before they left. I thought everyone could have been more mournful about Lexie -- it's been about five minutes. (How has Theo managed to "come out of his shell" the last few months while his mother was dying, BTW?) Ironically the best moment was during the Kaybe dance, when Abe was looking at Lexie's picture. I feel the anvils there and yet it doesn't feel like they are pushing romance yet. Not enough build up for the event, but I guess at least they tried. Edited by granolagirl, Jul 27 2012, 07:57 PM.

Nobody's saying she should be criticized for being a woman who tries to do everything while she can. I don't have to respect her, or any other woman or man who does if I don't think any of the things they're doing is worth my own time watching. She can do whatever she wants, she and I are obviously very different, but her gender has not even one itty bitty strain of iota to do with it. I don't admire men who do too much either. Why do we need to do everything? I admire anyone, man, woman or child of either sex, who finds something they truly excel at, and bring that gift to the world in one way or another. Whether it be performing (voice/acting/dance), some sports, research, politics or anthropology. If you do what makes you happy, making other people happy in the process... that, to me, is maximizing what you've got. Trying to do everything is not. Ryan Seacrest annoys the crap outta me, so does Donald Trump, Simon Cowell (he I find it more annoying that her gender has to have anything to do with it at all. If she was building houses for the homeless or working for charity, then that's a whole other thing... but she's chasing media exposure relentlessly and IMO, she doesn't have the talent to support the attention she's seeking. People can try their hand at whatever they want, but I wish they'd be realistic about what they bring to the table. (And she's jogging that marathon because the woman who was supposed to was hit by a lighting pole on a set, hit her head on the ground, had a seizure and is currently still recovering. So I do give her creds for stepping in on very short notice for the star who was supposed to do it (who is actually a bonafied star IMO, that's talking maximizing on the gift you've got).) |
