I loved the explosion -- the show kicked it up a few notches in the special effects dept. :cheer: Looking forward to the fallout. Glad both of my soaps are trying to get back on track.

On a non-EJ and Sami note, because I did watch the other half hour, I kind of like ABe and Kayla together, and I think Lexie would aprove if they went about it slowly. Could be interesting to have an interacial stroyline.
Abby/Cameron really are that forgettable aren't they? ;)

Anyway, I kind of like them too. It's more than a bit surprising.

I started watching Days after I saw David Banning and Val (I don't remember her last name) in a scene together. I was happily shocked to see an interracial couple on a soap opera and thought, "This show is for me!" I was disappointed that they really followed through on that -- I'm figuring due to the controversy. I seem to love controversial couples. LOL

Fast forward to 2012 -- the most controversial thing about Abby and Cameron isn't their race, it's that they are kind of dull LOL. They do have nice chemistry however.

I think it is way too soon to think about pairing up Abe with anyone. He just lost his wife. He will need time to grieve. Kayla would be a good match later down the road, but not this soon.

BTW, cliff hangars drive me crazy. Back when Star Trek Voyager was on...I was always trying to get the scoop of what was going to happen. I am scouring the net looking for clues about who buys the dirt farm after the explosions. So far not a lot of Luck.

Did I watch something else? What I saw when I watch the episode(6 times so far) was Sami stepping in front of EJ , shielding him from her Cray Cray father. He was trying to push her behind him. Whatevs, I guess we see what we want to see.

When Roman tells EJ not to move or he will shoot, so Sami steps in front of him and whispers for him to run. Sounds like true love to me, can't think of any other reason Sami would want to save him, even if her gut knows that he didn't kill Stefano. I guess she has her selfish reasons why she doesn't want him to go to jail. I can't think that she is worried about his kids being without him, more than her losing out on running CW. EJ caring enough to try and save EJ, really puts meaning to their relation/friendship. I am interested to see if Sami is left unscathed and go on the run together. Like Ejami originally, not fond of the last few years, but like TPTB restarting them, back to have close apartments together and eventually being there for one another. Like that they didn't have sex, don't mind the sexual tension, as a soap should be.

When i watched the scene, I distinctly saw EJ's hands on Sami pulling her in front of him.
DAMN! Thought noone else saw that. Myself, my twin sister and my neice all watched it together. Six good working eyes and that it what we all said that is what it looked like to us all too.
Ooh maybe I will rewatch the episode cuz I missed it. Love me some selfish, bastard EJ.

Thanks for posting the summaries. Someone also helpfully broke down the timings of the episode, noting that 2 characters ONLY shared 5-6 minutes or roughly 25 percent of the show. Another way to look at it is that almost 30 characters (plus extras) had to share 12 mins of the show and were used mostly as background in large crowd scenes. Since the Daniel/Nicole elevator exchanges were included in that tally, the crowd scenes -- and the bulk of the Days cast -- were squeezed into an even tighter time slot.

After reading 30 pages of comments, I only have two to add:

-- I would think that being considered the "face" of a soap that has been fighting for last place in the key demographics among a dwindling list of shows for the last few years would be a dubious honor for any actor.

-- As for being the "lifeblood" of the show... sometimes, the only way to save the patient is to consider a massive transfusion. I was one of those who thought the reboot would be that kind of major transformation. It wasn't. And the patient has quickly gone back to being in its same tired and terminal condition.

Kudos to the technical team for the stunts and effects. But the writing for what should have been a riveting cliffhanger was lacklustre, favoring flash over substance or any semblance of real emotion. It doesn't seem like either the old writing team (MarDar) or the new/old (TomSell) went out of their way to write an episode that raised any stakes or created any lasting circumstances (that didn't serve their own plot-driven purposes). I still can't decide whether TPTB are just lazy and incompetent or whether they're intentionally trying to drive the show into the ground. Either way, they've succeeded in making me not care about the fate of a show that's been a part of my life for a long, long time.

:shame:

OMG< I didn't watch the cliffhanger and didn't intend to but I had to check this out, because the spoiler clearly said Sami puts herself in the line of fire in so many words. Sami just stood by him and he actually yanked her arm and placed her in front of him and actually held her there and then kind of cowered behind her. How friggen funny. This reminds me of the supposed "shirtless EJ" scene and the "almost kiss" that was also spoiled and didn't happen that way. I see that the tweeks are still coming. I love how you can't always trust spoilers. If that was Nicole, he would have put Nicole behind him in an instant.
You watched a totally different show than I did. But that happens a lot and I guess it keeps discussion interesting.

________

I agree, its a problem caused by one take.

It's perfectly clear because of what every official sourcee says, Sami put herself there. EJ wanted her to stay down. She stood up. Then he tried to hold her back with an arm and she kept getting closer. His arm is up to hold her back, not yank her forward.

This is where the actors screwed up a little by making the rest look awkward. Ali went to move in front of James and he wrapped his arms around her and they sruggled a little. It looked like James was trying to make sure Ali didn't fall over the edge while they struggled. As soon as she's on both feet and stable he lets go of her and is not touching her any more.

Sami looks determined and tells EJ to run.

Awkwardly played, yes. In the context of the story and the entire rest of the scene, as well as what all the sources say, EJ did not pull her in front of him. Those odd three second of James with his arms aromd Ali trying to jeep her away from the edge, at the same time as trime as tying to show EJ pulling Sami back and trying to move her away don't override the mountains of evidence that Sami used herself as a shield, not EJ.

I'm hoping they have one of those redo scenes they often start the show with and it's not so awkwardly done. If not, the fact that none of the actors or characters will have perceived it that way, and it's not what the show says happened will be proof enough. If Lucas saw EJ pull Sami in front of him. I'm sure he'll be ranting about it plenty. Yelling about how EJ pulled Sami into the line if fire, because there is no way Lucas would let that go and not mention it.

Imo, That EJ pulled her in front of him is as likely as the Jedi spec, when you look at note than those two seconds.
I saw it exactly as you did but thanks for the details.

I'm actually flummoxed that people pick apart a 1 minute scene at 15 sec increments on pause ffwd to isolate a placement of a hand :tumbleweed:

Okay, I'm a sporadic watcher so this may have been convered, but why was Brady planning a wedding when his best bud Melanie was missing? Did he just find out?
I had this same thought on Friday. Dude. If you're planning a wedding? Don't go hunting down in the tunnels.......be with John and start getting ready. I understand that he's BFF with Melanie but he's getting married to Madison. Which takes priority?

Brady left Madison on his wedding day to go looking for Melanie. It's been forever since they shared scenes showcasing how close they were. She dies and within a month or so he either moves on with Jennifer or her daughter? What a cad! He has shown no constancy with his women, first Chloe, then Nicole, then Arianna and now Madison? And I love Brady Black.

I'm so curious about how things will pick up after the break, especially for Ejami, Roman, and Lucas since the full scene set forth in Jason's script didn't play out yet. Will there still be a second explosion where EJ loses his grip? Are Lucas and Roman going to be unconscious? I don't think Sami would leave her dad and Lucas unconscious to take off with EJ. What will Lucas' reaction be to Sami helping EJ escape?

Come on Ron, We are counting on YOU !!

I saw the show and Lysie will be happy as there is a Kate and Lucas scene.....lol....IMHO THOSE were the highlight of the show for me, I can never get enough of Kate and Lucas...give me more of that and I'll be really, really happy....that and surprisingly the Melanie tunnel stuff...I thought those scenes were very, very well done. Believable in all aspects, from the staging and the dark lighting to the suspense of it all. Those worked. Kate not mentioning Cassie and Rex....I guess another hint that we will NEVER see those two again....now can they please cast Alexis Thorpe as a love interest for BD's Lucas.... please, lol.

Anyway.....WTF was up with Ali's timing....it does look like she was suppose to jump up in front of EJ when Roman kept threatening Ej with the gun....but she didn't....to me it seems like SHE missed the mark. Since the scenes before and after hinted that she wanted him to run, and spoilers called for her 'jumping' in front of him when Roman pulled out his gun, that is clearly not the way it played out so much.... To me what was suppose to happen is once Roman kept threatening Ej with the gun, Sami stood up as she did, Ej put his hand out to stop her from moving in front of him, but Sami SHOULD have slapped his hand away or shoved it away to 'jump' in front of him...that is not what happened. Instead, it looks like he grabs her and shoves her in front of him....lol.....bad, bad scene...

Overall, very underwhelming episode...the explosions happened way too fast and the entire episode seemed like a rushed attempt to get something up for the Friday before the Olympics hiatus...that is exactly what it amounts to.

His actions fit with something Chloe said. Paraphrased, that Brady is a fixer and a rescuer. Once things are going fine he begins to lose interest. The show probably hasn't kept that line in mind, but Brady does seem to chase women who have a problem that needs solving.

It is really strange that the Melanie story has been so isolated though. Brady and Maggie should have had larger roles in it.

I think Life/Death trumped a wedding; cannot say I blame Brady for this one.

after the poorly done scene you could not tell if ej was trying to use sami as human shield or sami using herself as shield to ej

was i the only thought the cops had clear to shot ej and ej could not really run since he will stay away from sami which can not loger be use as shield and it be easier to cops to shot
i know they probaly want to put both ej and sami on the frame i think the problem because after that its not believable sami as shield since the cops had clear shot to shot ej without harimg sami

blah to abe and kayla since lexie dead body was not even got cold

blah for little use for jack when he have not lot scenes
the Andrew story was okay but mostly because of andrew

blah for dicole

blah for pimping ej as the poor victim

so the show remember jarlena are not married

i wonder if the show remember that bo and hope are not married either

with autism mention i could not help think what BD thought how the show dealt with autism storyline since he has autistic son
