I really get a feeling that Days might be doing a rape storyline with Nick - Blake Berris's latest tweets to fans sounds that way anyway. Will the writing for it suck? Most likely, since it's at the hand of Tomlin. But at least Blake is a good actor, if anyone would do a good job with that story, it's him!
If they go with a Nick was raped in prison storyline is this show going to say how horrible it is for a man to be raped by another man, but if a man rapes a woman on this show, she should be dating and parenting kids with him?
Um...I think that's my favorite point ever made on this board. Maybe the internet more generally.
My thing about a possible prison rape is that I don't know what a man getting assaulted has to do with beliefs about homosexuality, unless he was raped by a gay man, maybe. But I'm sure a show like Days will be real clear in dealing with all of the possible complexity...
If Nick was assualted in prison by a heterosexual man, wouldn't that help explain why he views homosexuality as a choice? The person who assaulted him apparently chose to engage in that behavior. And yes, we all know that rape is about power, not sex. But I think basic human nature makes it harder for victims to truly make that distinction.
I don't know where this is going or how well or poorly it will be handled. But there is a whole lot of room for some nuance and I have faith that Blake that bring that out if the writing allows him to.
I remember years ago on one of the talk shows, there was this white woman who had been raped by a white man and from then on she was scared to death to be around white men. She would only date black men and eventually married a black man.
Quite long interview with Ari, Drake & Galen - annoying interviewer, but some really nice stuff too. They also talk about the taping schedule - They tape 7 and a half shows a week and film 120 pages per day!!
Well it looks like SA does a better job intergrating their shows than the United States.
B.B. tweeted the other week that his big storyline comes to its climax in January, the same day as the supposed Nabi or Wabi wedding. The same day he and KA tweeted messages praising each other's work so I'm guessing that somehow Hope helps him through the aftermath of his rape. What I can't figure out is how the wedding figures into the climax of the storyline. Any ideas? I haven't been interested in the show since the Daysaster but I've got to admit this has me intrigued.
Btw,.. so mad that they messed up this wonderful character. He should be up to no good and be the fun character he used to be. His humor is one of the reason I loved this character so much. And one of the reasons I like EJ so much.

The execs at NBC are completely clueless or just plain don't care for real talent.

Many have speculated that once Gabi finds out she's pregnant, Nick will ask her to marry him. The climax of the story would presumably occur at the wedding when it is revealed that the baby is not really Nick's, but Will's.
I'm honestly not convinced that this part of the story has anything to do with rape, or that Nick was raped at all.

Given all the buzz around the taping of those episodes I'm hoping there's a lot more to it than just a WTD. SSH said there were lots of twists and turns and KA and BB both said it was very exciting. Oh well, thanks to the last few months, I'm getting used to being disappointed.
I know I really shouldn't go there but I just notices Melissa Revves is following Chick-Fil-A on twitter. I really don't know whether to laugh or cry.

I will be utterly gobsmacked if there is actually any depth to Nick's inexplicable religion-based homophobia. I think it is all wishful thinking combined with an attempt at salvaging his character and story that has BB implying that Nick might have been raped in prison. Not only are Tomsell incapable of telling a compelling controversial story like that, addressing such a taboo and sensitive subject, but they are complete cowards and will always choose the laziest explanation for any old ooc behavior.

the only minus side about this story is that Gabi would be smack dab in the middle of it. and just like with Tomlin's other pets, Rafe & Daniel, Gabi would be painted as the saint that saves Nick and helps him get through all of this. Because heaven forbid anyone in his family had ever been to prison & been beaten while there (ehem - Hope), or that a very close friend be a psychiatrist (ehem - Marlena). I was gonna add that we've even got Sami who's been raped, but TPTB love to forget this minor point in favor of furthering EJami. Though it would be an interesting dynamic to have Sami help someone who's gone through a somewhat similar experience, even though he's not comfortable with her son's sexuality.
That is true about Sami, although I don't really have the urge to see her involved in another storyline. Lol.
In addition to those you've mentioned, even Nicole to a certain extent could maybe be a help to Nick. And for once, maybe her ''porn'' past wouldn't be used as a joke. It was a solemn time that left her victimized - I wouldn't mind the opportunity for the show to look at it in a serious light instead of it just something people carelessly use to make fun of her.
Speaking of characters with similar histories, I would have loved for Hope to have been that person to get Nicole through the loss of her child. Hope has lost three children and is still struggling with the loss of Zack. She could have provided some encouragement and comfort but seeing that it is her cousin Jennifer who is the "victim" in this SL, I know that my wishful thinking will never materialize. *sigh*
