Thursday, December 27th New Day in Salem Sami in the square sees rafe runs up to him and asks him can you explain to me your disappearing act dan on the phone with jen they have a lunch date he says he will pick her up in a bit Jennifer is at home abi says she looks great Nicole in the church sees an envelope she opens it its a picture and she looks at it eric comes in and says i took that my first morning in Africa she says its beautiful he says its yours , its my way of thanking you for helping me by talking out my feelings thanks to i feel like im turning a new page , i owe you she says all i did was listen he says you did a lot more than that i dont know if the photo is enough nicole says if you mean that there is something else i would like from you and it would mean the word to me. Ej comes out out the pub runs into chad chad says are you looking for someone? EJ says yeah, Samantha chad says you try calling her? ej says no its fine i will track her down x-mas will come a little bit late for me this year but its coming though rafe says disappearing act? Sami says i saw you for 7 seconds during the holidays and it seemed like you were you making your self scarce on purpose and i would like to know why Nicole says sometimes the best gifts arent from the store and this one would be from the heart would you be my date for new years eve? Rafe says you are exaggerating it was the holidays i was busy spending time with gabi and nick and i called my mother she says i saw you at st. lukes i went to say hi afterwards and you were gone he says it was 1 am i was tired she says ok, then x-mas day, you should have seen the look on Sydneys face when she opened the penguin, she was thrilled seems out of character that you wouldnt want to be there for that why not ?i think i deserve an answer he says ok you want an answer be careful for what you wish for because you might not like it Hope comes to jens says Bo decided to spend some more time with the kids abi says she has to get going Hope says are you seeing dan today is that why you are looking especially gorgeous jen says its just lunch Hope says how are things going jen says its good taking it one step at a time Hope says that makes sense jen says we are keeping it low key not doing anything for new years because he is at the hospital its been awhile since dan and i and a lot has happened in that time what if we had our chance and that was it what if there is no getting back what we had dan is on the phone at the hospital he looks up something in a date book from 2 years ago for melanie , he will mail it to her tomorrow he looks in it and gives her a number he says he just got paged he has to go maggie comes in and says why did you tell someone you were paged he shows her the book she says 2 years since parkers baptism he says 2 years since i found out and lost Parker Nicole says oh no no no its not going to be a date it would just be the 2 of us ringing in the new year she saw father tobias was doing the midnight mass for new years so i thought the 2 of us were free and i didnt want to be alone dwelling on everything i lost and since you are practically my only friend i thought it would be nice if we could hang out together see? He says i do and its a very special night she says great ,what time you picking me up he says thats the thing i have to say no Ej and chad go into the pub Ej says so Samantha and i were in the square and we were standing in the lights of the x-mas tree and the kids were there and they have their presents ,,it was magical chad says yeah sounds like it Ej says it was i told her ,i wanted us to be a family again chad says you did? What did she say? EJ says she didnt say anything which is fine i didnt want to put any pressure on her chad says ah so this is patent EJ Ej says something like that chad says im wondering if you are letting the spirit of the holiday making you a little too optimistic this is sami we are talking about here abi comes in and he says whew Ej says whew? looks like im not the only dimera who has something to look forward to in the new year eh? Rafe says so here it is plain and simple sami says ok go on he says i decided i dont want to play games anymore she says im not playing games he says no?how about the other day at the pub when sydney decided she wanted a stuffed penguin for x-mas so i ran out of there went to 12 stores to try and find it, i found it and i rushed back to the pub and there you were with your arms around Ej she says you saw that? Why didnt you say anything he says what was i supposed to say? She says you could have asked me why and i would have told you that EJ was upset cuz he had just visited his dead sisters lexis grave and i felt bad for him it was x-mas he says ok thats all that was then, just an consoling gesture in the spirit of the holiday she says exactly he says how about your working at countess w. with Ej as your boss again she says we talked about that he says yeah but i dont think we talked about it honestly im wondering if Ej is getting the same mixed signals as i am and i have a feeling that the answer is yes sami has a flashback to Ej from yesterday , asking her for clarity for x-mas about the thing between the 2 of them wondering where she sees that going she says i dont have to sit here and take the 3rd degree from you he says yeah you do actually because you started this conversation and now we are going to finish it jen says she knows jack would want her to be happy and feel loved i was crazy about Daniel i felt like a teenager Hope says and he is crazy about you jen says but so much time has passed what if so much time has passed we cant get back to what we had Hope says if you really want it you have to learn to trust it dan shows maggie the pic kate gave him of parker he says i dont know why im carrying it around with me maggie says he was taken away from you so fast and abruptly he says im trying not to focus on that he aks her to tell him a little bit about him he knows she and vic visit him she says he is a lovely little boy best smile loves to throw a ball vic says he has athletic ability he is a delight he says i have a lot to be hopeful for right now she says yeah you and jen were close the other morning he says we have a lunch date and he cant wait Nicole says ok even though our non date is just about 2 friends hanging out what salem is full of petty gossips who would pounce on the sight of their new priest out on the town with the worlds biggest screw up did you see the look on samis face when she found out we were friends ? He says im not saying no because im afraid people will talk i have plans im volunteering she says oh i see he says if you are looking for a way to fill up your hours i could use an extra pair of hands she says are you crazy? Chad says what are you talking about she is coming abi comes over and says hi ej says Abigail lovely yo see you he kisses her on the cheek i hope you had a pleasant x-mas? She says yeah i did he says says im sure it was hard for you she says yeah but it was better than i hoped eJ says you 2 spent x-mas day together she says yeah ,chad was working and i convinced him to close up early and come to my moms with me chad says and thank you, i had a lovely time she says of course how could you not its the horton house at x-mas i will see you later she leaves to get hot chocolate chad says knock it off ej says i didnt say anything am i supposed to ignore the way you looked at her when she came in ? She is very attractive no? you guys had something special once didnt you? Chad says so im supposed to get back together with her? That would let you off the hook wouldnt it? Sami says why are you doing this now he says i dont know about you but i dont want to go into the new year with the way things are now she says i didnt realize they were that horrible for you he says every time that i think you and i are primed to move forward in our relationship there is Ej then there is you and you arent trying to push him away seems to me that you are encouraging him she says ok fine the truth is im confused and conflicted , i feel like im caught in the middle he says thats where you put yourself she says i i agree im glad we are healing and we can take a step forward ,then ej is the father of 2 of my children and i have been working for him and i can see that he is different he has changed he says well if you think that then so have you she says i realize thats not what you wanted to hear ,but you asked me to be honest he says i dont think you really are all that conflicted , you are in the middle cuz thats where you want to be you could have chosen one of us by now but instead you have the both of us circling around you cuz thats exactly what you want she says thats not true he says if you arent going to admit it to me admit it to yourself Hope and jen talk about Daniel Hope says i have been where you are and i know it can work, you can find yourself with someone again and it can be better than you ever imagined jen thanks her and says she forgot her files in her desk at the hospital Hope says she will go with her they run out eric says i know this might not be your ideal way of spending the night im volunteering at the mens homeless shelter going to ring in the new year and im going to talk to them about their feelings and how they handled them over the holidays sister Margaret is running the same event at the womens homeless shelter she says and you want me to spend the night there? He says yeah why not, its a way to give back and i think it would be good for you she says dont says it why say it would be good for me ? im not your pet project i just dont want to be alone on new years he says im trying to give you something to do she says no you are trying to get me to do something you want me to do you and you freaking faith, im not you and just because i work here doesnt mean i want to be molded into your image hope you have a rocking new years and while you are there helping the homeless guys about their feelings maybe they can teach you how to have a little fun she runs off sami says i get it, its easy to blame this on me , that im being selfish and indecisive i had no idea where you even stood i didnt know i had to sort out my feelings according to your deadline he says i have feelings too and i have sorted them out and im not going to get stuck playing this game anymore i am done there is my answer you asked for it she says ok so what about gabis wedding? He says we are adults im sure we can pull it together and make sure its a success for gabi and nick thats where we are right now ok but if you change your mind and want to shut things down with Ej she says why are you doing that he says because i feel like i earned the right not to be in a competition for you especially not with him he walks away Ej says im sorry things didnt work out with Melanie chad starts to leave Ej says sit down you have to come to terms with the fact that she isnt coming back its time for you to move on with your life i didnt suggest that you went out with Abigail to alleviate any sense of guilt chad says then why? EJ says cuz i want you to be happy and thrive you can be angry with me and gabi but think about the fact that the real person you are angry with is you no one is more responsible for what happened with melanie than you are you dont have to forgive me or gabi but find it in side your self to forgive yourself its just a thought dont waste what new years has to offer its not about resolutions to lose weight or to stop smoking resolve to make a move go out that night doesnt have to be with abigail but someone seize the night seize the year come on i know you can do it brother he rubs his head and pats his face and leaves maggie tells dan its not healthy to suppress his feelings and he knows how much he wants to see jennifer but maybe today isnt the right day for it (jen is listening) he says you think i should cancel our date maggie says yeah you got so much going on i think you arent up for this date right now jen leaves dan says no im not going to cancel our date , i love you i value your feelings but you are wrong today we have an opportunity to share some quality time together im not backing out jen goes back to her office looking glum rafe is at the pub drops money Nicole comes in and picks up the money he dropped she says finders keepers he says i just dropped it give it to me she says cuz you say its yours he says are you calling me a liar she says are you calling me a thief i would pay double just to have one conversation today that didnt result in some moron telling me what to do he says i would pay triple to have someone listen to me ,,you keep it they laugh. sami and eric are at the coffee place sami tells eric that rafe told her that i enjoy the 2 of them fighting over me he said im not competing for you anymore he says what did you say? She says nothing but i wished i had of smacked him he says take a deep breath and try not to worry about it maybe you just need to give it time i think rafe loves you and will come around she says i didnt say i wanted him to come around it sounded final he says maybe he is putting the pressure on you to make that choice one way or the other she says he doesnt think i can but he is wrong i know how to choose Ej comes in and walks over to sami and eric dan gets a text from jen saying its not a good day for lunch he tells maggie she wants to cancel our lunch today jen is home looking at the tree she texts back she isnt feeling well he says that doesnt make sense she sounded fine when i talked to her earlier dan leaves Hope comes over and maggie tells her about the text Hope tells Maggie jen isnt sick they were there together maggie says she might have heard something abi and chad talk at the square says he is going to the Coffee house this is kind of crazy how the holidays are coming to an end do you have any plans for new years eve she says no not much she asks him he says he hasnt given it much thought if i dont see you happy new year she says happy new year he leaves Nicole says must have been some show down between you and sami i never saw you in such a sour mood before he says im tired of being toyed with not going to do it anymore she says was she surprised when you said that he says think so she says did you mean it she isnt some great catch you deserve better he says dont rag on sami she says you love her and she is the one you want to be with he says yes but im not going to compete for her and certainly not with ej and if that the case there is something fundamentally wrong she says you got that so thats it its over i guess i understand thats the way i feel about daniel now and not so long ago he was my whole world im over Daniel now ok im working on getting over it and to be alone on oh my god i figured out a way for us to help each other out . Eric tells sami he is leaving are you going to be ok? Sami says yes Eric says Ej happy new year Ej says happy new year EJ sits with sami and says oh my goodness i thought he would never leave sami laughs and says what do you want? He says i think you know the answer to that question, i made it perfectly clear to you yesterday what im hoping for , for the new year i still havent heard from you though she says dont say it , dont say that you think that im not sure of how i feel im perfectly capable of deciding what i want and what i dont want even if they are very important decisions he says good im glad to hear it i have another one for you jen looks in the mirror takes her earrings off knock on the door its dan with flowers he gives them to her rafe says new years eve? Nicole says well im not busy and im pretty sure your dance card is wide open he says thanks she says havent you seen the fliers the Horton town square is having a huge party EJ says i need you to make a decision yes or no will you be my date for new years eve sami say what ? He says they are having a big party down at the Horton Town Square i was hoping that you might be by my side he takes her hand what do you say? Rafe says would this be she says no no not a date just 2 friends that are stuck with nothing to do on the one night of the year that you dont want to be stuck with nothing to do he says you know what as much as i hate to admit it you are right lets make it official nicole do you want to go out on new years eve she says yes i would love to sami says yes i would be honored to go with you on new years eve nicole says something tells me it will be sami says a night to remember |

Sooooo Sami chooses to go with Ej on that date to prove to Rafe that he's wrong and she can make a decision? The parallel's in the conversation with Sami and Eric/Rafe and Nicole are striking.....this is purely Safe angst, Sami is choosing Ej solely because Rafe has taken himself out of the running. Know what I see....who are the two men that basically have decided to walk away from sami in the last 6 months....Rafe's words were pretty much the same thing that Lucas told her this summer....those are the two men that should be in this triangle, not the two that are now.....Days fix it. |

That's what I have been saying all along. Sami ONLY picks EJ because Rafe won't play her games, bend to her will, won't coddle her, fan her over bloated ego, won't worship the ground she walks. Sami wants a puppet that she can manipulate (Not like old schemer Sami). She's in love with Rafe but loves the attention EJ showers her with. Lucas took himself out of the quad from hell and Rafe was about to step off the tri of doom but alas nothing will change except amplifying the Safe angst. EJ is fooling himself if he thinks he can make this woman magically fall in love with her. Sami won't ever love him, not the way he deserves or the way Nicole loves him. She's using him in this game of tug and war, battles of the wills with Rafe. She's trying to prove she is right by playing with the devil all the while chasing Rafe away because she's too proud to admit he's right and that she's wrong. EJ has NOT changed nor is he a good man. |
