Hehe at that look Kayla just gave Kristen. But I need a slightly different interaction for those two strangers.
Yeah i found Kayla's nastiness to Kristen very weird. Kayla was nowhere near Salem suring kristen's 1st run. It made zero sense to me.
Based on what we can assume Kayla knows about Kristen's history with John and Marlena, I didn't think there was anything altogether inappropriate about her reaction to Kristen. I didn't think she was OTT hostile, although I agree it would have been much better if Kayla had actually been around when Kristen was in Salem before.

I'll certainly take this over everyone forgetting that Kristen was supposed to be dead or Jennifer (someone who actually was in Salem at the same time as Kristen) saying that Kristen had been in prison when she hadn't.

I can agree with this. and yeah...Kristen's return was botched. They missed out on what could have been some marvelous reactions to her being alive.

I thought it was very telling today that Nicole told Rafe that she felt like a person shouldn't have to change who they were to be with someone.

It's from the lyrics of a song "What's Playing at the Roxy?" in "Guys and Dolls". LOL

What's playing at the Roxy?
I'll tell you what's playing at the Roxy.
A picture about a Minnesota man falls in love with a Mississippi girl
That he sacrifices everything and moves all the way to Biloxi.
That's what's playing at the Roxy.

I googled it.

It's for sure that little bit of dialogue wasn't aimed at their demo group.

Isn't the fact that Kristen is Stefano's daughter and EJ's sister -- that she's a DiMera -- enough to incur Kayla's instant dislike?

Instant dislike, yes. Instant recognition, no.

As a musical theater fan, I'll tip my hat to the writer who came up with that reference, lol. And sure, it's dated. But Guys and Dolls is a piece that is being done constantly around the country in high school, college, and community theatre productions.

That bit is actually a lead in to the title song. And there are some lines there that remind me of EJ on NYE:

When a bum buys wine like a bum can't afford
It's a cinch that the bum is under the thumb of some little broad.
...
When a guy wears tails with the front gleaming white
Who the hell do you think he's tickling pink on Saturday night?
...
Call it sad, call it funny.
But it's better than even money
That the guy's only doing it for some doll.

That whole analogy was STUPID as was their ENTIRE conversation.

No way would Nicole have ever asked, let alone given a HOT DAMN, if Rafe had scored with Sami. Friendship with him or not.

It was all dumb, contrived, bullshit. AND, her dress was ugly. Why do they dress this gorgeous woman so badly?

Kayla's heard from Marlena about Kristen. Marlena was telling her things in the pub one day. It makes sense that given Kristen's history with Marlena, Kayla wouldn't roll out the welcome mat.

Stefano and EJ cost Kayla plenty. She figures Kristen's cut from the same cloth.

Thing is, she's not wrong.

Kristen can be entertaining, though.

When I said I would have liked something different for them, I meant I'd have liked an introduction.
