"I'm always right. Just remember that when we're married." I get that Nick was joking, but probably only half-joking. Dude has his head up his ass.
The guy is getting more and more possessive...he's definitely going to target anyone that gets in his way.
I hate to hear that they are writing Nick this way.

On a minor note, Wilson have settled into a nice couple chemistry, although they seem like a couple that has been together for years rather than months. It's going to be sad when they break up over the Wabi baby secret.
That bow tie scene was adorable.

Wow, they sure gave Kayla a mouthful of exposition today didn't they? I do love that she talks about not being proud of Stephanie being manipulative and insecure. Because as much as I love Stephanie, she was very much those things at that time.

And I give props to the show for coming up with an explanation that doesn't require a retcon at all. It fits perfectly within what we saw happen, except that the DNA results didn't give a name, just a yes or no. But that's a minor point. As was discussed on Twitter today, I think there is a good chance this was always supposed to be the story, but it got changed somewhere along the line. Maybe because SH and JKJ were leaving or maybe because Dena got fired. But there was enough speculation back in the day and this explanation fits so perfectly that I do think it was planned for in some way.

On another note, why wouldn't Parker still call Victor, "Grandpa"? Victor is married to Parker's grandmother. It's just not biological anymore. And hey, Maggie just made that point. Well done, show.

And I'm really sad we didn't get the Philip/Stephanie offscreen confrontation. That would have been fun.

I wish they would give Kayla more to do.

PS That Kayla / EJ scene at christmas was captivating. Plus side of EJ hooking up with Sami would be to see more Kayla/EJ snarkiness.

I wish they would give her more to do too. I'm not even looking for a major storyline, but how about some scenes with Hope where she talks about how she feels about her marriage falling apart or being a single mom. Or even with Jennifer about moving on. I know people don't like Jennifer moving on, but Kayla would be somebody who understands that process - and vice versa. I'd just love a few scenes that at least allowed Kayla to have some feelings of her own.

But I am grateful that, in that Christmas scene, they allowed her to be about the only person in Salem who hasn't just forgiven and forgotten the things EJ has done. That bitchface she gave EJ was the highlight of the entire episode for me.

I wanted to straighten my hair, so I decided not to do a pbp. I know some of y'all are relieved. However, within three minutes, I realized this wasn't going to work, so I had to take notes.

The episode as a whole wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't good. Meanwhile, two pretty dramatic stories were referenced and we didn't get to see them play out.

The Nabi/Wabi drama was better today than I usually find it. For the most part everyone seemed to be in possession of a brain. That's rare and nice. Where does Will live now? I know they were at Sami's, but is that where he's living? Sonny's dialogue about Will having to get Nick a gift because he's the best man was weird. Will's response was great, but you get him a gift because weddings and gifts go together. Also, Lucas told Nick to take a seat and Nick answered by ordering coffee...but then Lucas sat down and the two of them got up later to order coffee. Weird.

My #1 issue with their story today was the discussion about Gabi's mom. Look...I don't want another Hernandez either. But Gabi's mom finding out Gabi's knocked up supposedly by her ex-con boyfriend is actual drama. This has been a consistent issue with the last few regimes. Stop telling us about all this dramatic stuff that happens offscreen.

The Jennifer scenes were just excessive. The worst though was Billie and Lucas trying to wake her up. Just ugh.

Chloe/Daniel/Kayla/Victor/Maggie. Well, my complaint about this is different than usual. They actually did a really good job of making this make sense. The flashbacks were a nice touch, and the fact that it happened over Christmas was a nice tie-in to Stephanie's first phone call...you know, the one I asked if it was going to be relevant later? Right. And that's all the positive I can say about it. Doing this story and not including Stephanie and Philip ONSCREEN is just ridiculous. And heck, even include Caroline a little more. That could still be coming, though.

Chloe referring to this as "a miracle" was just bad. It's not like we've seen anyone on the show asking for this to happen. IDK if there are people who have been anxious for this to happen all along, but IMO that whole aspect of the scenes just fell flat. Daniel's reunion with Parker fell even flatter. There was an episode of build up. Seriously? That was supposed to be emotional? Well, it wasn't.

Other weird things about this story:
-Henderson came in and took 5 minutes to announce Philip who was apparently a mere 5 feet away from where Victor was anyway.
-Maggie is going to have to get to know Parker? It's even been referenced that she and Victor visit him.
-It took Maggie way too long to catch on that Parker was her grandson.
-Parker is f'ing 2 years old, Maggie. He's too old for blanket peek-a-boo and that voice.
-Daniel hasn't seen Parker since he was born. Really? No.
-And this has nothing to do with that story, but Maggie mentioned to Nick that Kate's business might be an issue for his parole office. Really, Maggie? You mean Mad World Cosmetics? That's owned by YOUR HUSBAND?

Oh, I meant to comment on this too. I both liked it and I was rubbed the wrong way by it. It was very accurate and I was glad to have her address it. I think it bothered me because it was behind Stephanie's back. It was weird because I was cheering and cringing at the same time.

I'd love to see Kayla have that conversation with Stephanie onscreen. But, to be fair, Kayla did basically say those things to Stephanie in those visits where this all came out -- especially the first one. I can't specifically recall that she said the "I'm not proud" part, but she pretty directly called Stephanie out on what she was doing.

But I agree with your comment above about having the Philip and Stephanie parts play out offscreen is criminal. That's where such a big part of the drama is. Philip and Stephanie have a history and I would have loved to have seen the confrontation between them. And the fallout when the DNA test came out. And, of course, Philip actually saying goodbye to Parker. That would have been emotional.

Mmm....

So I saw 5 minutes of the show today in passing and I heard Phillip's name and stopped in my tracks when Maggie said he was upstairs saying goodbye to Parker. So even though I knew there was no chance in hell of it happening, all I kept hoping was that these damn writers actually pulled a fast one and that Mr. Dimples was going to come down the stairs and be back on the show. Please kick Daniel to the curb and get Phillip back. I can't believe they are giving Daniel a child. I'm so disgusted they thought this was better story telling than Nicole having her miracle baby.

Remember when moments like a father (or mother) being reunited with his son were impacting? I felt nothing when Parker ran into Daniel's arms. Absolutely nothing. And it has nothing to do with the character being unpopular. I don't hate Daniel like everyone else does. I felt nothing because this "twist" literally came out of nowhere. I'm not even against the idea, like I've said before. I kind of like Parker being Daniel's son. However, you can't throw one episode at us of Kate and Daniel discussing Parker and call it "build-up." There was no lead-in to Daniel being Parker's father and it showed in that last scene. What should've been an emotional moment could be compared to one of the characters walking into the Brady Pub. It just meant nothing.

This show has lacked the ability to pace a story for years. MarDar were too slow and now TomSell are completely over correcting, which means very little is emotionally interesting.

Who in their right mind thought Billie should wear that coat she was sporting today? It looks like someone gutted a sleeping bag, added sleeves to it and retained the zipper so that it extends two feet above her head. The damn thing looks like it has spouted wings and is ready to fly off at a moment's notice. I seldom pay much attention to the clothing worn on this show unless someone looks stunning or exceptionally good; but I don't think I have ever seen something so hideous on this show that wasn;t intended to be so ugly. Thankfully Lisa Rinna is leaving the show at the end of the month so I hope I never have to see that thing again (the coat, that is).
Who in their right mind thought giving Lisa Rinna an acting part was a good idea. I concede by this point in time I wouldn't blame her for phoning it in but surely she wants to look vaguely professional.
I've seen more convincing school plays. Her input just mocks the very existence of the show.
Since her return this time, Lisa Rinna has been my comic relief lol

Although beautiful, Nadia Bjorlin is such a terrible actress. Please turn Chloe back into the diva that returned in 2007. Or turn her back to Ghoul Girl. Those two time periods have been the only time Bjorlin has been able to handle the writing and showcase some sort of acting talent.

I was really surprised to see the Stephanie and Ian flashbacks today since Hennig is no longer on the show. Don't see that much, especially on DAYS. Same with Philip returning. It was kind of lame to have Philip be off-screen (like Bo at the moment), but I guess I have to give Tomlin/Whitesell credit to have Philip "in Salem" rather than out of town dealing with the news. At least they can say Philip was around family while dealing with losing Parker as a son, even if we never get to see him. Caught by surprise from both aspects today. I liked it.

My Parker has grown!

It just meant nothing.

So Maggie's a grandmother. Yay. :sarcasm:

Even though Rinna's entire return has been pointless, I'm glad to see Billie and Jennifer's friendship showcased again. The same thing can be said about Lucas and Jennifer. Dattilo isn't being given anything meaningful, but I do appreciate his involvement in his sister's story.

A bachelor party at a coffee shop has to be the lamest idea I ever heard. At least close the coffee shop to the public and have alcohol for the guys to drink. Strippers. Anything.

I always like the angle of someone, unbeknownst to the viewers, overhearing a secret.
I agree with most of this. I never thought Nadia was a good actress either and her return does nothing for me. Although I did like when she was ghould girl lol Go figure lol

Maggie/Victor - I found these scenes nice. I liked how Suzanne played it. She looked good today, too. I much prefer her with straightened hair. She looks great with it. Poor Victor though. I love the kid who plays Parker. I remember him on Dexter and Last Man Standing.

Jennifer/Lucas/Billie - Poor Bryan Dattilo and Lisa Rinna. Glorified extras. Jennifer was so annoying. I wish one of them would have told her to shut up about Daniel. Every other word out of her mouth is his name. Damn woman. Obsessive much? I wish they'd actually explore this obsession Jennifer has with this man. Lucas was great as always. I LOVED Jenn falling over that box. LMAO.

Daniel/Chloe/Kayla - Shawn Christian cannot act. Seriously. He was terrible as always. The whispering, the heavy breathing, the sighing ... oh my God. Nadia looked bored out of her mind already. At least Mary Beth Evans acted with what little she had. I saw more emotion out of her than either Nadia or Shawn. I liked the flashbacks of Stephanie and Ian. I miss Shelley and Stephanie, actually.

Will/Sonny - I liked the bowtie scene. I just wish they had a better storyline. It is nice to see Sonny have a little bit more personality (the hate for Gabi). I want more though.

Nick/Gabi - I wish I could care about Gabi. I should have actually given a damn with her worrying about her mother and I just didn't. I'm still not sure about Nick. The writing is so on-again, off-again, with him, depending on who he is with. I liked him with Maggie and I actually think I like him with Gabi (yeah, I know ...) but the writing isn't there for him.

Chad/Cameron - Blah. New Cameron is so boring. I hope we see more of him. I want to say he COULD have potential. It's too bad Chad and Cameron are only sharing scenes because of the insta-triangle between Chad/Cameron/Abby. Everything is just so slapped together for the sake of the "stakes being raised" for this wedding reveal. Hard to invest in that.

The potential is so here. Sigh.
lol Nadia and Shawn could be replaced by sock puppets.

I like nuCameron miles better than Frankenleno already. He's prettier and he delivered his lines with SOME personality.
