I think it's amazing that after all these years, Sweeney still doesn't get her character's family dynamic. Doesn't see Sami as a victim my ass.
No one understands a character more than the actor that portrays them.
not true....usually actors have issues portraying a character that continues to change at the whim of every writing change. JS has expressed this on and off throughout the years himself. Ali Sweeney SHOULD know that Sami seeing her family being opposed to Ej/The DImeras has never stopped the character from actually being with Ej or any Dimera....frankly that was the entire purpose of that intervention at the church before Ejami's black wedding....they tried to stop her (ALL OF THEM) and she didn't care.
AS has expressed her displeasure with the way her character had been written during the Safe period too. She's been lumberjack plaid wearing pod Sami for the last three or four years. She's beyond thrilled that Sami's going back to her formal self. Sami is a villain and AS is happy to go back to some of that. That's probably why she doesn't consider her character as a victim. Actually, I've never considered Sami a victim either, there's been a lot of tit for tat between her and EJ. I think she topped everything he did with the bullet in the head. Only Sami and EJ can look back and laugh about it. All I'm saying is, Ejami is refreshing to me. IMO her character fits best with him, and why shouldn't AS be happy about finally getting a chance to explore it? They've got a lot of support and if the writers will write Sami and EJ in character and not rehash past storylines, there could be lots of good stuff coming. AS has also said that she loved how her character grew while with safe. I think that the lesson to be learned is to form your own opinion regardless of what AS says. Whether or not she loves or hates it shouldn't affect our own opinions. That's true of any actor.

I thnk the video is all kinds of cute because AS and JS have a fun, flirty chemistry that translates well for them on-screen. But that's about it. I really don't give a shit which of the "ami" pairings AS prefers or if she thinks Sami makes the world's best homemaker. And JS could be a rapid Ejaylor shipper and prefer that EJ be written as a psychopath for all I care. Neither of them write the show so they don't get a say. What I care about is what shows up on screen. And as long as their personal preferences don't negatively color their performance, then those preferences don't really matter to me. If I like how the characters or couple is portrayed on the show, I'm good.

I remember she and GG gave an interview a couple of years ago when she was asked if she liked the way her character was being written and if she enjoyed playing the good girl. She said she enjoyed being the good girl and welcomed the change. Her opinion of her character apparently changes with how Sami is written. I have learned not to put much stock in what she says about Sami.

She mentioned several times that she missed the old Sami, but it's irrelevant really, since the characters are at the mercy of the writers. Anyways, she's entitled to her own views and opininions too, and doesn't have to be crucified for it on the social media. We all have the option of switching the channel.

I certainly understand Ali that she likes the story with James, as an actor, you always want to be challenged and it's always a joy to see the two actors click as well, it's usually more fun to play more shady and complex than one noted character. Anyway, I find them entertaining and seeing lots of story possibilities for this couple, but then it's like I said up to the writers how they choose to write them. And as someone said, it does not matter what an actor prefer because they do not have the final say in terms of storyline.

This is why this conversation won't end. Yes, she has said she missed the old Sami. She has also said she liked the new mature writing she was supposedly getting. She's said both of those things this year, and it's only February. That's the whole point. She's said it all and a lot of it's contradictory. She has said she likes working with James, Galen, and Bryan. Did she also say she liked working with Galen and Bryan because as an actor she likes the challenge and because the two actors click well? If everyone would stop acting like her interviews about one actor or character were the only interviews she's ever done, I could stop banging my head against this wall.

But this is just my opinion. :)

Actually, I think she LOVES to be the center of attention...and that's okay with me, just admit it! As long as I am able to FF every single scene she is in, I am just fine! I am just sorry that I never really got to appreciate JS as an actor most of his tenure...or maybe not, who knows!? Whatever, I detest the Sami character and her portrayer does nothing to convince me otherwise. Thanks again for the remote control!

I truly think she might pick up on the Sami-Conversation-flavor-of-the month, depending on the discussions on boards. I think someone checks boards for her, and she might reflect what is being said, trying to please fans. I'm with Lysie on this one. Sweeney is all over the map. Seriously. Despite everything, I think she wants to be everything to all people. I can identify with that.
