That was the last time Days was # 1 in the Nielsen household ratings...the week of July 25-29, 1988 (Steve/Kayla's wedding). However, YR's streak at # 1 started at the end of that year (the week of 12/26/88, I guess AMC/OLTL/GH came in at # 1 a few times between August-December 1988). Prior to the Steve/Kayla wedding week, the last time "Days" had been # 1 was the week of 3/11-3/15/74. I don't have the Nielsen ratings chart for that week in July 1988, but here's what the ratings looked like a few weeks before, the first week of June 1988: Daytime Nielsen ratings for the week of 5/30/88-6/3/88 Rank. Series...Rating/Share 1. The Young & the Restless...7.2/27 2. All My Children...7.0/24 3. One Life to Live...6.9/24 4. General Hospital...6.7/23 5. Days of Our Lives...6.4/22 6. Days > Y&R Kristen > Ashley Brady >>>>>>>> ANY love interest she every had on Y&R (and that includes Tucker, Brad, and Granddaddy Victor) She got a H-U-G-E upgrade in leading men with Martsolf. The man is sexy as hell. And he's come into his own as a leading male. I just love them together, and I think it's been one of the best pairings Tomlin has created this time around. It's a HUGE win. The actors really connect together. It was a gamble, but it paid off.
