MAXINE GETS A NEW LAST NAME!

Maxine's last name was only said once on "Days", in the March 21, 2011 episode. As Rafe 2 is in pain, Sami screams for "Nurse Thomas" to come in and help and the scene ends. The next scene begins with Maxine present. The end credits however, have always just listed her as Maxine. In today's February 18 credits, she is listed as Maxine Landis. Let's see if someone mentions her last name of Landis this week when we see Maxine!

Here's the video of Maxine Thomas:

FROM THE VAULT: DOUG & JULIE DEPART SALEM, 1984:

During some recent research, I happened to find this article detailing the 1984 exit of Bill and Susan Hayes. 29 years have passed and many "Days" fans still want Doug & Julie brought back to Salem on a more regular basis!

Al Rabin called them in and told them they'd be getting their guarantee cut to 1 episode per week, 50 episodes per year, at half their annual salaries.

Susan decided to write an additional, final line that Julie would say. Watch their final scene and find out what that line was at http://www.jason47.com/days/vault1984dj.html

CALLING ALL "DAYS" FANS!! HELP CORRECT AN ERROR FROM THE HISTORY BOOKS!!

I was recently asked about Cindy Fisher playing the role of Bo's friend, Diane Parker. I have found no proof that she ever played Diane. I believe this is another error like the one about Sheila Wills playing Lexie Carver (she did not, as confirmed by both my research and James Reynolds himself). Once an error gets into one history book, it's bound to be repeated in all the rest. It's not until all 12,000 episodes are researched that some of those "history book" errors can be corrected.

Now, let's finally solve the mystery of Cindy Fisher never appearing as Diane Parker (she did appear in the 1970's however as Patti Griffin). NONE of the history books list Pamela Ludwig as Diane, and she is definitely the first Diane, who first appears on 2/22 and 2/23/84 (as confirmed by both parking clearances and her SAG Actor's Yearbook photo). Then "Days" states on air that Dana Kimmell debuts on 2/24 and DeAnna Robbins debuts on 4/3.

All of the clips of the first 9 Diane episodes are queued up to begin right when Diane appears. Please take around 5 minutes and briefly view these 9 clips. Are you in consensus with me about the three actresses, and that Cindy Fisher never appears as Diane?? Post your answers here and let's clear up another "Days" error. Thanks!!

2/22/84: First Diane episode...FIRST ACTRESS...Parking Clearance says it is Pamela Ludwig

2/23/84: Diane's second episode...same actress (per parking clearance: Pamela Ludwig)

3/22/84: Diane's eighth episode (still Dana Kimmell)

Life is awesome

Interesting. I was watching the clip of Hope's attempted wedding to Larry Welch for the first time today and was wondering why Tom was giving 'Hope' away instead of Doug.

Thanks for sharing, Jason.

Bill and Susan are so great. I love how open and honest they always are.

I loved how Bill said about asking fans for support in saving jobs, when they really want to get rid of you that's it.

Also sounds like DAYS knew just what they were doing. Not 'firing' them, but offering them very little and making it painfully clear where they stood in the chow line. In effect to force them to turn down the offer and in effect 'quit'. That way DAYS could try to save face with a glib, we wanted them to stay, we offered a new contract but they turned it down double talk.

And why does their story remind me of Peter's negotiations and leaving last year?
hmmm...

as always great stuff Jason. thanks

In an old Soap Opera Encyclopedia I have published in 1997 it lists Diane Parker being played by:

Dana Kimmell 1983 - 1984
Cindy Fisher 1984
Deanna Robbins 1984 - 1985

Then again my book has no character by the name of Patti Griffin.

Yes, the Diane character seems to have the most mistakes in the history books!

There was no Diane until 2/22/84. So Dana Kimmell (nor anyone else) played Diane in 1983. I even checked to see if there were any "unnamed" hookers of Foxy's who appeared in mid-late 1983 (Diane starts off in her first scene as a hooker who works for Foxy Humdinger), but there weren't any after January 1983, because the actress who played Foxy (Diane McBain) was beaten badly in real life (and if I remember correctly from reading, also raped) at the end of 1982. So they "suspended" the whole "Foxy liking Doug" storyline for an entire year while Ms. McBain was recovering from her assault. After January 1983, Foxy didn't appear again until January 1984.

UPDATE: Diane McBain was assaulted on Christmas Day, 1982...here's the story: http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=QGtWAAAAIBAJ&sjid=q-kDAAAAIBAJ&pg=5662,9853684&dq=diane+mcbain+raped&hl=en

Pamela Ludwig is not listed in any of the history books as Diane. Her name seems to have been replaced by Cindy Fisher in the books erroneously.

The correct Diane order is:
Pamela Ludwig 1984
Dana Kimmell 1984
DeAnna Robbins 1984-1985

On a side note, I didn't realize until researching this week, that Cindy Fisher is the wife of YR's Doug Davidson. They happened to get married in real life just as Diane Parker arrived in Salem!

I took all Cindy Fisher-related Diane Parker stuff off my website today. But she remains a part of the Days "family" since she played Patti Griffin in the 1970s.
