Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
As I've said earlier, I don't think Eric is doing anything wrong, but anyway, consulting his parents would do no good, because EJ hasn't ever done anything to either one of them. IIRC, he had Nicole apologize for the people she hurt directly. I think she apologized to Maggie and possibly Abby, but I'm pretty sure that was her doing. Eric didn't ask her to go make nice with Lucas and Hope and maybe track down Bill and Laura.
Are you effing kidding me?
I'll wait while you name the things he did directly to them.
I'm not interested in sitting here and naming all of his sins. But if Marlena especially isn't pretty highly ranked on his apology tour, that's ridiculous. And to be clear, I don't want him going on an apology tour but that's not really the point.

I really don't want to get into a back and forth who did what to who with you on something that I know you know what I'm talking about, lol. EJ's crimes have affected more people than just Rafe and Sami but Sami is the only one he's ever really seemed to show remorse about. And that's fine but it does keep him from really being above any reproach from a priest, especially a priest related to his victims.

That Family Genealogy Kristen gave Chad was printed straight from the NBC Days page. http://www.nbc.com/days-of-our-lives/about/days-101/family-tree/dimera-family/

After finally getting to see the episode, I'd have to say that it was pretty boring. Everything in the episode was just a setup for another episode which is very irksome.

Actually, no. I don't know what you're talking about. We're discussing a very specific thing here - Eric's expectations for people who are trying to do better. He asked something very specific of Nicole - which was not to go make amends with everyone she ever hurt, but to go apologize to the two people she most recently targeted. And my point is that Rolena wouldn't be able to tell Eric whether EJ has done what he asked Nicole to do. Nicole's crimes affected a lot of people over the years as well and Eric hasn't asked her to go make up with all of them, only with two people - the ones directly affected (and the third person who was directly harmed, EJ, was left off the list of people Nicole needed to make things up to, all together). And I'm not sure why you're talking about whether or not EJ should be above reproach from a priest, because I never said that he should, either.

At least they finally decided Kristen was enough of a Dimera to deserve to be on the tree.

I was mainly trying to figure out how Nick is related to Lucas and Will. Turns out he's a VERY distant cousin.

Okay, I'll play. Let's see. EJ tampered with the plane that John and Marlena were in when they went to get the antidote to the biotoxin that Kayla needed (which she wouldn't have needed if he had biotoxined her), causing Marlena to jump out of the plane and be rescued by Smokey Robinson (possibly his greatest sin). He also shot John, putting him in a coma, which directly affected Marlena.

There's also the embezzlement charges he framed John for which also directly affected Marlena. And he should have killed Belle when he had the chance which would have also directly affected Marlena. And that's just the stuff off the top of my head and doesn't include his participation in stuff his father was doing from time to time.

Too bad Peter didn't make the cut. Poor guy was shot and contracted Jungle Madness, then sent to prison for nothing. :shame:

I forgot about the plane, but that's the only thing that would count for this. I did bring up the other Hortons in my example for a reason, lol. Did EJ hurt Marlena when he hurt her family? Yes, but that is not relevant to the discussion, because Eric didn't require Nicole to apologize to everyone who got hurt in the fallout of her scheme, only to everyone who she targeted.

Even before he was a priest, history shows that Eric and Sami, although twins, where not on the same side AT ALL. He hated how she would be scheming to get Austin away from Carrie....they might have had a close relationship as siblings (the whole twin thing) but they never saw eye to eye. So now that he's a priest, I don't expect him to all of a sudden not mind Sami's behavior, especially when she was giving everyone mixed signals about who she wanted to be with just a few weeks ago.
Although I disagree about the concept of Eric being on a particular side, in the long run, it doesn't affect my original point. Kristen, with all her schemes and badness, is more understanding of EJ, even when she doesn't agree with him, than the holy Eric, who preaches forgiveness and second chances and acceptance, is of Sami. Therein lies the irony, IMO.
I just don't see how it's ironic that two villains would be accepting of one another. And a priest isn't supposed to be about second chances and acceptance in the middle of the sin.
Pretty much this. Also, maybe I haven't been paying close enough attention, because I haven't seen Kristen disagree with E.J. in a truly substantive way about anything. She might counsel him in a particular way and he may or may not take on board her input, but she rarely, if ever, has a problem with his choices.

I guess I'm confused because I was responding to your statement that EJ never did anything to either of Sami's parents. He did lots of things to Marlena and I don't buy that just because John as shot, it doesn't count as hurting Marlena. Beyond that, I don't quite get the connection between Eric trying to help Nicole and Eric not liking EJ and/or not liking Sami with EJ.

Eric and Nicole have a history. Nicole was at a very low point when Eric arrived and while she may not have directly asked for his help, she accepted it. And she has shown genuine remorse for things she's done. None of those things apply to EJ or Kristen. More importantly, nothing that Nicole is doing now is directly affecting his family the way that EJ and Kristen are.

Nonetheless, I will concede that in a black/white world with no context, Eric is being a big ol' hypocrite. So be it. I'd rather have that then one more person fall at EJ's feet.

Not understanding the Sami fucked EJ to get her way theory. Sami doesn't need to do that for EJ to do whatever she asks of him. She's not exactly unfamiliar with EJ's darker side. It's not like she seducing an innocent into doing something 'bad' If anything I think in that moment of passion, she set her 'bad girl' free and just voiced her darker desire to get rid of Nick.

Not all sex is schmoopy and sappy when in a loving relationship. How boring would that be? Just because yesterday wasn't a sap fest, doesn't mean Sami is hung up on Rafe, or this isn't supposed to be a loving relationship, or anything else. EJ and Sami just fucked each others brains out - much to my delight! :)

My point is that for all Eric knows, EJ may have done the same things Eric asked of Nicole - which was to apologize to the people she targeted. Marlena got hurt as a result of the things EJ did, but she was no more a target than Abby was of Nicole's lie about the baby.

And there are at least a few posts around here with me saying that I don't feel like Eric is doing the wrong thing, so I'm not looking for him to fall at EJ's feet, either.

I thought she meant Roman, Sami's father, not John.
