Interesting comment by Galen as far as hoping he'll remain integral to the canvas and storytelling...

Thanks for posting this. Have a question: Why would James Scott and Ali Sweeney know about the Rafe and Kate twist before they did? It almost sounds like JS and AS are privy to things other cast members aren't.

Sounds like "Rate" is short-term.

Cute interview. Seems like they're having fun with it and genuinely surprised by the fan reaction.

Maybe they just got their scripts first, but it does sound strange.

It sounds like GG and LK found out a week before the scenes were shot which is usually when scripts come out, I think. JS and AS may have just picked theirs up a day earlier.

I actually hope that Rafe/Galen stays on the canvas. It's amazing how the character just clicks when he's not around Sami. Between the newfound snarkiness and the lessening of his "Dudley-Do-Right" qualities, I quite like him.

I can agree that it has been good for the character Rafe to break away from Sami, but the thing is that I still can not find the character particularly interesting, Kate, however, is interesting and I can see that if they play Rate it can create drama with Will, Gabi, Stefano etc.

I think Rate is the dumbest thing ever. Period. Even dummer than Santeen... Wait... Okay there are worse things.

Nice to see two actors show respect to their former pairings and not diss them.

They actually look good together but still creepy.

Well, to be fair, Rafe is more watchable now with Kate than he ever was with Sami, IMO.

Or maybe because I just can't stand to watch Sami at all (you know, like "guilt by association").

I still don't know what to make of Rate. Every time they're on, I am more bewildered than anything. They catch my attention, so I guess that's good? But I still sit there staring wondering what the hell's happening.

It does make one wonder doesn't it?

Ali and James said in the SOD interview that they went to the producer to confirm that EJami was really the story line direction when they got their scripts. Perhaps they were told where Rafe's character was going in that discussion. Or perhaps it really is just as simple as they got their scripts before Galen and Lauren.

YES! I was so impressed by that. Galen didn't yell at Michael and tell him not to mention the word "SAFE" or anything! I guess they are professional enough to know that kind of stuff doesn't go over too well with the fans.

Also, LL I agree--AS and JS knowing first speaks volumes. It sounds like they have to many cooks in the kitchen AND a couple of them don't have a clue what the fans want to see.

I edit to say Rafe has been a big part of the show from the second he stepped on the set, there is no reason to think he won't be around for a long time. I didn't get the impression GG thought any different than that.

I only seem to enjoy Galen/Rafe when he's playing out of character. When he played the double it was the best he's ever been on the show (regardless of how stupid that storyline was). He's good with Kate too as he's having fun.
