TBS has renewed the Courteney Cox series for a fifth season, after taking the show over from ABC when it was canceled. The upcoming fifth season will be the show's second on TBS. The fourth season of the show, which also stars Christa Miller, Busy Philipps, Dan Byrd, Ian Gomez, Josh Hopkins and Brian Van Holt, will air its finale on April 9. "'Cougar Town' has been everything we hoped it would be: a smart, big-hearted, laugh-out-loud comedy that shines a bright light on the TBS brand," Michael Wright, president and head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies, said of the renewal. "This season, the brilliant cast and immensely creative production team on 'Cougar Town' have crafted their best episodes yet, and we couldn't be happier inviting them back for more." In its fourth season, which launched Jan. 8, "Cougar Town" has averaged 2.8 million total viewers, with 1.7 million of them in the 18-49 demographic most important to advertisers in Live + 7 delivery, which takes into account DVR viewings that take place in the seven days after a telecast. The series has been TBS' best-rated original prime-time program in the demo. http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=798127 |
