But wait a second, wasn't Hope supposed to have "her hands full" with a new character? I was hoping it would be Vargas. Looks like that was nixed to give Nicole (a favorite character of the morons running this stupid show) first dibs on him. :censored: Ugh.

Oh well, guess I'll just sit back and enjoy Ciara Of The Corn.
Actually, Nicole isn't a favorite by any means, but there seem to be quite a few people, at least on this board, that actually like her, unlike Fetch, who was constantly on. It's not like they've been throwing men at Nicole's feet up until now.

I don't see Nicole as favored by any means:
1) She can't have a child and looses them brutally (I mean a stillbirth? Come on!)

2) She was a victim of sexual abuse by her father drugging her and having her perform in porn movies underage, which apparently allows everyone in Salem to call her a porn star.

3) She has now become the prop for Fetch

4) The man she currently loves is a priest

I agree Hope needs a storyline, but at least as Pop-Up Hope she's not getting thrown under a bus either.

If Nicole is a favourite of the morons running this show I must be watching in an alternative universe. It certainly doesn't feel as though she's getting any favours.

Nicole and Vargas were showing slight signs of potential but that pretty much been ruined irrevocably now. I think Nicole's main role seems to be to make the male actors look desirable again. Instant redemption have a flirt with Nicole , appear to be charming then dump her and help your new woman kick the boot in on the way down.

Maybe Hope's new man is the next prisoner coming on the prisoner release scheme rather than vargas? Although soon we are going to have more ex cons than Drs.

Nicole, a favorite of TPTB? Don't make me laugh...

To me, Nicole is a favorite of TPTB because she gets lots of story. Yes, she comes out on the losing end a lot (she reminds me of late 90s and early 2000s Sami in that way), but the writers clearly love writing for her. And loving a character doesn't always mean you write good outcomes for them. Most writers torture their favorites because it creates more story for them.

That's why she gets a lot of promotion, right? And twitter updates? But, they definitely write well for them. This is about the only story they're getting right. But, I'm talking about writer favorites that don't necessarily seem like fan favorites.
With your logic, then the writers just adore Marlena!

I don't know about Marlena - it doesn't feel like she's gotten much screentime to me. Lately it's been more, but I don't feel like TomSell have used her very prominently since they started.

But yeah, in general I think screentime tends to be a better indication of which characters are the writers' favorites, as opposed to whether good things are happening to those characters.

1 out of 32 spoilers for the first two weeks of May refer to Nicole.

And even that one is a repetitive Nicole and Vargas have a tense encounter.

If she is on for an episode its usually short 4 minutes or tops 8 minutes as opposed to others who are around 15 minutes.

I don't know what you're talking about. Nicole has been in front burner storylines since she came back in 2007/2008. Marlena would kill for that kind of writing.

In fact, all these actors would, except for maybe AS, who's on just as much/more.

...and I'm still waiting for Ericole to have their shot at being the A story, at least for a month. I'm not greedy.

Looks like we need to call Jason in.

They will. They're writing Ericole like all the good ones. Slow, slow, slow.

I remember waiting, what felt like a year, for a first super couple kiss.

It's called worth waiting for, and with Ericole, I think we're going to get it.

I don't mind if we have to wait a year for them to kiss, there's no need to rush the romance.

Just a need to up the stakes, actually have things happen, and the airtime.

Its easy to forget them when they are tucked away in the convent.

Oh and the subtext is phenomenal .... but some more dialogue would be appreciated.

Yeah, I get that they're taking their time, and I appreciate that. But, back in the day, we weren't looking at Steve/Kayla or Jack/Jenn or Roman/Doc/John one episode a week like we are with Ericole. There were many days when those pairings did things together without kissing or hitting the sheets. We can't even get an episode when Eric and Nicole aren't in the church shuffling papers and drinking water.

I'd pay to see a few episodes with an out-of-town trip where they get stranded alone for a couple of days (no sex, just longing looks) or just to see them out of that church office.

On second thought, maybe I am greedy 'cause I want more!!! :frustration:

I think the writers love Nicole, too, they just see her as more of a foil for their lead instead of as their lead. Being a constant victim and losing in the end has nothing to do with being favored or not. The ones they don't like are offscreen. The writers have nothing to do with promotion and twitter updates. Marlena was definitely a favorite of the writers...15 years ago. She hasn't been since Reilly. Sheffer's regime even alluded to not understanding her.

They need to balance out the good and the bad.
In the days when days was interesting bad things happened to good people.
Eg zack getting run over and it was final and it didn't get all made better in a couple of months.
Example now hope getting out of jail after two months for bumping those guys off. She should have been in jail longer and dealt with more long term consequences. Not here you are back on the force.

Still I guess I shouldn't complain I'm glad Nicole's record got expunged.

But there needs to be more of a mix up of good things happening to those considered bad and bad things happening to those considered good. There's no point getting invested now because the consequences for some never seem to last long.
