TV Guide Exclusive: One Life to Live's Tuc Watkins Opens Up to Marie Osmond About Being a Gay Dad

By Michael Logan

We thought Tuc Watkins had the role of a lifetime as One Life to Live's madcap hedonist David Vickers. Turns out he's got an even greater role these days! Watkins will appear on the Hallmark Channel talk show Marie (Monday, April 29, noon/11c) and reveal for the first time that he's a gay single dad, telling host Marie Osmond that he recently welcomed twins Catchen and Curtis via surrogate.

The happily sleep-deprived star says the four-month-olds are just starting to giggle which "makes all those midnight feedings totally worth it."

Watkins, who will reprise his OLTL role when the soap reboots on the Internet April 29, is joined on Marie by his sister Courtney Watkins, a teacher and host of the Disney web series The Possibility Shop. The actor tells Osmond he was certain about three things when he was young: "I knew I was gay [and] I knew one day I was going to be a dad."

And the third? For the answer, check out this exclusive TV Guide Magazine clip!

Love him! I wish Desperate Housewives had expanded his role more. He wasn't nearly used to his capabilities. Talented guy.

I wish David Vickers weren't such a joke anymore but I love Tuc and he seems to love playing David so I'll go with it.

He's very talented. Very happy for him in everything.

This isn't a knock on Ron Carlivati because I LOVE RC, but I think without him writing the character that David will be a little less goofy and basically a joke. He will still be funny and provide comic relief, but hopefully they will make him feel like a realistic person too. I can't wait to see how Thom Racina handles all of this because Ron Carlivati's OLTL was so funny, but also dark. I have a feeling I will love this version, but I also loved RC's.
