Brady encourages Nicole to talk to Eric about her feelings RIGHT when Eric finds out about Bristen's affair?!?! Damnit! My Ericole loving heart weeps... but this is soapy as hell and I like it! I hope Nicole doesn't let him think it was ongoing. Come on, girl. :shame:
I read the SOD article, it sounded more sad than soapy, and I still am waiting to see Eric long for because its just coming across as one sided. :shame: Maybe that'll change soon.

It is coming off as one sided. I have seen this storyline one too many to want to see it again. Nicole should find a man who will love her just as equally. What's happening now is not entertaining in any way. I am tired of watching Nicole 'tortured' as someone said by her unrequited love. She deserves better than this. Eric can remain a priest as far as I am concerned. He hasn't shown me that he has this deep love for her that makes his job so hard to do every time he sees her. I want to see someone to long for Nicole as we have seen her long for Brady, EJ and Eric and that man is currently not on the show. I'm not buying this subtext business. I don't want to read between the lines. If Eric really has feelings he has failed dismally showing them.

I'm more ok with Father Eric being oblivious to Nicole's feelings because he's a priest. So, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt vs other guys Nicole has had feelings for. While I don't see obvious feelings on his end, I don't expect him to since he just got here and only has eyes for God. Moreover, the last thing I want is for the writers to have them show me how much being a priest means to him and then see him rip off his collar within one year of his arrival. That being said, I do see his feelings for her surface from time to time. Nicole will have on hell of a time (no pun intended) trying to get him to see that what he feels for her is more than friendship if that is what she decides to do.

As for Nicole, I'm tired of the unrequited love shtick for her too. She's an amazing woman and deserves better. However, I'm too enamored by her budding relationship with Eric and the s/l with Brady and Kristen for it to bother me as much this time around. I guess I knew what I was in for since she is after a priest's heart.

If he has to be "made to see it" with a woman whom he has already had a relationship with and made love too several times, he is just not worth it.

What kind of drugs are tomsell taking that distorts logic so much that multiple men will crawl through broken glass for a chance to be shit on by an inferior child with the personality of a yeast infection, but they won't even give a second glance to a woman like Nicole?

I see the potential of Ericole, but I do agree with this. I'm tired of Nicole mooning over guys who seem to barely tolerate her and/or use her for sex. Still, I can see it from Eric's point of view: he gives into his attraction to Nicole, then gets de-frocked from a profession that he genuinely enjoys? Which I guess could fall into the "then he's probably not worth it" category.

On a personal level, I would totally prefer Nicole get a romance where someone enthusiastically pursues HER for a change.

They could easily show him being in love with her without compromising his Priest status.

He could have dreams about her for example. Not raunchy sex dreams, nice ones. There would be actual romance on this show, not just rutting. He could have a dream where he's walking hand-in-hand with her, or he's sitting someplace where he sees her across a room, she meets his gaze and gives him a beautiful smile.

Just short little snippits that Eric can dismiss when he wakes up, because he sees her all the time, it's natural he'd see a friend in a dream.

That way Eric is staying true and devoted to his vows, but the audience knows that unconsciosly, he is feeling torn. He is in love with this woman. She is far more to him than just a friend that he cares about.

ITA with all you said.

But since he does not know how she feels, I don't see the point of people telling him how she feels, and I hope she does not tell him how she feels because really it would serve no purpose. Nicole telling him how she feels will only serve one purpose and that is to give him the opportunity to tell her, that he does not feel the same way, and that he likes being a priest. If he acknowledges that she does have feelings for him, he would be uncomfortable around her because he knows he cannot return those feelings.

KC did say, that the Eric and Nicole relationship will not be going the way we think it will and I guess watching Eric's behaviour the last couple of days probably means that this is not developing into a love story the way we originally thought. It is just the usual Nicole falling for a guy and getting hurt or rejected by him. I cannot to see the point of them having everyone keep mentioning how Nicole feels about Eric, when the viewers knew from early days exactly how Nicole felt about Eric. If we did not get a clue from her fantasising about him, we would have clued on when she started talking to herself about her feelings for him.

So, already a pairing that I was becoming invested in, is now going down the drains. I have lost interest in conversations about how Nicole feels about Eric ages ago, and if they can't have Eric having feelings for Nicole because he is a priest, and they are going to have him remain a priest, why are they wasting our time with this story that is going nowhere. They could have used all this time they wasted over Eric to bring on someone new for Nicole who is not married to God or someone else, and have a slow developing romance for them but, I guess if TomSell's policy is that the Nicole character should never be happy, I guess bringing on a priest and Making her fall for him works just as well, as her chasing Daniel who wanted Jennifer. I will also never forget them killing her 8 months old baby.

@ Treasurecove: I agree. I like your scenarios. That's part of what makes watching DAYS so frustrating. The little things are gone. The subtle characterizations -- like the stuff you've described -- just aren't there anymore, in my opinion. Too many of the couples suffer from awkward s/l build-up, that's either too long, slow or just awful in execution. Particularly Ericole. The writers have had plenty of time to build an actual, slow-burn romance between them, and all we've really gotten so far is her making doe eyes at him while he remains mostly oblivious.

@ Dee-anne: I hope this isn't another s/l where Nicole gets her still-beating heart ripped out of her chest by an unworthy guy! :'( But... I do share your pessimism. DAYS has such an appalling record of creating routable couples lately. It's hard to support any one couple when partners keep getting shuffled around interchangeably, written inconsistently and almost guaranteed to come to a heartbreaking end.

Yeah, I'm not seeing any "torn" feelings from Eric either. No subtext from his end that some people think they see. From her? Yes. From him? No.

As sick as I am about people asking about Nicole's feelings for Eric, I'm looking forward to the Racole scenes. I love their friendship & it'll be nice to see them with people other than the priest & Kate. And if anyone genuinely cares about Nicole's feelings, it's Rafe. Practically everyone else has just thrown it in her face.

Just give my girl something good to do! I find myself wishing AZ would get a good meaty role on an awesome nighttime show like NCIS that has drama AND the opportunity to show her snark. Probably doesn't mesh with her schedule and family, though, more's the pity. I love Nicole because of AZ's acting, although there is SO much meat to the character that they could develop if they got their heads out of the Sami/Jen/Dr. Dan/EJ asses. I mean seriously. SO MUCH FRIGGIN' POTENTIAL!

I'm really looking forward to the Racole scenes too. It's been awhile!
I'd like for the writers to keep putting these two together as friends in a non-judgmental but honest way. I like the way they get each other and come across really caring about the other.
From where they started it's pretty cool this is where these two characters have landed. I like the mix.
