I doubt it has anything to do with baseball. The Nielsen method of measuring viewership is completely archaic at this point when we have so many options available to us as far as watching TV. People just don't watch it live anymore. (Also, I suspect that a good portion of the audience has started fleeing network TV in general in favor of cable and Netflix programs).
