Aww, back when Nick was one of the most rootable characters on the show. Stupid Melanie, did she have to ruin him, as well?

On a shallow note: man, Blake Berris has become quite a hottie since those days.

I think you are one of the bravest men I have ever known, and I am exquisitely proud of you.

First of all, Lysie your avatar is so beautiful!

I miss this Nick too, although I also like the creepy Nick. Maybe just because BB is awesome. :hail:

Aw, I miss the endearing geek that Nick used to be! I don't mind Crazy Nick, but I do mind that they went from 0 to 100 with no depth in between.

Whatever, Blake is amazing and brings depth to the character that can't be written. I could SEE the switch in Nick's brain flip yesterday. Brilliant actor.

I wouldn't mind Chelsea coming back to help even him out. Loved them. They screwed up when they killed that pairing.

I was so sad when they ruined Chelsea & Nick for that bland, emotionless Jett character. They deserved better. Those two had a great chemistry, were enjoyable to watch and felt unusual for soaps because he wasn't that typical extremely handsome stud type. I really enjoyed their beauty and the geek vibe. I could have been okay with the Melanie thing if she'd only been there for Chick angst, but that was back before she took over the entire show.

I miss this Nick and chick too. I understand that it has to be tempting to make him BSC though, because BB is SO good in that role. He's a good counterargument to the idea that you have to be classically pretty to play a character who does terrible things without having the entire audience turn on the character.

TBH, I have never liked any version of Nick, and I think GG and BB are very similar in their acting styles. I don't mind him being BSC but I think they did him a disservice with the way the character returned and interacted with so many classic characters only to have him basically completely marginalized once he got in Salem. Similar to how they took the time to "redeem" him in May but didn't bother to have him interact with family only to have him go off the rails again.

I think BB is a solid actor, certainly the best of his age group but I agree that the writing for Nick has really made it hard to keep up and to care much about what happens to him. Having him come back and be manipulative and stalkerish with Gabi and the baby was fine - but then why redeem him during the showdown at the cabin back in May and give him reasons for his reactions to things if they weren't going to continue on with that. It's so odd the way they just basically left him hanging for a while after that - and then brought him back for more of the same stalkerish and manipulative intentions with Gabi.

And just for the record, I'm rather enjoying the recent influx of Ericole avis.

I LOVE Nick and Chelsea! In my opinion, those two were the last really good young couple on Days. I can't think of anyone who comes close.

My favorite scene with those two was Nick and Chelsea dancing at Shawn and Belle's wedding. So cute!

I also agree. Nick's initial return to Salem involved Maggie, Hope, Julie, even his mom made an appearance. But slowly & surely, Nick had less scenes with Maggie & Hope and more scenes with Gabi, Will, Sonny, Sami, etc. And after Jensen kidnapping Nabi & shooting Will, we started to get even less of Nick as a whole. I honestly can't really recall anything Nick has been involved in between the Jensen stuff & sleeping with Gabi in Wilson's apartment. We have no explanation for why Nick snapped & became obsessed with Gabi after they had sex.
If Nick does survive past this week, I'd love to see him properly redeemed in the end - in some way or another.
Nick's craziness aside, I do love that we've seen Hope be supportive of Nick and his decision to leave Salem (albeit she has no idea about the Gabi part), feel sad that he's having such a difficult time now that he's out of prison, and even admitting that he has done wrong while still knowing he needs people in his corner. I just wish we'd seen more Hope/Nick throughout (& some Maggie/Nick thrown in only because it would be appropriate, though I'm not sure Maggie would've been able to take the time out of her Fetch pimping schedule to do so).

I'm going to bookmark this for the next time you question my tastes. BB has shown more emotions with his eyes on screen than GG has with his entire being. I don't think we even need the "under 30" qualifier when we're comparing BB's skills to the other actors on the show. I'm not sure anyone else could have done a better job with yesterday's scenes than he did.

At the time, I also wondered why the show didn't follow up with Nick after the revelation about the rapes, but now it makes sense to me. They wanted to make him sympathetic, or at least explain the reasons for his actions without redeeming him. I do wonder why the Hortons didn't do more to follow up with him, or stage an intervention of their own to try and get him to get the help he needed.

Actually, yesterday was REALLY good, imo. The kid-centered Thanksgiving Party was one of those old-school DAYS events that had barely a thing to do with advancing any storyline, yet provided some nice family focused fun moments that this show always did so well in the 80s. There were nice Kate/Sami team-up moments and Camila Banus did some of the best work (imo) of her career when she finally saw how off the deep end Nick had truly gotten. It was a Jeanne Marie Ford script.

I can't even believe I'm saying this, but Camilla Banus is nailing it again today. This storyline could be great for her career.

Ciara was sassy & anti-costume (again), TPTB remembered that Allie is a Horton, Theo made an appearance (though his powers of observation were a bit strange since he is supposed to have autism), Parker was a turkey (literally, lol). Even though there was technically some Dannifer "angst", it was nothing more than Dan & Jen both being at the party and there being this awkwardness simply because they were in the same room. Allie & Ciara wanted Dan & Parker to come to Thanksgiving dinner, not because they were trying to set Fetch up, but because they had been playing with Parker & thought it would be a nice thing to do.

Matt, I love how you didn't comment at all on Sonny or Will in your overview of yesterday's episode. lol.
