"If Sami can't find happiness with a Martian, then she can't find happiness with anyone."

Please post all interesting/spoilerish tweets in this thread. If a news article or new video is also tweeted (for example by SOD or NBC), it should probably go in its own thread, following our normal rules. This thread is for tweets, usually from someone on the list below, which give us information in some way about anything related to the show or upcoming storylines.

Please link each tweet and then set it off in italics, quotes or a quote box. To link a tweet, click "expand" and then click "details". That will give you the link to the tweet on its own page. If this is difficult (ie posting from a phone), please at least set off the tweet in quotation marks.

If anyone has names to add to this thread, please PM them to me rather than putting them in the thread. There are unfortunately a lot of fake accounts out there, and we want to verify each account is legit before putting it in this list.

I have entered the below list as a "Twitter List" under the DaytimeRoyalty twitter account. To access it, go to

http://twitter.com/DaytimeRoyalty/days-of-our-lives

Then click "Follow this list". It will then appear in your lists.

Thanks!

It is unlikely SOD will print any letter that bashes an actor/actress, producer or headwriter. Try to be reasonable and respectful with your criticism, but don't be afraid to express your point of view about the show and its storylines.

If the comment line inboxes are full, wait until they're emptied and call back later.

The PR team at Days wants us to let everyone know they check this board daily and they report our feedback to producers. They also check the comment line, so make sure to call it often and leave your feedback about the show!

I was just wondering, should we be worried that NBC didn't renew Days yet?
Usually the renewal is announced in November, right?

No, we were renewed this January 2013 for a year (September 2013-September 2014), so I expect the announcement will probably come within the next 6 or 7 weeks.

I have a funny feeling Days will get a 2-year renewal through September 2016 so they can celebrate the 50th anniversary in November 2015. After that, I'm not sure...

Thank you! And do you happen to know how much "advance" do the writers have on the taping? I mean, if they are taping late March / early April right now, are the breakdown writers already working on... June?

They get closer to 5 months ahead towards the end of the year. They should probably start taping May Sweeps within the next few weeks. And based on Ken Corday saying he read the final draft of the Christmas episode a month before it taped in August, I would guess the June dialogue scripts are being written this month, with the July breakdowns being written this month, so they would need to know about the renewal/cancellation pretty soon, since Gary Tomlin and Chris Whitesell would probably be mapping out the stuff that airs in August (what would be the final 4-5 weeks of the show) this coming January.

THIS IS JUST INSANE!!! They shouldn't be getting even farther ahead! They're almost half a year ahead. They need to not speed up in advance of the Christmas break & just let themselves fall back to 3.5 months ahead or so. There really can't possibly be any justification to filming THIS far in advance. If anything, it will hurt them because they can't redirect storylines if fans/viewers are unresponsive to a story or dislike it completely and are very vocal about their dislike. At this point, I'll take them being 3 months ahead, but pushing 5 months is just completely & utterly ridiculous and unnecessary!

I agree - DAYS will get a 2 year renewal next, to bring them to 50th Anniversary.

After than, things get murky and who knows what soap ratings will look like at that point.

It's show "business." NBC budgets out the weeks they work. NBC doesn't want to have to invest much money in a cancelled project, so they have it set to be finished taping in April or so, if they decide to cancel. ABC taped two episodes of Port Charles a day so they could speed up production and be totally done by the time its cancellation was announced.

That's very scary. If Days is cancelled in 2014, the writers won't be able to end the show properly, and we probably wouldn't get any returning characters or supercouple reunions. Plus, I imagine Sony would shop Days around somewhere else, but I doubt it would end up online after the Prospect Park fiasco.

If they insist on having this crazy schedule, they should have more dark weeks. I can "understand" being three months ahead, but not where they are.

I really don't understand why they didn't take all this month off...they'd STILL be 3 months ahead.

They already have 12 dark weeks. Every week you take away is another week's pay cut for all the crew, who make much less than the actors.

12?!? I want to be an actress on Days. I can't act, but that won't matter to the show.
