Didn't AS celebrate her 20th anniversary this year? Means AS has been in the top rankings every year she's been on Days. (i don't even know what emoticon would properly show my feelings about this - but it's definitely not a positive one.)

moving this from Jason's other newly-created thread, since it fits more appropriately here:
It's great that no one was in more than 70% of the episodes. However, there's almost a 10 episode gap between Ali (#1) & Shawn (#2) - which is about the same gap as last year, except that #2 was James. There are a few more people who reached triple digits in terms of episodes in the year, but most of those 100+ people had 130, 140, or 150 episodes. Last year, only 5 people had more than 125 episodes. This year, 11 people did. That basically means that the focus of the year has been on this almost dozen characters, and anyone else became a pop-up/occasional support. I'd actually rather have a more even distribution of characters. There are so many characters on the show (including quite a fair number that this past year got maybe 1/3 of the airtime of the top 11) that it doesn't make sense to focus on the same small group all year long. Yes, I know that the show must always revolve around Sami (& EJ by extension) above anyone else :rolleyes: , but a break from constant/consistent focus on Fetch & WilSon would be nice. (Bristen is a mute point since Eileen left the show, and you can't really put Ericole as a "focus couple" since they haven't really been consistently in each other's orbits and they've been involved in separate stories, and Eric was a key player in Kristen's plotting against Marlena.) I have no explanations for all the Gabi & Abby from this past year, other than Camilla's episode total skyrocketing thanks to Gabi's almost constant presence (along with the other players) the last 2 months regarding Nick's plans for NYC & murder.

She celebrated her 20th anniversary in January, so this was actually her 21st year on the show. She did not make the list in 2001.
She placed 18th in 2001:
1. Kirsten Storms (Belle Black) 190
2. Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe Lane) 189
3. Jay Johnson (Philip Kiriakis) 167
4. Jason Cook (Shawn Brady) 164
5. Kyle Lowder (Brady Black) 148
6. Kristian Alfonso (Hope Brady-136/Gina Von Amberg-6) 136
7. Renee Jones (Lexie Carver) 133
8. Drake Hogestyn (John Black) 126
9. Melissa Reeves (Jennifer Horton) 117
10. Farah Fath (Mimi Lockhart) 114
11. Arianne Zuker (Nicole Walker) 111
12. Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) 104
13. Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans Black) 103
14. Matthew Ashford (Jack Deveraux) 100
15. John Aniston (Victor Kiriakis) 99
16. Julianne Morris (Greta Von Amberg) 94
17. Matt Cedeno (Brandon Walker) 93
18. Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) 92
*. Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) 92

||I realize that technically one thing isn't related to another but it's ridiculous that Ali is that high with them working around her schedule.|
|Supergirlx2||Jan 1 2014, 06:18 PM Post #10|
oh no! how could TPTB let that happen? ;)
it's kinda sad that she didn't even miss the top 15 either time she went on maternity leave.
the fact that she's pretty much been at the top for her entire run should be reason enough to take a break from her. every other character has gotten a break - except her! (i guess her 2001 numbers would be her "break" - can TPTB do that again?)
|Lucky||Jan 1 2014, 06:21 PM Post #11|
Ah, those figures make me nostalgic. The teen scene, particular Kirsten Storms' Belle, is what got me into this show in the first place.

(I hope 2014 will look better and I'll get a reason to tune in)

||Jason, thank you for posting. It always pleasantly surprises me what a strong cast Days has now. The script writing staff includes so many former head writers - amazing. Thank you for your all your work on behalf of Days fans.|

Hmm, which two couples do you think TomSell is most invested in? Any takers?
|lysie||Jan 1 2014, 11:19 PM Post #15|
Lol. I feel exactly the opposite about the cast. I remember 10 years ago though being worried about losing even one person during the SSK because I liked them all. Now, I long for a cast purge. One that will either cut out my remaining investments for one that will eliminate basically the entire top 15.
|SummerAngel||Jan 1 2014, 11:48 PM Post #16|
|Honestly, why is Ali Sweeney getting so many episodes? She's lacklustre and there's nothing hat great about her acting or the character of Sami. She's not even that great of a host on the biggest loser. I think tptb would get more viewers if Jennifer and Sami's character got less significant airtime this year. It's just annoying and boring. I'd much rather watch interesting women like hope, Nicole, Kristen, kayla, Adrienne, and Kate. Theresa is great too. Ali's days are overs. There is a reason she's never been nominated or won an Emmy. She's overhyped and shoved down our throats.|

Thanks Jason. Love your site. Hogan Sheffer recently moved from New York to California to be closer to the "Days" studios in Burbank? That's interesting.

Is that an old news item you are referring to on my site? I remember typing that up when he first joined the show many years ago. But that's not a recent item, it's from when he first joined the show.

Thanks for clearing that up. :)
