||good total ratings for Days, but those demo's aren't great.|
|SunAngel||Jan 9 2014, 10:46 AM Post #3|
Those demos are fine when you consider that all soaps had a bad week there. Besides, B&B and Y&R are looking in much worse shape.
I find myself rooting for Days and GH to do well and for Y&R/B&B to tank. The first two have been great this year and I really want them rewarded for it. The CBS soaps are unwatchable to me and need major overhauls to justify peeking at them again, and for them to pull their finger out and stop being so lazy, they need to feel the heat.

Killing myself slowly
DAYS had losses in 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 for Women viewers, yet GAINED over 300K viewers...looks like the men, teens and women over 55+ liked what they saw this week.
I have never seen a show gain so many viewers in one week, but not see any of those additions come from the 3 major demographic groupings.

I was thinking the same thing. These numbers are *weird*. A jump like that, yet drops in most demos? Things like that make me question Nielsens methodology. It'll be interesting to see the following weeks' numbers with the continued holiday break for most, one preemption, as well as a huge snowstorm in the northeast.

I agree with Mitch, these numbers seem kinda made up. Its really just odd, but I'm sure its happened before. I put zero stock into numbers when there are episodes that don't count, but Thursday and Friday look nice for DAYS.
I also find myself cheering for DAYS and GH to do really well in the ratings and hope Y&R tanks. I'm indifferent to B&B because I've never watched it, but I don't want them to tank.

If Y&R tanks, B&B tanks with it. They totally depend on their time slot after Y&R for viewership.

||I really hope DAYS does well. 2014 will be interesting for this soap!|

Exactly....I am a firm believer that B&B ratings are really Y&R viewers who have just left the TV on all these years after Y&R is over. ;)
Y&R has benefited over the years from having almost NO soap competition...while almost every other show has faced competition from 2 other network soaps in their timeslot.

||Not surprised by the GH numbers because their Christmas episode was horrible along with the NY show. They both put me to sleep.|

||I'd love to hear more from MAB about the 'problematic story telling', Not that Y&R doesn't have problems but i find it funny that the shows ratings increased so drastically after she left. Lol|

||Its not necessarily true that Y&R has benefited from its time slot and that BB is dependent on Y&R. In a lot of the east coast markets Y&R is on around 4 PM and BB is on around 12:30. In the Midwest YR is on at 11 AM and BB is on at 12:30.|
