Quoting limited to 4 levels deep50 Shades
Perhaps a lot of viewers are like me.I have not read Fifty Shades but have seen references to it and made assumptions as to what is actually in the book based on the comments of others.Another poster cleared up some content for me by giving me the names of the characters and their ages because I assumed the male character was early to mid thirties and the female character early twenties. If EJ/Abby is not Fifty Shades,it does not bother me.I like what I am seeing on my screen even if its not Fifty Shades.
Older more worldly man/younger naive virginal woman is a romance novel and, once upon a time, a soap staple. To me, outside of the JnJ similarities, EJ and Abby are simply of that type. The chemistry and Days family history is what gives them their own unique flavor.
What Jack and Jen similarities, not seeing it...they had built a relationship. This had the makings of a smut story...people knew each other not at all, had a few interactions, in a cabin for a few minutes talking, suddenly it becomes sexual, and their banging... nope not buying Jack n Jen story ...this was purely to titillates the audience...epic disgusting for many. I know they hadn't really made a focus of it but Ej and Abby have had more than a few interactions over the years...sure not enough to actually build a true friendship, relationship from but they I would categorize them as 'friends'...they even became much closer when Chad and Abby were dating...so yeah, it was there, should they have done more of it last year and not just waited 2 weeks before the romp to show Ej and Abby friendly times? Sure...but that doesn't negate that they did have more than 2 scenes between them.
Going back to the J&J talk...some of us are seeing similarities....obviously the entire story isn't the same, but the similarities are there. Jen never expected to fall for Jack. He was imperfect, an awful person, who had raped someone he claimed to love and went out of his way early on to make people's lives a living hell. He was the son of a bad villain, and that was what everyone measured him as and nothing else. He wasn't his own person, he was Harper's son. Jen was innocent, virginal and not too experienced in love....she had her crushes but never anything substantial until she met Jack. She made him believe that someone as good as her could fall for him, there was nothing wrong with that because she ended up believing in him, while no one could/would. The only thing I need Ej now to do is start his period of intense self loathing...and he's won me over....hell has certainly frozen ya'll if that happens.

Yeah, I don't get the J&J comparisons at all, other than the surface stuff of he's older/she's younger, he's a "bad" man/she's a good "girl." The reason I loved J&J was their story, not the surface stuff. They built their relationship for a year before they really became a couple. Jack loved her deeply, so much so that he tried to stay away from her. Jen genuinely helped him redeem himself. I get how this COULD be a J&J story if they decide to tell it. But as of now, there's nothing J&J about the actual story. J&J was about love and redemption. EJ & Abby are about sex and cheating.

Loved Jack and Jen, I feel it hasn't been in the writing to compare what happened in the cabin to their romantic story... but I'm not comparing what happened in the cabin...I'm seeing similarities in the characters and who they are and what they could be. I'm not saying that J&J began as an affair, because it didn't...I'm saying that I see similarities in the stories and the potential is there to take this and actually make it a love story and not just swing it and stop it at an affair.

I donīt think Ejabby is a copy of Ejami I think itīs nice with a fresh start without the bagage that Ejami has, but I also find intriguing with EJ seeing a younger woman and having hot sex with her. The age difference makes it different to me I havenīt really know to much what 50 shades of grey is all about Iīm not interest in bondage, but Iīm interest in a hot affair that has a lot of passion and sex, and they characters struggling to resist the passion. That itīs a secret affair also makes it different and interesting. I do think itīs a shame that it comes at the expense of Ejami but I donīt have the energy to be angry about Ejami anymore. I also saw this coming so I wasnīt suprise but had time to prepair for it, and since I really like EJabby they are hot together I choose to focus on the good side of this storyline. I also donīt think Ejabby gonna have fights and then sex like Ejami maybe once but I donīt see them continue that route. There's no fresh start with Ejabby. Ej has children and is directly tied to the murder of her cousin that Abby has been so shamed into forgetting about. Not to mention, it's going to come out somehow that Ej only slept with her to shut her up but started to develop feeeeeellings for her.

Well, I hate it, but it almost seems like that's what the writers were going for; they want people to love and hate it.
The 50 Shades things confuses me though, cause I don't see that at all. I didn't see it with Ejami either.
Sigh. It could have been so much better with Elope.
Don't give up hope on Elope. No one thought EJabby would actually happen & it did, so who knows. Maybe one day Elope will happen too.
Unfortunately, Hope is way too smart to sleep with EJ. She'd have to have amnesia before she'd ever tap that. Hope wants to tap that. According to Abby, what woman in her right mind wouldn't?

It's really classic soap if you think about it.

It's the same reason why women marry guys in prison, it's a popular fantasy to think one's love is salvation. I say coral sex offenders together.

These are things Abby should remember if she can't remember the numerous things he's done to the rest of Salem.

And even though he didn't actually murder Nick, he did try to murder her aunt and uncle and kidnap her cousin. Not that I really care, but if the writers wanted EJ to have a baggage-free relationship, he'd need to date Jordan or Sheryl. He'd also need to be self-loathing before he could be redeemed through love. Oh and we shouldn't have already seen another side of him in every other relationship...

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
Unfortunately, Hope is way too smart to sleep with EJ. She'd have to have amnesia before she'd ever tap that.
Hope wants to tap that. According to Abby, what woman in her right mind wouldn't?
Oh she wants to. She's just not dumb enough to actually do it. Yeah...the only way I see that happening is if she starts up with the sleep aids again.
But I'd go for a Nighttime ELope story over the Toddler and Dimera any day. :$

Quoting limited to 4 levels deep50 Shades
I'm guessing a rapist like Jack and Ej are redeemed through the purity of Jen and Abby.
more like the rapists like Jack and Ej are redeemed through the love of a woman who they haven't directly targeted to hurt, and even knowing their past the young, innocent and pure females manage to see a side of them that others haven't seen. It's really classic soap if you think about it.
I know. A lot of people really like that idea of rapists paired with someone other than their victim. It's the same reason why women marry guys in prison, it's a popular fantasy to think one's love is salvation. I say coral sex offenders together. Well, it's either be put with someone he hasn't raped, be alone, or kill of the character if he can't be paired. So I guess of the three choices, being put with the someone he, the rapist, hasn't raped is the best case scenario.

Honestly, if the show hadn't made me dislike Abby so much during her whole run I wouldn't mind this shyte as much, but I think she is a pretentious, do-gooding ninny. While I mostly liked the turn she made during the Austin thing, it was complete WTF, and now no one remembers it (other than the gratuitous mention with JJ the other day), her extreme actions had no base and no one wanted to explain it. She then became a viginal ninny and now she's a vixen? Give me a break.
