It must have been hidden. I didn't see any widespread speculation until she announced. Edited by Aliaron, Jan 25 2014, 09:24 PM.

It wasn't hidden, but AS's announcement did kick it into high gear. But the rumors about James have been around at least since November. Because of those rumors, that was initially what I had planned to ask James about at Day of Days before we got cut short. |

People always speculate and get worried about James staying or leaving 6months before his contract, like clockwork. |

To be fair, I'm in and out of alot. James Scott is the last actor I'd worry about leaving Days. Where is he going to get it this good anywhere else? He's not like Alison Sweeney who had to earn her spot through 20 years of loyalty to nbc and days. He was handed the gold spoon he eats from and I doubt he's going to let it up. And I don't for a second believe he wants to quit acting. That's pure BS he's speaking. Unless we hear that he pulled a Muhney he's not leaving. |

You know, it's also possible that James Scott is trying to land some movie or guest-starring primetime roles. That would explain new headshots without necessarily meaning that he's leaving. If that's the case, it's about time he's branched out a bit. For the past almost 8 years, Days is all he's done. |

I certainly do not want James to go - esp. with this Ejabby story heating up and the very real prospect of EJ being written in to a romantic storyline with Abby after Ali leaves. That said, I would argue that the last "prince of the kingdom" on this show was Drake Hogestyn. And James has been around long enough to see what happens to an aging vet on this show - especially Drake, who held James' role from the late 80s through the early 2000's when James took over. Cynically, it would not be the smartest decision for him to say, in all honesty. |

Both are Swimming Wings Productions, so Cannes, I guess? Idk, those short storyline synopses didn't sound compelling to me but maybe the end products will be. Edited by thepadange, Jan 26 2014, 04:18 AM.

Regarding James Scott. They are having negotiations. If they reach aggreement, he'll stay, if don't, he'll leave. It's as simple as that, IMO. The only one who knows what JS is thinking is JS. |

I wouldn't mind seeing him land some other roles in primetime or movies. If thats what he is trying to do - great for him. Besides he can do other roles and still work on DOOL - I believe that is part of his current contract. Having that said, of course I would personally not want to see him leave DOOL at the moment. Mainly because I enjoy his character and his acting. I will enjoy watching EJ in stories as long as I can. thepadange - Of course! =) Edited by DayDreamer, Jan 26 2014, 06:51 AM.

Head shots aren't indicative of anything. At the time JS got them done Days' future was still in question. Better to be prepared than not. For the record, I don't think he's going anywhere. |

JS in the 20 something scene isn't that big of a deal. Not that big of a difference between the age groups once a character is in their mid 20s. Abby, Will, Sonny, Nick, etc aren't teenagers anymore. EJ and Abby seem to be a very popular story so I don't think it's fair to assume JS wouldn't be happy being involved in stories with that age group. He loved working with Chandler and wanted to work with him more. And the Abby story is the best story IMO that's he's had in such a long time. I think it could even the opposite where JS might like being involved in a a new and refreshing story and working with different characters. A lot of actors like to mix it up with the entire cast. Gotta admire the man for playing it close to the vest. I know some ardent EJ fans have mentioned that he would be perfectly fine with leaving acting as well. But like someone else said, only JS knows, if even HE knows. I just hope whatever decision he makes, he does it for himself, and I tend to think he will. He seems to be someone who isn't going to swayed by what someone else wants if it doesn't fit with his needs and wishes. He also seems to be someone who doesn't use acting to fulfill some self-affirming need to stroke his own ego or insecurities. If so, I admire that! |

I hope James stays, if ONLY to keep the show from becoming more focused on Dr. Douche. |

I don't mind Peter making a come back, at least he was more Dimera than EJ's been lately. |

Unless we hear about a casting call that fits EJ's description......not to re-cast EJ but for someone to fill that type of roll when JS does leave......I think he's staying. And if Days was smart, they'd be preparing for the day when he does want to move on and bring on some new male DiMera's in EJ's age group. Wasn't Stefano the seventh son of the seventh son? EJ should have a lot of handsome, sexy cousins out there and I don't see why some of them couldn't find there way to Salem. |

The positive realization I've had about all this JS speculation is that I don't really care one way or the other. The writing on this show was so bad from 2010-2012 that JS's pretty face and EJ being at least semi-interesting was one of the very few things that kept me watching. But even then, I still had long periods where I tuned out. But since the show got so much better in 2013, my enjoyment doesn't hinge nearly as much on JS and EJ as it used to. If he goes, fine. If he stays, fine. As long as the show stays as good as it has been for the last 13 months, I'll keep watching. |

Agreed. I became very invested in a handful of couples/characters because the quality of the show was all over the place. Now that it's 99% good again, it's easy to really enjoy it as an ensemble show instead of latching on to a few characters played by actors who were able to overcome the bad writing. |

I agree, they should add more DiMera's - in EJs age range. Someone that EJ could perhaps be a rival with while he is still on the show. Someone that can take over if James (EJ) decides to leave eventually (many years ahead, LOL). The DiMera family is thin as it is already with Chad gone. |

I'd love for James to stay because (a) the show needs proper villains & (b) to see what EJ is like when he isn't in Sami's orbit and there isn't an option for sticking him back in it in 2 months. |

While I doubt I would be interested in keep watching the show if JS were to leave maybe I would if they brought in a new Dimera and he was played by a good actor, and him being a real Dimera. I never saw Peter though. |
