But that would mean she wouldn't be able to return after a few years, right? I want her to return like Marlena did, assuming Days is still on then. |

I am shocked by this news, wow! Having said that It's about damn time. Ali I don't think would leave the show without something else planned. You can't be a workaholic and just flip the switch. She has something for 2015 I bet. DAYS will be fine without Same Brady. What I don't get is announcing this so far in advance except to make this all about her. If she does film all year as she says that's a year and a half until she stops airing. That's just weird. |

I wish this thread were about James Scott's departure instead. That said, I'm not buying into the doom and gloom. I'm not worried about Alison Sweeney leaving the show -- as I have always maintained, this show should be watched for its entire cast, not just one person, couple, or storyline. And I have no doubt that Days will be renewed, so I'm not worried about that, either. There's no way that NBC will cancel this show after the creative resurgence and Emmy win that it enjoyed last year (and they have a very good chance of repeating that win if they play their cards right), IMO. My main concern is that this is going to potentially (likely) cheat us out of some storylines that have been years in the making -- Johnny and Allie finding out the circumstances surrounding their respective conceptions and Sydney finding out how her father used her as a pawn to make her mother suffer. Sure, those storylines can still happen eventually, but there will now always be the possibility that if they do, Sami won't be around to play a very important beat of them. I, for one, have been looking forward to E.J.'s kids going ballistic on him for his actions and disowning him for years. Of course, this would be a small price to pay -- one that I would be completely fine with -- if the writers ultimately decided to also get rid of James Scott when Alison left the show, leaving Marlena and John to finish raising Sami's children together. Then the kids could just learn about (and rightfully hate their father for) all of E.J.'s misdeeds years from now and Marlena could help them get through it. I will say that I find it humorous that one of the only times that she has said anything about Days on Ellen's show is when she announces that she is going to be leaving Days. |

Me too!! "Days" would become just the 4th scripted show (and the first NBC show) in American TV history to hit the 50-year mark, joining "Guiding Light", "As the World Turns" and "General Hospital." It will take quite awhile, however, for Days and GH to reach Guiding Light's overall 72 years on the air (radio & TV, 1937-2009). Edited by Jason47, Jan 21 2014, 03:40 AM.

If they can have a successful recast of Ridge, then I believe anyone can be recast. |

Ron Moss didn't exactly set the bar high tho. But then again neither did Alison Sweeney, so maybe you're right. :blulaugh: Edited by Panda Panda, Jan 21 2014, 03:57 AM.

NBC may consider her the face of Days, but for most long time fans, Deidre is THE face of Days! |

I Never thought it would be possible! Am I asleep and having a great dream? I mean it is 2 AM........... All I can say is this not so over zealous and religious fan says PRAISE THE LORD!!!! Alison, do not let the door hit you. Alison,, you were never loved by the fans the way they loved Deidre Hall and Susan Hayes, EVER. You never made that iconic status that those classy ladies ascended to, and you never even came close. The execs that blow smoke up your ass may say it was your "era". That may be true, but that's because they shoved you down our throats, and did the ratings ever reach the top tier consistently since they made you the "Lead" instead of the B status villain you were created to be by the legendary James Reilly? HELL NO! Did Days reach top tier when the two true leading Ladies, Deidre and Susan, had their time as focus of the shows drama and angst? ABSOLUTELY! That proves one thing....you may have had screen time, but your forced and annoying time at the top as leading lady pales in comparison to the real deal, and about 87% (an educated, and generous to Alison guess) of long time fans are rejoicing at a future that does not include huffing, pouting, scrunchy face, stomping, and cardboard lines you would expect to hear in a middle school drama for charity. Free at Last! I never thought it would happen. BTW: EXECS feature Dee, Kristian, and Susan more and more.......and make your young lead Ariana Zucker. Her acting has passion, depth, and integrity. She has the chops to take on a real story and tare it up. We know in the endgame it's Ericole, and that would make her a Brady by marriage, It's a natural choice, and Ariana's acting actually can draw a nomination. I know there has to be a young leading actress, so gradually shift the focus to Nicole and Eric. Go ahead after some angst and turmoil and allow them to marry so she can be a member of one of the shows two leading families. NICOLE BRADY.....That rings a much better tone to this fan than Sami Brady. IMPORTANT NOTE AND A MUST READ KEN CORDAY, GREG MENG, GARY TOMLIN, LORRAINE BRODERICK, and CHRIS WHITESELL!!!!!! Kill her off dramatically to jump the ratings in the middle of some very good stories. The writing is actually showing details and skill right now. Do what William Bell, Sheri Anderson, Gloria Monty, and James E Reilly understood was the key to ratings success. Make Sami's death a Multiple episode, suspense filled events and non stop action that will keep viewers that do not watch regularly tuned in for a while, and have other stories airing with emotional depth and momentum catching fire with brilliant scenes during the "historic" Sami killing string of episodes. It's the soap art that has made shows soar even after events like a very well written and dramatic death of a lead. ONE MORE THING NBC, SONY, CORDAY, AND COMPANY...............THIS WILL NOT SINK THE RATINGS IN THE LEAST! YOU OVER-INVESTED IN AN ILLUSION!!!! |

Now i understand why they changed the EJ thing and had him look at another woman when with Sami - setting the scene for another love interest after Sami is gone. :( I would have loved a real epic love story style ending for when Sami leaves just for the last of us EJami fans so we have something to remember... I for one will no longer watch dool once Ejami ends forever. |

Omg! I can't believe it! Are you people pulling my leg? Never thought this day would come! :applause: In all honesty, I never wished for AS to leave the show for good. I just wished for like a 6 month break, so eventually, I'll probably miss her. She was one of my favorite characters for a good 15 years. So IF they killed her off, I'm sure it would be a good SL, but I'm kinda hoping she goes to be with her REAL TRUE LOVE Brandon Walker. :wub2: Come on Days, make it happen! I don't think Matt Cedeno is doing anything at the moment. |

When I sleep, when i get up in the middle of the night I have a bad habbit of checking the net... I had to check here again to make sure I wasn't dreaming the first time :P I KNOW we're probably not that lucky, but I'm hoping maaaybe with her gone, Marlena, John, Hope, ect will get storylines. I know the chances of that but it would be nice. People are wondering why she announced this so early... im kinda wondering if she figures there will be a "Fan outcry" and make NBC give her more money. ...more like fan outJOY Alison. :P I don't hate Sami, but I don't like who she's become, and the fact shes in every story!! |

Unless Bryan, James or Galen are also planning on leaving Days then Sami can't get a happy ending with any of their characters. |

My brain is accepting that there will be no more Sami Brady, but I cant imagine EJ with Abigail! Maybe its because of the characters (EJ/Sami) professing their love for one another just recently over and over, and now this. I do wish AS the very best, but it is going to be strange in Salem without her for a while! Do hope that Nicole gets more screen time now, and hopes EJ stays in Salem. |

Sami should go out like the Seinfeld gang - put her on trial with the victims of all her crimes and schemes from the 20+ years as character witnesses.... then send her off to the slammer! :moon: |

Knowing how the vocal majority here feels about Sami, I fully expect to see animated "countdown to Alison Sweeney's departure" avatars cropping up as early as tomorrow. Meanwhile, while I never visit the soapcentral.com message boards, I'm guessing that site's vocal majority is beside themselves with grief, since they used to love Sami and E.J. there and I doubt that things have changed that much over the years. |
