Okay, I'm just going to go ahead and say it. Since Sami's leaving, can we PLEASE bring back Belle or Carrie? Their absences are GLARING and I need Marlena to have a daughter in Salem!
Except, who says Marlena is staying? I don't think they'll keep her on much longer since they don't write any storylines for her. Plus I'm sure she's expensive. Not to mention the past evidence of how she has been treated on this show.
Marlena better be staying. I'd be more pissed if she was leaving. She also needs good front-burner stories of her own. And bring back Belle!

I'm not unhappy that Sami is leaving, but make no mistake: This has nothing to do with EJ and Abby. That pairing is gross and disgusting and never should have happened with the characters being true to their characters.

Also, that pairing had nothing to do with AS leaving. Since she know announced, it means she's probably announced it to her execs probably only last week, or most earliest around New Years. EJ and Abby began on New Years, which means it has been filmed in August, which means it has been scripted around June, which means the initial storyline plans have been made last spring. And there is no way TPTB would have known about AS's departure that early. And even if she had said then that she is "likely to leave in a timespan of the next two years", I don't think they can think about it in the way that they would need to write it into the script. The writers can't wait and see for two years whether someone might leave at some percentages chance.
Ej and Sami would not gave happened if Sami written true to her character
Ej and Abby have lot potential Horton and dimera the history lot story.while Cameron was jerk that dump Abby she did not sleep with him and Abby is Chad default because Melanie dump him so I do not feel bad on Chad or Cameron.and ej history is pairing with Abby will be less nasty than his other pairing

weren't the difficult negotiations the year before? IMHO he'd be stupid to leave now when the show has already started to give him other options for stories into the future....the show can really see what they want for Ej and turn him back into a villain, which is what James has said he enjoys playing the most. He'd be out of Sami's shadow too. I think it's the perfect opportunity to stay for James.
You're right it was the year before but I still get the feeling he isn't interested in EJ's path. Honestly I don't think he has really liked his character in awhile. He loves Sween so I'm sure he was happy to finally work in a 'happy' story with her but I just haven't felt that he really gives a shyte in a very long time.
IDK, he sort of confuses me at times with what he says. He's said many times he loves to play the darker EJ...he thrives in it and it's fun for him. If that's the case, then this is the perfect opportunity for him to play that role. He betrays Sami in the worse possible way, she leaves him and before he has a chance to make it up to her, she dies in some mysterious tragic way. He can't cope and goes back and embraces his dark side....I think that they will focus on every one of her men's reaction to her death...Ej can go full blown dark side again, Lucas can drink himself into oblivion, and Rafe can go back to working at the Police Station full force to uncover who killed Sami Brady....lol
I definitely think he likes the 'dark side' but Days has proven that they don't know how to write his dark character in any kind of romantic partnership which doesn't force the character to be a 'better man' in someway. Even this thing with Abby can go no where if he remains the villain.

My other problem with EJ being dark (or Sami for that matter) is that the show no longer has rivals for these villains. there is no reason for EJ to be dark because he has no need to be scheming or conniving or nasty manipulative. The Kiriaki are gone, Kate is toothless, they write EJ rivaling Stefano one minute then his bestie the next....the writing doesn't sustain the kind of villain that EJ is/used to be/could be.

This show doesn't need Sami to survive. It did fine last week with her gone.

I'm not worried about her departure. I think the show will do fine. I'm not too sad to see her leave either. I've grown so tired of the character of Sami and it will be nice to have a break from her. If this happened 10 years ago when Sami was still a great character then I would be sad.

Having said that, the show really needs to bring back Belle or Carrie. Marlena needs a daughter/or both in Salem. I love Carrie more, but I think Belle would probably fit better since she's still in the late 20s early 30s group.

I'll miss Sami. She annoyed me at times over the years and this might be an ensemble show, but she has always been a big part of the Days that I grew up with and it's not going to be the same show without her. That said, although this is completely unexpected, I'm not really that upset that AS is going. Wish her the best and hope she's not jumping ship because she knows something the fans don't. I don't want Sami to die, though. I want her to finally get her perfect wedding and happy ending.
Really? I kinda want Sami, Johnny and Sydney to die in a car crash so EJ can go bat shit crazy because he lost his family.
NO!! That would mean JS has to cry.

NO. NO. NO.

The best way for story to Sami consider to dead and than have story of ej and Lucas fighting on kids
There more story if Sami will be gone only

Lucas and EJ canīt fight over the kids because EJ doesnīt have any rights to Allie, and Lucas doesnīt have any rights to Johnny and Sydney.

What she do with the kids will she kidnap from their fathers and they will never see them again

Sami kids are important to the show so I donīt see her leaving with them (unless Ejami were to leave together) they will have to kill her off or recast her. Maybe she could leave and just take Sydney with her if Allie and Johnny is sorased and old enough to decide that they want to stay with their fathers.
Well if Sami leaves it in her Will that she wants Lucas to raise all the kids then heck yeah they can fight for the kids...seriously....it's that easy.

Then I hope it doesnīt say that in the will because I found custody battles boring.

I think JS was unhappy with the show spring 2011 with awful Rafe2 storyline but the writing has been a lot better for EJ since then. He hasnīt been that dark but JS said in an interview this summer than EJ couldnīt be a complete bastard or no woman would want him but that he enjoyed playing a more grey EJ too (I donīt remember how he worded it). Maybe itīs possibe to pair him with Abby and have him grey without going to dark or to good.

In 2007 I would have been devastated by her leaving. Now I just feel a little sad, but mostly relieved because he character I once loved and adored is an unregonizable shell of her former self. I don't really care how they write her out, only that they do actually write her out (no more Bo type exits please). I've watched the show since before Samantha Gene Brady was born so I know very well that it can thrive without her.

Holy Fucking Shit....I never thought I would see this day come to pass.

I thought I would be over the moon, but I'm kind of sad and am VERY worried about DAYS renewal now!
The renewal of this show is not dependant on one person, and certainly not on AS. This is an ensemble show and has gone through many, many exits far more important than this one, and yet survived. That's not the way soaps and businesses work these days anyway. Once upon a time they would have pulled the plug on Dallas without J.R. This isn't the case anymore. On the new Dallas, J.R. died and the show continued on and is thriving. Y&R has lost and is losing some of it's most major and central characters, yet that show (no matter how shitty is actually is) is going on, their ratings are rising (inexplicably) and the show was just renewed to 2017.
The difference being Y&R has been #1 for 25 years and DAYS is currently last in the ratings and has been at the bottom for sometime (despite being way up over the last 2 years currently).

Y&R has nearly 3 more million viewers than DAYS...if DAYS was in Y&R's spot ratings wise, I would not be worried IN THE LEAST about this exit.

But lack of renewal news, timed with AS announcing she is leaving...ITS FISHY and anyone who thinks that AS has not been running this damn show and given extreme special treatment by NBC over the last 5 years is nuts.

Of COURSE this show can go on without Sweeney....we the fans KNOW this to be true...but if I was a betting man I would bet the house NBC would not whole heartedly agree wit that. We can NEVER overestimate their support of this show...the network has been the most cancellation happy network in daytime.

Soaps have turned a corner, but I am still weary....I am not 100% sold that NBC fully supports this shows survival.

And the clock is ticking on renewal announcement...it is already 2 weeks behind last years announcement.

I wish her well, but I'm sure the show will be more than fine without her. It will be nice to not have the show revolve around Sami. AS is not a lead actress and this will hopefully open up opportunities for others like Ari Zucker, who is more than up to the task!

I am a little nervous that we haven't heard about the renewal, but I'm gonna keep a positive attitude. :)

I am also wondering why everyone seems certain NBC will see this show to its 50th anniversary....I know it is only 2 years away...but if the show is losing money for NBC, no way in hell they just give it a pass for 2 years to get it to 50.

Has NBC ever commented about getting it to 50? Or are we all just assuming NBC will be that nice :) (and if that is the case...you know what they say about assuming!)

Alison Sweeney leaving 'Days of Our Lives,' says Sami Brady 'probably deserves' 'Breaking Bad'-style ending

After 21 years playing the sometimes-villainous, sometimes-heroic Sami Brady on "Days of Our Lives," "Biggest Loser" host Alison Sweeney tells "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that it's time to say goodbye.

"I decided that it's going to be my last year with the show," says Sweeney. " ... I've been on 'Days of Our Lives' since I was 16 years old and I have never had more than a two-week vacation in that whole time. I mean, it's so awesome. I love Sami, I love Salem, I love my job, I love daytime, I love the fans, I love everything about it."

"[But] my daughter just turned five and my son is nine and I just want to be with them and enjoy my last year," Sweeney continues. "I'm going to be on 'Days' all this year. ... We don't have a specific time yet [for when I'm leaving], but I'm going to be on all this year and we'll see what happens."

As for the ending, Sweeney says that while she thinks it would be awesome to have "some kind of happy ending," she also thinks Sami "probably deserves some sort of very twisted, like 'Breaking Bad' ending."

"Well, she's caused a lot of people a lot of problems," says Sweeney. " ... Sami has certainly caused her fair share of drama over the last 21 years."

How do you think Sami should be sent off, "Days of Our Lives" fans?

Has anyone considered that Days breakneck taping schedule is burning out the talent and causing them to leave? Eileen Davidson hinted at it. Chandler Massey complained he didn't have time to finish school and experience a normal life. Casey Diedrick and Camila Banus wanted to explore other career options. Let's be honest, being on DAYS lately does NOT give the cast much flexibility.

I wouldn't be surprised if Alison is simply burned out and frustrated.
Actually, "Days" tapes much less than they used to overall, so actors actually have more flexibility nowadays. Prior to 2009, "Days" would tape pretty much every weekday, except for the occasional holiday break, and actors would never know too far in advance when they might have a day or two off. Now, actors know a year in advance exactly what weeks they will have off, so if their contracts allow, they can schedule appearances on other shows during the many dark weeks "Days" does not tape. Also, "Days" used to tape well into the night, sometimes past midnight and they would also sometimes tape on Saturdays! Now, actors know they will be out of work by 6PM at the latest and they can have a set routine and know they will be home to eat dinner. So, although they now tape 8 episodes a week as opposed to 5 episodes a week, in the long run, they get like 14 or 15 weeks off where they can schedule vacations or do other work, and they are home each night for dinner or to help their kids with homework.

Here's hoping Christie Clark's phone is blowing up with calls. Time to bring Carrie back to Salem where she belongs and be front and center, even if it was her choice to leave back in the late 90's.

If they keep shooting at the pace they are now, it will only take about another 15 months of production to get to the 50th Anniversary show. I believe that the current contract would only keep Days in production thru this April. Maybe they make a similar big announcement about Days...that it will see it's 50th and then be done. NBC could hype the final year leading up to that final show by teasing about how Sami departs & then bringing back lots of vets to close out the show, maybe using $$ from Ali's salary for temp returns like GH has done. It does feel like the story arcs we have seen over the last year are more long-term and building up to something.
