A LOOK BACK AT 1993:

Here's what was happening back in 1993, when Alison Sweeney joined the cast of "Days of Our Lives" as Sami Brady.

Days of Our Lives: Victor Kiriakis opened Titan; Carrie Brady was hit in the face with acid; Sami Brady fell in love with Carrie's boyfriend, Austin Reed; Sami saw her mother, Marlena, having sex with John Black (the affair produced Belle Black); Kate Roberts and her son Lucas came to town; Kristen and Peter Blake arrived in Salem; Stefano DiMera and his son Tony also returned to Salem; although engaged to Tony, Kristen began an affair with John Black; Abe Carver's brother, Jonah, returned to Salem and became a vigilante known as The Pacifier; Abe's wife, Lexie, helped Jonah and when they were caught, she was kicked off the police force; Billie Reed fell in love with Bo Brady (though he was still dating Carly Manning); Vivian Alamain started killing Carly's patients and buried Carly alive; Carly got amnesia and slowly got back together with Lawrence Alamain (they left town with their son, Nicholas); Billie Reed was arrested for shooting and killing her father, Curtis; Jack Deveraux left town when he felt he was the cause of his daughter Abigail's illness; Tom Horton celebrated his last Christmas.

There was a lot going on that year but for me it was bleak with Jack Deveraux leaving. As a Jack and Jennifer fan I was devestated and so angry and was even more angry when the character was re cast!!!

My first real memory of Days at 6... Carly laying still in the hospital, with the voice-over saying she was alive and wanted someone to know... and i suddenly cared about the whole storyline.

Oh man I remember all of this stuff so vividly. I got officially hooked to Days in 1991 so by 1993 my little butt was obsessed with Salem. For MY taste, 1993 would be what began my personal "glory days" which ran to about 1999. Things got a little shaky in the 2000's but I've yet to miss an episode lol.

That was the year I started watching, too. When I tuned in, Marlena was pregnant, Sami had bulimia and Carly's patients were dying on her. Then or soon after, the Pacifier was trying to be helpful, but interfering with police work and John had a relationship with Rebecca Downey, but they were with a mysterious social worker named Kristen Blake when Downey was grazed by a bullet.

Started watching Days full time in 87, I think 91-95 was one of my favorite eras.

That's when I got hooked on Days "full time" as well. It was my freshman year of college. Before that, I'd only be able to watch during the summer and days off from school, so I never really got all that invested or would just borrow my grandmother's Soap Opera Weekly to get updates. I know a lot of people credit the 80s and the era of supercouples as Days' heyday, but early to mid 90s has always had some of my favorite storylines.

The only thing more vanilla than Kristen in 1993 and 1994... Rebecca. God, she was awful. That poor actress, stuck in the middle of a story the audience had been waiting for since Marlena's return, she really didn't stand a chance.

And I just realized I called her Downey when it was Morrison. Rebecca Downey was the one amnesiac Shane was with.

Hee, I remember when the sniper shot at John, Rebecca and Kristen. John practically leap frogged over his girlfriend Rebecca to check to see if Kristen was alright.

In 1997 DAYS started here in Denmark airing episodes from 1993, and I clearly remember it. A wonderful year indeed, except for Matt's firing
