Congrats Days! I'm so glad they got the two years. I thought they would. Who didn't? lol But it's so nice that it's confirmed after the shake up with AS yesterday.
I thought the days of this show getting a multi year renewal had come to an end. Giving them two years at once makes me optimistic that the 50 year milestone won't be a gift and a goodbye.

Fantastic news. I didn't have any doubt that NBC would cancel the show, especially with the ratings upswing, the positive press soaps have been receiving, and the emmy this year. So excited Days will get to celebrate their 50th..Looking forward to Eric and Nicole leading the show for years to come. And hoping John and Marlena get more to do and we finally see more of Hope with her new love interest. Also, it's time for Theresa to do something really scandalous..

Can we first get Kristen coming back to Salem with Eric's baby and Marlena's grandchild maybe interrupting NIcole and Eric's wedding?? Seriously, that story is a ratings goldmine. Then we can get a Nicole and Eric baby farther down the line after their wedding.

What a wonderful feeling to know the network hasn't thrown in the towel on the daytime drama and realizes viewers want and support this programming!

that would be awesome; she really needs to come back soon w/a baby, whether it's Brady's or Eric's (though Eric's would be soapier).

TOLD YA SO! ^_^

This was no surprise to me. They were not going to cancel a show, on the brink of it's 50th Anniversary, that has gone through a creative and ratings-wise renaissance throughout the whole of last year, 2013.

And I'm sorry, if this show has continued on after the passings of Frances Reid and MacDonald Carey, not to mention the exits of people like Deidre Hall and Peter Reckell, it most CERTAINLY is not going to go down for someone like AS leaving. This show has flourished and been successful the 28 years before AS ever came along, and will continue to flourish and be successful after she's gone aswell.

Congratulations!!!

ED SO needs to come back, especially now that AS is leaving! At least to make a shocking epic promo -worthy appearance at the 50th! Can you imagine the buzz?

^ My face watching DAYS

DAYS (along with B&B, GH & Y&R) truly did weather the very negative era from PASSIONS/GL/ATWT/OLTL/AMC getting cancelled...it truly seemed like the death of soaps during those years.

If you would have asked me 10 years ago which soaps would be the last standing, all 4 of those remaining would have been on my list...they are the 4 pillars of the industry and have been for awhile now.

That being said, its hard to imagine that 10 years ago we had 9 hours of soaps a day and today we only have 3.5 hrs....crazy!

Fantastic news! I've watched this show for over 40 years, since I was a little girl watching with my mom and grandmother. Not ready to see it go and am looking forward to the 50th anniversary and beyond.

Hopefully they'll do even better and 2016 won't be the end.
We might have a two-week break for the Summer Olympics in August 2016, but at least the show will still be on after that!! :)

Such great news. I'm really happy with the two year pickup. That's probably the max that NBC would ever be willing to go again so you really can't think anything but great thoughts about it.

I'm really excited for the 50th. I think GH set a new standard for what a soap anniversary should be. Not just reflecting on the past, but bringing back as many legends as possible and giving some of them as much story as possible. Making their returns important. And I think Days will do everything they can to try to top it. I have much more faith in the show putting on some classic episodes than I would have a year or two ago.

And they announced it on the day that Daniel Cosgrove debuts! Talk about shocking.

Sidenote: I don't want ED/Kristen back EVER. EVER. AGAIN!
